I think it was a few weeks ago when all the teams were above .500 and that had never been done before. I imagine, especially if Baltimore wins tonight, that there has never been a Division with 3 teams, let alone all four, at 7-4 or better this late in the season. That's a total guess, BTW. As for winning that game the way we did, I'll take it. Too often we have been on the wrong end of coaching blunders and last second field goals. It is usually us that gift-wraps games. We did in no less than twice at the beginning of the year. We've probably lost to the Steelers like that more than 5 times over the past 10 years. It was great to see the other team's prevent defense getting picked apart on the way down to a winning FG
  2. I saw NEOMG was live blogging from this event, but allow me to give a quick recap of some notes I took. It was a great event with lots of fanfare for the City, but not terribly informative for the UO crowd (considering it was an all day event). FILM PANEL - There have been 237 films shot in the State since 2007 - $300m in economic development in NEO alone since 2007 - HOWEVER, we have lost approx. $500m we could have earned due to a lack of infrastructure (sound stages, etc) - movies such as Captain America 3, Ant Man, and a few Pixel films would have been shot here if we had the proper infrastructure - 80% of the film work in Ohio has been right here in NEO, mostly due to our ability to double as NYC and other mega cities RECREATION PANEL - There was a video presentation I hadn't seen before which was good, other than the musical backdrop to that poppy "Boom-Clack" song - Metroparks now has 500+acres along the waterfront - 2013 was the largest land acquisition year for the metroparks since 1961 - A good portion of the panel was spent discussing progress on the Red Line Greenway, which is coming together nicely - site tours are available - The Red Line Greenway has what one panelist described as the highest elevated greenway in the USA EVENTS PANEL - Gay games brought 20K visitors and over $50m in economic input - City is expecting Federal grants to cover the bulk of the cost for the RNC, as was done in Charlotte and Tampa this last cycle - Cleveland was the unanimous choice for the RNC site selection committee (at least that is what our locals heard) - RNC is planning lots of events in UC - They showed the video which was presented to the site selection committee and it was pretty good - RNC will have 15K credentialed media members (compared to 5K for a Super Bowl) - RNC/DNC are the largest media events in the world outside of the Olympics - $30m in infrastructure improvements will be made to allow all of the data to flow in and out of the City during the RNC - During the RNC, 10x the amount of data will come out of the Q as compared to a Game 7 of the NBA finals - The new convention center was the first project of its size to scrap paper blueprints and use IPads during construction - The CC has held over 200 events since opening in 2013 - 72 trade shows/conventions have been booked since the announcement of the RNC - There have been 200m 'media impressions' in the four months since the RNC was announced - There was some mention of the need for a media center during the RNC and "Gateway East"(?) was thrown out there as a possibility FRED NANCE - He talked us through our lunch hour - He said that Gateway started it all with the trend in downtown towards public money spurring private investment - He showed a GCP video I don't think we have seen here - He mentioned that he was interviewed for 2 hours by the NYT on Cavs opening night about "all things happening in Cleveland"..... he hasn't seen the article yet but predicted it is going to be a "really comprehensive piece" ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PANEL - Coyne talked about what he called the 'proximity principle' and the key being getting young people to move downtown - He compared Public Square + the Malls and their 24 acres to the 25 acre Millennium Park in Chicago (just really from a scope/size angle) - More landscaping is coming of the Malls, although Mall C might remain more open due to the use for Ultimate Frisbee and other activities - The location of the pedestrian bridge is 'fixed' but the design is not - Coyne thinks Burke will remain an airport - Coyne will 'occupy' the Jacobs owned lot on PS if something is not developed there once PS is done.... he has told the owners of his intention to do so - The two people behind Hingetown (Graham and Marika) gave an entertaining presentation, showing the progress in the neighborhood, including 265 new units planned in the next 5 years and a 50% reduction in crime and foreclosures since they got started FOOD PANEL - Cimperman was on this panel, along with some of the local restaraunters (Symon's business guy, Hodgson, and the owner of Toast) - By requiring the Farmer's Markets to accept food stamps, business has increased 250% - There are now over 100 food trucks in the City - When asked about the parking issues in the Market District, Cimperman said that while parking is important, neighborhoods with parking problems have both a low foreclosure rate and lower crime.
  3. They should have.... but how do you know they did not? My mom taught me never to play with BB guns, especially after a neighbor of mine had his eye shot out when we were kids, but that didn't stop more than a few of us from playing 'hunt games' in the nearby ravine with each other in the winter when we could pack on the layers of clothes. Did you never break a rule when you were a kid? Allow me to pre-empt the ignorant responses. No, I am NOT (please take careful note of that word) 'making excuses' for this kid. What he did was incredibly stupid and dangerous. He is not without fault for his own death no matter how the details play out. And oh yeah, ARGGGHHHHH!!!!! Let me know if I need to be any clearer than that.
  4. Careful not to jump the gun one way or the other on this one based purely on preliminary reports, folks. Some of the commenting I have seen on this incident (on other sites) is absolutely shameful and legitimately has me concerned for where we stand as a nation. Be careful with that advice. Very careful They already have an attorney. Probably some guy who was at the site handing out business cards. Guy could lose his license for doing that. Believe it or not, people in the inner city know attorneys too. As for where his parents were, he was a 12 year old at a community rec center.

