Maybe he was just too much of a veteran at that point to be part of the 'culture' Gastineau introduced as a younger player.

I think the word your looking for is "football." It's football, there should be trash talking and hard hits, no matter what the score is. Yeah.... I don't think that was the word, but I agree with you. In fact, things were much worse back in them 'good ole days'. Headbutts, cheap shots, and other dirty tactics are actually probably way down

^Just guesses, but weather and less in-state competition from other large metros could be factors. I could see Tennessee being the next North Carolina

Methinks Urban has stashed a few plays/wrinkles up his sleeve for this one which we haven't seen yet this year. Him and D'Antonio don't seem to like each other much and it probably irks Meyer that he broke his streak. I wouldn't bet on this game, no matter the odds. Very tough to predict. I could see anything from a blowout either way or a slugfest down to a last second field goal. tOSU has to be able to run the ball against this defense to keep them from keying in on our WRs and blitzing the sh!t out of JT. Speaking of Barrett, how is his knee?

80 foot high atrium is not out of the realm of possibility. Also, isn't 13 feet (including the floor/ceiling space) probably a bit low of an estimate for offices?

Cleveland Browns Discussion
How about Greg "Catches" Little? He had a nice penalty which got us off on the right foot. And then he allowed an INT by running his route wrong. Good to see that he finally produced a little for the Browns. I still think he was a waste of a 2nd round pick

Columbus Region -- Insight 2050
I doubt that Columbus maintains the same level of growth for the next 50 years. Things change and markets peak. Hell.... if Cleveland would've maintained the same level of growth over the course of the entire 20th century as we saw in the first 20 years (+400,000), the population of our City proper would be over 2,000,000........ or larger than even NYC if we maintained the same 'rate' of growth (doubling every 20 years). I think with the sprawl going so far out and the large lot zoning restricting further infill in most of that sprawl, you are going to start to see the growth start to plateau. The key is not allowing the same forces which affected former boomtowns cause an eventual decline..... and certainly be very mindful not to neglect the city core or the decline will turn rapid and cause the need to essentially hit the re-set button.

Dalton certainly had some ugly throws last night, but I also see a lot of good coverage and a collapsing pocket on many plays in that clip.

^Having our pro-bowl, all-pro WR will help. It will also help to get our pro-bowl TE (Cameron) back our leading WR (Hawkins) back too. Wish our pro-bowl C could join the party. Oh well, even with those guys out, the offense took care of business.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Yep, Joe's hip seems to have fully healed and he is back in prime form. Skrine played well too.... that was a pleasant surprise. Everyone is talking about the pre-game speech Whitner gave. That's what a veteran like him adds which is not seen on the field. Browns play well with that swagger, especially the defense. I want them to be cocky. As for underdogs, anyone in the league who hadn't got the memo by now, was served notice last night that the Browns are a legit threat each and every Sunday. They may not be a Super Bowl contender, but they can beat.....no, they can whoop..... any team, any given Sunday. Just ask Pittsburgh and Cincy.

1) anti sodomy laws were declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court around the turn of the 21st century so they have no choice in the matter. The days when you could criminally charge gay men for engaging in sexual acts are now back in the 'good ole days' with the segregation laws 2) how do voter id laws prevent fraud through absentee ballot? 3). I was more thinking about the 'more preferred' method for airport screening and the 'show your papers' laws proposed in AZ..... But I'm sure you would find no shortage of support for laws allowing police to racially profile minorities as well

Ohio Voting / Voter ID Law
Part of the reason the voting lines are longer in the poorer districts is because the poll workers are overwhelmed with having to assist in filling out provisional ballots, which are required when the voter does not have acceptable ID or when the voter has moved and not updated his/her voting registration info (occurs most often in transient areas).

I was throwing bombs at "Republican voters" (sorry, E, if you thought "you" meant.... ummmm... you ;)...... please immediately disavow those laws/efforts so that no one else is confused) But you're right...... the anti-sodomy laws, voter suppression laws, racial profiling, and similar agendi (there, I used it) are all VERY mean spirited. Lastly, E is very good at sticking up for himself. He doesn't need your help.

Agreed on Harris. Matter of fact, I might've tossed him into the starting lineup last night over Marion if Blatt really wanted to try something different at the 2.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Luckily, I have been overwhelmed lately with other stuff and fell asleep before I had a chance to watch the last two games. Regardless, I am not panicking one bit. If they are still playing like this 20 games in, then I'll start to be concerned. I always expected some growing pains and was never in the "70 win" boat. It is much more important how they end the season going into the playoffs (YES, they WILL make the playoffs) then it is how they start the season. The lack of assists last night is baffling. Keep in mind however that there are plenty of games when Kyrie would have 10+ assists if guys simply made the wide open shots he gave them. I'm more concerned about the lack of production from Dion, Miller, and Marion.

Yawn. BS. You distrust government which is not forwarding your ultra conservative agenda. When government says someone can't engage in sexual activity you don't agree with, you're all for it. When government imposes burdens on voting which disproportionately affects segments of the society you don't want voting, you are all for it. When government profiles ethnicities you would prefer not be here in the country, you say go ahead. When the government tells people what they can and can't do or put in their body (as long as it is not a soda or a cigarette), you cheer it on. Save the BS propaganda talking points for a crowd who can't see straight through it.

Cleveland Public Schools: News and Discussion
Yeah, well, anyone have the breakdown on owners vs. renters? As a homeowner, I'd love to have school funding decoupled from property taxes. Also, I keep hearing from people I come into contact with that "The Cleveland Schools are broke and need the money" when they are ranked like top 15 in the state for per student spending. I would like to know what goes into the formula for "per student spending". Are maintenance costs included? Obviously, maintenance on older buildings is more expensive. Security costs are surely higher in the CMSD than they are in the suburbs. They have to pay their teachers more, I would also suspect. I know if I was a teacher, I would demand more to teach in Cleveland than in Orange. Special needs students cost more, and I do believe Cleveland has a disproportionate share. Students from indigent families cost more as well (as noted above). I just don't believe the comparison is fair, and certainly not the implications drawn from those comparisons. Think of it like the difference between having an old 1920's tudor mansion on Fairmount vs. owning a brand new mansion in Gates Mills. The new house is going to cost less to heat, less to cool, will require less daily upkeep, and repairs will be less frequent and less expensive. It doesn't matter that the square footage is the same. It's not apples to apples.

It's a good question. With the mix-use, could the floor sizes vary a bit? It could be as short as 300ft and as tall as 500ft, I would guess.

^How's he "right on schedule" when he isn't in the 2-deep "as expected"? More physically talented than Cam Burrows? I would strongly disagree with that statement. I see Smith as more of a Ron Tanner type. Tanner was always a special teams demon who could play in some dime packages. As far as him breaking into the depth chart, he could do it easily and in short order with a few injuries. We are not exactly deep at safety, with Smith being #5 on a 5-man depth chart. But he better be looking in his rear-view mirror at that kid from Maryland (Green?) and I also think that Eric Glover-Williams ends up at safety when all is said and done...... just a hunch. EGW would instantly become the most physically talented safety on the team. Jerome Baker might also get a look at SS.
