^^^I don't know why you assume all women fit one mold and that you can possibly understand the thought process of half of the population. That's kind of sexist if you ask me. Men are very different from other men. Women are very different from other women. You loathe the behavior more than most women I know and have every right to. I loathe certain behavior, particularly the double-standard employed by some older women, who have said things to me I would never be allowed to say to them without recourse. I also loathe the aggressive cat-callers among men. But I am not on board for some formalized method to approaching women you might be interested in. Sometimes you just have to "go see about a girl." You never know where it might lead. DISCLAIMER: If you read my post as encouraging cat-calling, diminishing the effect it has on some women, or anything else devious, then read it again..... and again.... and again, until you can comprehend.

Word is that tomorrow will be star studded event. In addition to the above, Mr and Mrs Carter are supposed to show up, as well as Kevin Hart, Justin Timberlake..... Probably more. I wish the weather forecast was better

How about that guy Tashaun Gipson? He is quickly becoming one of the very best in the entire league. Total ball-hawk center fielder. Good against the run and on the blitz to boot.

Women are afraid to react negatively. I have pretended to be pleased with comments I've received. Otherwise, you get screamed at and can be followed or get into additional trouble. Not all women are the same. Hardly. The ones GCrites80s was referring to are not responding because they are afraid to react negatively. They are genuinely interested. I have friends, in our younger years, who did not hesitate to "holla" at a girl if they thought she was attractive or if her outward appearance fit the stereotype of someone who might be interested in them. Half those girls you see walking around the neighborhood pointlessly are looking for some guy to drive by and hit on them. Certainly, there are a ton of women who want nothing to do with it, no matter the circumstances. Then there are others who will either feel complemented or offended dependent totally on the characteristics of the man making the comment. I wanted to post it, but can't find it. Does anyone remember that commercial from a few decades ago with the construction worker passing by an old lady on the street and saying "Hello, Beautiful" and then you seeing the old lady re-telling the story to her friends "... and then he called me Beautiful!" The point about the commercial, iirc, was that sometimes the smallest things can make someone's day. I always thought it was a little odd. But it certainly was a situation where context probably made the difference in the public's eye. If the rather handsome construction worker had been your average Clevelander waiting for a bus on Public Square, it probably would have been taken as offensive based solely on physical characteristics. As far as looking, there is a certain level of 'nature' to it. You can show the below picture to 100 people, women included, and I would bet that not one will notice the dog driving the car before reading the text.

I agree that the "no, sorry" and keep walking strategy works well Every now and then, I'll buy someone a hot dog or something like that Every now and then, I want to have some fun (especially if out drinking) and will pre-empt them with requests and stories of my own. Haven't done that in years. I can only remember having an issue with them twice. Once, I saw a guy approach a family who was eating at a patio table and I had to have some words with him about that. Another time, back in my college years, I had already been generous with the guy and he kept asking for more. He wasn't even so much a panhandler, but just a drunk outside a bar who approached me as I was arriving. Pretty sure he was the one who slashed my tires that night. Never found that f'er, not for lack of effort. I don't think I've passed out any money in at least 10 years. I was more sympathetic/naïve in my youth.

I think the outrage at this film is causing you all to take my comments completely out of context. I never said she asked for it. I never said it was awesome. Don't be pricks about it. I said the behavior was borderline criminal. I said the cause was a good one and, in fact, encouraged the exploitation of these guys. You all just gloss over that to go on the attack and try to frame me as one of them, when I said I never do that and never have. Get over yourselves. I'm out.
  10. Hts121 replied to CincyImages's post in a topic in Urbanbar
You completely missed my point. I was not "making excuses" "Diminishing" or however else anyone wants to misinterpret what I wrote. I simply stated that it was a good strategy to use. Period. I didn't realize the conversation was closed to anything but Comments focused solely on utter outrage.