It turns out that the video was edited to exclude most of the white men who hollered at Roberts that day. The video's producer, Rob Bliss, wrote an explanation on reddit: "We got a fair amount of white guys, but for whatever reason, a lot of what they said was in passing, or off camera." For whatever reason they were edited from the video, that omission is powerful. Additionally, black and brown women were excluded, as if we do not exist, or are not affected by street harassment when, in fact, we are more endangered by it.* * * After much criticism, Hollaback apologized for its overrepresentation of men of color, and stated that the money raised from the video would be put towards creating videos that were more inclusive: "We agree wholeheartedly that the video should have done a better job of representing our understanding of street harassment and we take full responsibility for that." http://jezebel.com/a-hollaback-response-video-women-of-color-on-street-ha-1655494647

Hoyer, yet again, does the bare minimum to win. Josh Gordon is a beast. Most physically gifted WR in the league. Yes, I know Megatron has not retired yet.

I'm baffled at the moment, but still sticking to my 20 game warm-up I said I would give them at the beginning of the season. When LeBron is LeBron, we win. The stats are clear on that point. When he is pedestrian, we lose. I would like him to be spectacular every night, but on the other hand, we have the talent on this team even without him to win a good amount of games. The only two guys who are playing up to expectations on this entire roster, IMO, are Kyrie and Andy. I actually thought Kyrie might struggle the most out of the Big 3, but that hasn't been the case. LeBron's start has been up and down. KLove is being too passive and not taking the fight to his opponent. Marion has been so-so. Miller has been awful. TT and Dion are struggling to adjust to their new roles, although TT has been brilliant in a few games. We just are no getting the contributions from role players that we need, and right now are dead last in the league in bench scoring. He's certainly no savior, but I think Delly's value to the current make-up of this roster is higher than most people might think. We need his hustle plays in the worst way right now.

As we established earlier, it mostly comes down to the source of the cat calling. I've never seen a woman being receptive to a cat call from the fry guy at McDonalds. guy in a Lamborghini presents a different scenario
  9. Hts121 replied to CincyImages's post in a topic in Urbanbar
A lot of younger white women are thinking that the cat calls they receive are due to racial hostility? Really? Go ahead and run with that if it makes you feel vindicated for your own personal beliefs, but I find that very hard to believe. Even harder to believe, as a matter of fact I know it not to be true, is that the cat calls are indeed due to racial hostility. Ridiculous. Black women get cat called at least twice as much. I can only assume the idea of racial hostility is the result of a lingering societal belief that minority men shouldn't be asking "where the white women at" and should stick to "their own kind." There..... That's me being blunt So my post is not misinterpreted (again) let me be perfectly clear that cat calling is distasteful and it does indeed happen. So in response to those who do it, let me just say arrrgggghhhhh!!!! And when I say 'those who do it' there is no limitation based on physical characteristics such as skin, hair, or eye color

