  1. I was just catching up on the latest recruiting news/updates/commits. WTF is this?? Apparently it is one of our new Offensive lineman :-o Looks kinda like my HS social studies teacher, Ms. Williams.
  2. I like the design of the building. Although missing the mature trees which really give character to the neighborhood, the building seems like a modern version of what graces this area of Cleveland Heights - http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,26396.msg580663.html#msg580663

^^Beautiful coat/colors. Looks to be half Calico. Did you name her after Stevie Nicks?
  4. I'm sure a lot, if not most, on here are already aware of this site - http://www.clevelandindependents.com/ - but an FYI to those who aren't, including you lurkers. For all those 'I have no idea what to get you' folks on my holiday shopping/gift list, a gift card from that site is what they are getting. Quick, easy, and best of all it supports the local economy. Certainly better than fandango bucks or a Darden restaurant gift card.
  5. The 'no orange barrel' goal is being drastically overstated. The City was contemplating specific projects (the hotel, Public Square, the Malls, the Pedestrian Bridge, etc). And, no, other cities hosting conventions don't halt ALL construction. CLT had several buildings/projects underway at the time of the 2012 DNC. As for space needed, we have plenty of that. I highly doubt some empty, not easily accessible (at least not anymore) parcel is going to be put to much use.
  6. ^I was never overly crazy about the Higbee's building being used for the casino, but I never wanted it to be turned to apartments. I don't know why not. This isn't some project which would impede the flow of traffic, pedestrian or vehicular. It is on the outskirts, in a sense, on a lot not currently put to any good use.

If it was Haywood from five years ago, I might agree. Maybe we should have see if Potapenko can shake off the dust/rust? Haywood might give us a block here and there, but teams will attack him if he is in the game and he will slow us down on the break, make it hard for us to guard in transition, and worst of all clog the lane on offense. The time to use Haywood (or preferably another big we pick up between now and the trade deadline) would be if we get in a playoff series with a team that has a Dwight Howard type. You'd use Haywood's 6 fouls freely on him. Why all of the Haywood hype all of a sudden? What happened to the Jones' bandwagon? 0-6 over the past two games turned you off already? Or was it his -15 plus/minus last night? How about giving Alex Kirk some love next week?

I was so upset I had to turn the game off and cut my workout short when Kyrie limped off the floor. Just the way he came down and was holding his knee, I was sure it was his ACL. I've seen that happen too many times where the knee just slightly buckles and then the player looks more scared than in pain. Sprains cause you to roll around on the ground. A torn ACL is a pop and then just panic with little pain...... although the initial pop probably hurts like hell (never tore my ACL but I ripped up my patella ligament and MCL twice, both times causing my knee to dislocate...... that initial moment causing the worst physical pain I've ever felt). Something made me flip back on the game when there was a few minutes left in the 3rd and I saw Kyrie out there. Relief. Sam is dedicated to his craft and stays on top of the rumors. But original thought and basketball analysis are not something I read him for. In fact, of all the local beat reporters, he might be the worst at that.

The plan going into the season was always to give him (and some of the other vets) the type of routine days off the Spurs give their older players. I think it is just that we are finally in a good enough place to allow him to do that. FYI, there is some kind of NBA protocol on players being inactive in that you have to list some type of injury. I remember Mike Brown, back in the glory days when we carried more than 12 players on our roster, used to joke around about how so-and-so was probably going to have some type of contusion or tendinitis that night. I'm not worried about LeBron's knee. It is still his back which concerns me.

Ideally, we wait to the summer to trade him due to his contract which will count for $10mill towards a trade in the summer but only $2.5mill now. I'm personally still very interested in trying to woo Okafur once he is ready to play, which was supposed to be in January

Well..... I guess the question is - are you talking about Miller or Jones? Both fit that mold, except Miller brings other qualities to the court which Jones never has in his career. The bottom line to me is that if you are relying on Jones to provide that bench scoring, we are not going to be as good as we should be. In certain lineups and certain situations (such as last night when he was inserted when it was time to get free throw shooters on the floor), I'm all for Jones playing. If the injury bug hits, I'm all for playing Jones. But, given our current makeup, it would be a shame if we had to resort to him as a regular rotation guy who is going to play more than 5 minutes a game. The best thing about a guy like Jones is he could ride the bench all year and then explode for something like 6-8 from deep when we really need it during the playoffs.

It's cooler than effeminate and feeble, Ginger

Oh, I understand the concept. The difference between you and me is you view it more as a rigid belief system, whereas I view it as a more wide-ranging ethos. And you view it more in the hi-jacked sense. The issue with trying to tie it to liberals or conservatives is that Liberty is too much of an abstract concept..... same as Freedom or Justice or any other platitude you want to claim. As for the other issue, you overstate or don't understand the level of disagreement amongst self-identifying liberals. There are plenty of liberal defenders of suburbia/sprawl. Tons of them. For most liberals, in fact, the whole idea that there is a debate about sprawl is lost on them.

Yeah, Libertarianism is much more closely aligned with the general beliefs of liberals than it is conservatives. It is a hi-jacked term. The conservative angle of it gets more play now because a lot of what TRUE libertarianism would fight for, Liberals have already won. And the thought that the conservative spectrum is larger than the liberal political tent is laughable to say the least. Conservatives are fairly uniform in belief, background, appearance, etc. There isn't much wiggle room in the party platform. You certainly don't see the same struggles you see the amongst the Dems/Liberals in agreeing to a platform. Sure, there are a few outliers, such as Rand Paul, but he (like his Dad before him) pretty much has his own tent.

Jones was 0-2 last night. Washed up? Not at all. He is getting older. But his value is still high, as shown this past summer during free agency. He is not the player he was 10 years ago. Not many players are at his age. Him and Jones are roughly the same age. I think Miller is a year older. With Delly back and Dion really starting to come on, this might all be moot. Blatt LOVES Delly. He is going to get heavy minutes. And if Dion keeps it up, there probably won't be any minutes to give to either Miller or Jones. Andy, Love, LeBron, Marion, Kyrie, Dion, Delly, and TT are going to eat up 95% of the minutes if they all stay healthy. If anything, we need another 'big' to play some spot duty.

Deng gummit.... why dey mad, bro? Or, better yet, head-to-head. That is the most reliable measuring stick.

^But Johnny walks like a man with his chest out and shoulders back. That makes a big difference in his stature compared to Ginger.
  21. ^I don't know that it has...... but I don't know too many 13-16 year old boys that even consider the consequences of child support. I would highly doubt there is any cause and effect on that angle. Sorry to say, but I really think it is the result of a combination of children being more aware and adults not closing them off from the necessary tools/information.

^Those are some strong words which I don't think you will find one expert to agree with you on. Go ahead and look to prove me wrong. Nuts? MUST? Hardly. We've rolled off 7 straight and Jones has not gotten consistent minutes during that stretch. Don't go crazy.... errrr, sorry, nuts..... off of one game. Comparing James Jones to Ray Allen is a bit nuts.

You're right. We probably should've changed who owns and operates this franchise given their awful history of picking QBs. I also predict Hoyer comes back in the second half........ once we're up by 4 TDs.
  25. He's fine. Just precautionary per my buddy in CLT