She's stacked. A perfect 10 to many of those guys. Her clothes emphasized her physical features I don't know about her actions (see above)

^you and me really aren't communicating on the same wave length here. That's all Ivan asse from your response..... Or you didn't really ready post. I'll check out of that exchange. ^^i was talking more about the girl than her clothes, although I'm sure those were carefully chosen too
  13. Hts121 replied to CincyImages's post in a topic in Urbanbar
Not at all. Some of the conduct was borderline criminal, especially the stalking. Of course I don't experience it on a daily basis. I'm a dude, dude. I was simply throwing it out there that these videos can be manipulated a bit to drive home the point. In fact, it is the smart thing to do if you really want to get a message out. That girl wasn't just some randomly selected "Average Jane"..... Take a real good look at her. She was tactfully chosen and dressed to be used as 'bait' for the typically worst offenders, but yet not so much that the targeted audience is going to take all that much notice of it if at all. I say good for them. Their cause is a good one to promote. I REALLY don't think it went much beyond the selection of the girl, but just to further speculate in the "off topic" thread ;) notice that she never turns around once. You also never really see her behavior on the approach. Was she making lengthy eye contact? Did she make repeated passes of the same area? I could think of a thousands ways to get good film on this without the audience ever knowing if I had the desire and means.
  14. Hts121 replied to CincyImages's post in a topic in Urbanbar
That video is a bit surprising. Putting any questions of authenticity aside (think of the James O'Keefe videos), I would like her to turn around once, though. Is there something written across her butt? There was some comment about that, I thought I heard. Is her g-string showing? Are we possibly dealing with a certain level of 'entrapment'? That is one thing I am not sympathetic about to women. If you wear a shirt with your boobs hanging out, guys are going to look at your boobs. Don't come back with the "my eyes are up here" line. You wanted them to look at your rack. If you wear pants that have something written across the butt, guys are going to look at your butt. And don't pretend for a minute that you didn't wear that to call attention to your rear! FWIW, I find that NY'ers are on another level of cat-calling. No Ohio city can compare. I was never one to cat-call. I probably only tried a few time to 'pick up those digits' in my youth with some girl I didn't already know one way or another. Some of my friends on the other hand, well.....

I have that same concern, but I don't think it is going much beyond rhetoric with Kasich. He's a lot smarter and a lot less extreme compared to Brownback

^Well.... 'The Gilded Age Republican financial elite' back in the 19th Century is probably something akin to the 'Limousine liberals' of present times, no? Certainly, the Republican Party of the late 19th Century can't really be compared in any respect with today's Republican Party. Who (were) dey? Dey were the dang Yanks!

I only said anything in response to the implication that the source was waging a "War" on the Tea Party. I don't think it is a warning about 'conservative policies'...... I think it is a warning about extremist Tea Party policies, sans the effects of global changes which particularly impacted a state like Michigan. There is a big difference in my mind between conservative policies and Tea Party policies. The former, in theory, would never follow an extremist approach and make dramatic shifts in policy in such a short time. I know Kansas had some major players in the abolitionist movement. What other liberal populism ideas were you thinking of?

Why bother to address the merits when you can dismiss the contention based solely on the source? How about Politico? http://www.politico.com/story/2014/07/kansas-2014-election-sam-brownback-108952_Page2.html The Hill? http://thehill.com/policy/finance/218449-norquist-defends-tax-cuts-despite-brownback-woes Wall Street Journal? http://online.wsj.com/articles/sam-brownbacks-tax-cut-push-puts-kansas-out-on-its-own-1402448126

^ I rarely, if ever, post articles from HuffPost, MSNBC, etc....... but Rolling Stone has been cited numerous times by the more conservative leaning members of our forum (at least when it puts out an article they agree with). There are a ton of articles out there (outside of the Tea Party vacuum / echo chamber) citing Kansas as a miserably failed Tea Party economics experiment. I chose to post the Rolling Stone one because I thought it wouldn't be attacked due to the source. I guess I was wrong. No way 'round that dag'gone laimstreem libral media shtick. Re Kansas.... this is what happens when you try to institute Texas economic policy without the abundance of natural resources to balance out the revenue shortfall. Take careful note of that, Ohio. I think Kasich understands even if our radical, rural district controlled General Assembly does not.
  24. I don't like to predict the future, but the trendline is for less money to be available for public works projects. This country increasingly is focused on the cost of such investments rather than their value. So my thought is that communities that are able to build as much infrastructure today will perform better during leaner times to come than those that didn't invest in infrastructure now. Use it or lose it. The enemy of the good is the perfect. He who hesitates, waits.... Any other cliches I can throw out there? Don't eat the yellow snow
  25. Welcome to the forum. Can you see the players playing without the dome. I fail to see how the dome would block any line of sight, other than a bird's eye view for those wanting to fly a drone over the courts. I don't like the design due to the logo. Other than that, it seems like a better option than year-round indoor courts. What do urban-designed tennis courts even look like? I am having a hard time imagining that. Some things probably just are not amenable to urban design...... golf courses, airport runways, paper mills, etc.