Sometime in the second half, LeBron was fouled on a drive to the left-side basket (as shown on TV) and, as someone with a bad back, I could see he was really hurt by that and was struggling afterwards. Yes. That is the play I was talking about specifically. He went up for a tip in off a missed shot and Leonard came from behind and fouled him (it wasn't called). It wasn't the foul, but the way he came down which twisted up his back, but then he stood there with his hands on his knees recovering and (I suspect) letting the muscles/ligaments relax. I can sympathize. Over the past year or so I have had a re-occurring thing right where my neck meets my back. I can aggravate it by sleeping on it wrong and it really bothers me for several days. But the worst was taking my son to Cedar Point this summer and letting the roller coasters take their toll on me. It took a solid month for the discomfort to go away and I was taking it easy the whole time.
  12. ^^^I know ^NBA has divisions. 3 divisions in each conference and each division winner is guaranteed one of the top four seeds. Your seed determines who you play, but regular season record trumps seeding when it comes to home court advantage.

I was encouraged last night that we had a chance to win at the end even thought LeBron and KLove had off-shooting nights. The team defense was much better..... nowhere near elite, but not too many lapses against the team which is best in the league at exposing poor defense. As for the offensive end, I would like to see us run more sets through KLove at the top of the circle the same way San Antonio uses Diaw. I'm not talking about running the entire offense through him, but he is too good to be just standing in the corner on so many sets. I still think LeBron's back is bothering him..... much more than he is letting on. I can see it in the way he bends over and rests with his hands on his knees whenever he gets twisted or land awkwardly.
  14. I wish. Nobody is picking me to be a juror. But nice call, as I realize that pic was taken right next to the juror elevators.
  15. ^Indians were 100-44 when the strike of '94 happened. They had a real shot at the record for wins in a season.

The perimeter defense seems to have more to do with miscommunications than effort or anything schematic. The players are learning a new defensive system which requires a lot of rotating to the next man. They don't seem to be doing well with switching on the pick-n-roll either. The interior defense, as we expected, is a personnel issue IMO. The former will take time to fix. The latter will require a trade or FA signing (Okafur?).

Some people are just magnets for things they don't like for whatever reason. I know plenty of very attractive girls in their youth who don't get constantly harassed like you, RnR. Not saying they don't get cat-called on occasion. But it certainly is nowhere remotely close to the same extent you experience in your 40s on a daily basis. I don't know anybody that has it as bad as you, and ever since that Jezebel video came out and we had that discussion I have been asking a lot just to confirm I am not crazy. Maybe you have whatever the black man's equivolent of 'the shiska appeal' would be? As for any notions of racial hostility, that has nothing to do with it. Trust me on that one. I don't think that is a responsible comment to make either as it will only further whatever racial divide you perceive there to be.

  20. Maybe that is why some self-defense instructors teach women to scream "fire" instead of "help" or "rape". A bunch of heroes come running to a fire. http://www.justyellfire.com/
  21. Baylor fans must be up in arms with TCU ahead of them despite losing the head-to-head matchup
  22. I'm sure it was because he feared for HIS safety. That's no excuse in my book. Maybe I was raised differently.
  23. Good luck to the public relations department of any company who would terminate or even discipline a driver for opening the door of the truck to a woman in such a state of distress. If the driver is a union guy or otherwise under contract, there would be no 'just cause' presented. If he was an 'at-will' employee, he still would likely be safe because of the exception under Ohio law for termination which offend public policy - e.g. your boss terminates you for jury duty.

Latest word is that we are 'holding tight' on the Brewer trade because the front office places a higher priority on obtaining a big man. Might need the TPE to do that.
