Rim protectors can have a massive impact on the game and no team is worse off for having one. That said, over-zealous shot blockers sometimes leave a bit to be desired on the defensive rebounding front, and vice-versa. Neither Love nor Andy are great shot-blockers, but a lot of that IMO has to do with their focus on not taking themselves out of position to rebound a missed shot. Love actually led the league last year in defensive rebounding. Taking away a team's second shot is just as effective as blocking their second shot. Also, you don't need to actually block shots to be a rim protector. You can be so good at interior defense that your opponent never gets a clean look. Or you can be really good at altering shots, which has the same basic effect as blocking it. Hibbert and Anthony Davis are two guys who alter way more shots than what shows up in their block stats.
  2. Eridony - you have a talent. This was one of my favorite Cleveland photo threads of all time, right up there with a few of MayDay's. That said, I don't know if anything will ever top PeterGriffin's masterpiece - http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,16950.msg314256.html#msg314256

If your not totally committed to staying in the City proper, you might be able to find a (small) unit in the Cedar-Fairmount neighborhood of Cleveland Heights in that price range. Most likely a third floor unit of a house. That neighborhood is the closest I can think of in the area that fits your desires.

Things are going OK for the GOP incumbents. For the Democrat incumbents, the nation is crumbling into anarchy, Muslim jihadists are preparing for an mass invasion, white Christian girls are being raped and their rapists are getting Presidential pardons, guns are being taken away from law abiding citizens and given to anyone who can prove a gang affiliation, and Apple pies are being purposefully infected with Ebola.

Andy has turned into one of the best set shooters amongst the league's big men from beyond 10 feet. He used to be awful, but now is close to 50% on anything outside the lane. For big men, take a look back at how those championship Bulls teams used a center-by-committee approach. Bill Cartwright, Will Perdue, Bill Wellington, Scott Williams, Luc Longley, Andrew Lang, James Edwards, etc....... just a bunch of bodies who were used to burn fouls and knock down 10 foot jumpers.

While I am probably voting for Kasich anyways, I am getting a kick out of all the ads touting how Kasich brought Ohio out of shambles and on the road to recovery. I don't see Dems challenging him too much on that, and you certainly don't hear a peep out of his GOP allies, it is comical that Ohio's recovery during Kasich's term is no better than America's 'absolutely dismal recovery' we heard about non-stop leading up to the 2012 election. Hypocrisy like this confirms so much...
  7. It's difficult to put a finger on a single cause. We are definitely 'green' in the defensive backfield, which is leading to some confusion in coverage. The current team also plays a more aggressive form of coverage than Tressel's "bend but don't break" philosophy. We also have to admit that we have been very spoiled over the past 15 or so years of Buckeye football with no shortage of great/elite DBs, including but not limited to Antoine Winfield, Shawn Springs, Chris Gamble, Bradley Roby, Nate Clements, Mike Doss, Damon Moore, Donte Whitner, Ahmad Plummer, Dustin Fox, Derrick Ross, Donnie Nickey, Will Allen, Ashton Youboty, Kurt Coleman, and Chimdi Chekwa. The DBs has always been one of our strengths and we are not used to not having the star power back there....... not to mention this appears to be a down year at LB for use too.

^^Marc Gasol. I like both him and Hibbert. My issue is that both are lane cloggers, which is good for this team on defense but bad for this team on offense. Given the makeup of our roster, I either want a C who can shoot from the outside or someone who is athletic enough to play in transition and really work the pick and roll. We need someone who is going to pull the opposing center out of the lane and/or run him ragged. ^TSpence is only a notch above Beachwood trainer guy

    No thanks
  10. This is the worst Buckeye pass defense I have ever seen. I don't get it. It's not due to a lack of talent. A little green, I suppose. It might be schematic. Poor LB play, which we've had IMO, can also affect coverage by causing the safeties to move up a few steps

The second Bogans trade creates even more flexibility. I was mistaken upthread when I said Bogans and his non-guaranteed deal could potentially be traded at the deadline or next summer. While that is technically true, in order to maintain the non-guaranteed of his contract for next year, we had to guarantee it this year. It's a tricky contract. So we would've essentially had to make the choice now when we would want Bogans' contract to appeal to another team. The trade exception we got from Philly is the same amount of "invisible money" as Bogans and lasts for a full calendar year.

Kyrie is mow the youngest player on the roster. It shouldn't have, but that surprised me

We traded all 3 of the Utah guys plus Dwight Powell plus a few 2nd rounders to Boston for SG Keith Bogans. He played well for the Nets 2 years ago. Last year in Boston, he got lost in that team's youth movement. A good defender and capable shooter. But the real value in this trade is his contract, which is non-guaranteed at $5.5 million both this season and next. He could be used as bait at the trade deadline but more likely to be part of a package next summer with Haywood, combining with him for $16 million in non guaranteed salary next season. That is the kind of salary cap relief that could be dangled to entice a desperate team to give up a real nice asset in order to dump a bad contract, or we could use it to sign and trade for an established player who wants out of his current situation

^I think Dion will definitely benefit, but not as much as Kyrie. Huge weight off Kyrie's shoulder. Other teams won't be able to focus their gameplan on slowing him down and he doesn't have to assume that role of team leader he either didn't want or wasn't ready for. The Morris Twins (Marcus and Markief), John Salmons, Wayne Ellington, Hakim Warrick and some other lesser known NBA players and prospects (D-league guys).
  19. I comment on the design and functionality of a lot of places I would never live in. But, yes, I would probably not want to live or work in a building where people in suits share elevators and common areas with people who are in their PJs or bathrobes. I have no opinion on what others might think or its effect on the market.
  20. ^^Erieview Tower does have separate elevator banks ^I assume you mean while it is still being used as an office too? I have no qualms with converting office into residential, so long as the entire building, except the first two or three floors at most, is converted to residential. I can't think of many such mixed uses in Cleveland. Bradley Building in the WHD?
  21. If it brings "Top of the Town" back, I'm all for it. Generally, I'm not in favor of office towers being partially converted to residential. I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I even have some hesitancy about mixing up hotels and residences.

Seems like Dion took Lebron's "be ready" advice to heart. He looks to be in the best shape of his career....
  23. It's a combination of both. Mwd711 is absolutely correct that it generates a TON of web traffic. Local racists get all giddy when they see any news of crime in CH because they HATE communities like CH and are desperately seeking vindication for their views of the City and 'diversity'. But the other suggested reason is very real and I had a conversation with a CH cop about this just a few months ago. Apparently, when that incident happened, the Chief not only would not give the reporter what he was entitled to have, but he made him wait for several hours in the lobby just to tell him to get lost in the end. Then, when the report is finally released, it is improperly redacted. The current campaign is payback. The City knows it and, frankly, the PD is winning this fight. The Chief was in the wrong, no doubt about that. Whether that justifies the smear campaign is questionable at best IMO. All that said, violent crime is up a bit in CH. Nothing too drastic and certainly no one can claim that the City was all peaches and ice cream in recent memory, but its hard to deny that there has been an uptick.... especially with crimes committed in CH by non-CH residents.
  24. Assuming the numbers have not changed that much since an official list/study was last released released, the placement of Cleveland's CSA on the listing above seems to be fairly accurate. Of course, the 170 is not the official CSA GDP. That is a rough calculation when you add up Cleveland, Akron, and Canton's MSAs. There might be another $10mill or so if there are areas in the CSA which are not within any of those MSAs. http://www.city-data.com/forum/city-vs-city/1378816-2010-combined-statistical-area-gross-product.html
