  1. What exterior material?
  2. ^Agreed on a built-in advantage for the SEC in bowl games. I actually think that is one thing that Meyer has focused on here at OSU.... building a team that can play in the cold weather but an even greater emphasis on building a team which will win the bowl games in the warm weather. Skinny guys like Darren Lee at LB as opposed to the "star" position Tressel would've put him at and moving Adolphus Washington to the interior of the D-Line (he was recruited as a DE) are examples of this IMO.
  3. ^That was amazing foot placement..... but I think it would have still been a TD even if his heel came down out of bounds since his toes were first to make contact with the ground
  4. ^Loehmann's Plaza. Is the movie theatre not still there?
  5. That pass call was certainly questionable. Brilliant if it works, but goes against conventional wisdom. Bama had the box stacked and were selling out to stop the 'inevitable' run play. OSU go 1-on-1 on the outside and, I have to admit, Cardale might throw the best fade route out of himself, Miller, and Barrett. Evan Spencer made a good effort for that ball. Bama ended up getting the ball with about 1:30 to play as opposed to 1:00..... we couldn't have run out the clock regardless. Still not a smart play IMO. Speaking of Spencer, he showed the nation last night why he is Urban's favorite player. Great throw for the TD. Great blocking. Great overall play. Getting to the QBs...... good problem to have for next year? What do we do?
  6. I think I woke up my entire household on that last play screaming for Tyvus Powell to GO DOWN! WTF was he thinking running that pick out of the endzone with no time on the clock?? What do they feed those 'Bama players? They don't have one skinny guy on that team. Really no one you could even describe as 'svelte'. Every one of them has legs like tree trunks and a little bit of a gut.

I think both LeBron and Love have back issues this year. Nothing major, but it has affected their games a bit. For LeBron, I wonder if it had anything to do with those summertime weigh fluctuations.
  8. This might not be a true story, but I once heard about a final exam which was given in a college philosophy class. The question which the students were asked to address was simply "Why?". Many of the students filled their blue books (are those still used?) exploring the reasons for life on earth and blah blah blah. The only student who got an "A" on the exam wrote two words in response: "Why not?"

  11. What a perfect Christmas present for the local twitterverse....
  12. I have lived in both cities. They are very different but very similar at the same time. Cleveland Hts is much more diverse in terms of socio-economic status as well as religiously, culturally, etc. Both are racially diverse cities. South Euclid is much much more blah in terms of the housing stock, so its sustainability over the long run is more questionable. The housing stock is pretty much out of style and not very popular.... mostly all aluminum siding, post-war houses. CH, on the other hand, has an older, more timeless housing stock..... although many of the houses won't have a forced air system and are not as efficient in terms of maintaining the costs on monthly bills for heat, etc. CH definitely has the 'hipper' neighborhoods which were mentioned above. SE is more transient in terms of the people who own homes in the City. The schools are comparable on the overall scale, but Heights probably offers a better chance to excel in the school system (I would venture to guess that significantly more National Merit Scholars come out of Heights High than Brush). Speaking of the school system, be aware that there are slivers of CH which are actually in the EC school system, which will be reflected in the home value. If you think you are getting a steal on the price of the home, that might be one of the reasons. There are also parts of SE which are in the CH-UH school system. Crime/safety is comparable. Most of the more serious crimes in those cities are committed by people who don't live in those cities. Overall, quality of life is very similar in both cities. I'd say one huge difference is the sense of community which is monumentally stronger in CH.... IMNSHO.

The team sure is 'rounding into form' as the season comes to a close.
  14. ^Good question. My guess would be Jalin Marshall, who played QB in high school. There was a QB in this last recruiting class, Stephen Collier, but I'm sure he redshirted the season already. There is also an 'invited walk-on', Luke Morgan, who is a sophomore.... but he was given the same jersey number as Ezekiel Elliot so they would have to do something about that. Marshall is probably the safest bet. He knows the speed of the game and the offense. He has his timing down, at least on the read option. Bottom line is if Cardale gets hurt, we are in deep doo-doo
  15. ^^Agreed.... especially when one considers that it isn't even a natural shoreline. Whatever "green space" which could go there is going to be worse than a surburban front yard. Could it even sustain tree roots? For access to natural beauty from downtown, I would like to see a plan to improve/create a connection to Wendy Island.

^We needed to address it before this injury. Andy is great with his hustle and tenacity, but he never was a good interior defender. Definitely never mentioned as a rim protector. ^^Are you suggesting we trade him? Good luck with that. He just signed an extension and then suffered one of the worst injuries (recovery-wise) a player of his style can suffer. On the point of how he plays, that had nothing to do with this injury. Watch the replay. He didn't land awkwardly and wasn't even in contact with anybody else. He just took a step and pop..... that's how Achilles tears happen a lot. There is a lot of sentimental value to Andy. He started with us and I hope he ends his career with us. He's a lifer. I hated how we did that with Z when we traded him away (even though he returned through free agency 30 days later)...... especially using hindsight knowing how little we got out of Jamison.

It's a tear. He's done for the year.

Don't have to. Okafur and Jermaine O'Neil are free agents. Some team will also want to dump salary around the trade deadline. Gilbert's willingness to spend always helps.

I doubt they deal Dion with the way he has been stepping up these past 10 or so games (14ppg, 46%FG). He finally seems to have caught his stride as our primary scorer off the bench. Tristan will likely become the starting C for the time being. There were some stats I saw recently which actually showed that Tristan is LeBron's most efficient running mate if you look at +/- numbers. In the long run, I still hope they make a play for Okafur once he is healthy enough to come back. What concerns me most is missing that consistent 10-15 foot jump shooter Andy had become.

As soon as I saw the replay from last night of Andy going down, first thing I thought was torn Achilles. F*^%! Hoping for the best, but I'd be really surprised if it isn't a complete tear.

Just saw Guardians of the Galaxy. If buying soundtracks were still a thing, I would be all over that one. Nostalgia aplenty for anyone from my generation

  23. Nobody is denying their 'international appeal'. It's just not the be all end all of furniture stores. Wal-Mart has widespread appeal, obviously...... yet many of us don't like shopping there even if we can 'Walmartize' a room for half the price of a local store.
  24. The local furniture stores can't be happy about the idea. There will be an inevitable 'Wal-Mart' effect. For every customer who was willing to drive to Pittsburgh, there probably were at least 10 (or many more) who weren't.

^^It would just be for training camp. They wouldn't practice in C-Bus during the regular season once the games begin. As KJP notes, this is not uncommon. I don't know if it is still like this today, but some teams would even put there players up in dorms and impose a strict curfew through the camp to keep them focused on football. The latest CBA might have had some impact on their ability to do so.
