Cleveland Browns Discussion
Haden looked bad? He was right there with Brown on each time he was covering him, even making up the ground on that one touchdown after Brown pushed off (with no flag thrown). He was simply the victim of perfect throws and catches. The ball was right where it needed to be on each of those..... nearly indefensible. With these new rules handcuffing the DBs, the smaller, quicker receivers like Brown are going to thrive. The only way to guard those guys before was to get your hands on them. I don't care if it is Dion Sanders out there, nobody is staying step for step with the likes of Antonio Brown if you are not allowed to put a hand on him in coverage. He is too 'jitter-buggy' to cover like a blanket under these new rules. Brown had a great day, but Haden was right there on him for most of those catches.

Cleveland: Marketing the City
Based on all of his twitter and instagram posts, LeBron sure is pushing "The Land"..... oftentimes adding #TheLand to his posts, especially when reference is made to Cleveland. That is actually what my friends and I have always most commonly called it amongst ourselves.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
There is some truth to that. Lot's of people hibernate in the summer in the southeast. 95 and humid day and day is just as tiring as 20 and windchill day after day. That said, the wintertime outdoor activities are much more plentiful....... more people jog, hike, ride bikes during those months than up north.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Well..... don't forget that a lot of the prep work, especially the abatement, had already been done. And the façade didn't need the restoration work a lot of the adaptive re-uses we have seen in this City recently. He didn't have to create a blank canvas out of a former office building..... he basically bought one. Are you kidding me? I can't tell you how many men, hours, blood, sweat, and tears went into making this deadline.... I love people who talk out there rear. The abatement was NOT done fully, and lets not forget the county building was under construction at the same time... This building was in crap condition. You won't find another developer as fast, efficient, and cost effective as Geis in Northeast Ohio period... I'm sure their a great company and have done a fantastic job over they're at the 9. I wasn't trying to hurl any insults there way, whether through my post or my rear. It was more a comment on any perceived sluggishness of other re-uses we have seen recently, which were mostly all done from buildings in crap condition

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
^That is 2 years from now when the new TV deal kicks in and max contracts will skyrocket. But the salary cap should rise proportionally to accommodate a larger share of the revenue going to the players. This year, the Cavs are over the cap already by a little more than $5mill. Andy would have to take a cut of nearly his entire salary...... over $7mill of the $9.8 he is due.... to get us anymore flexibility than we already have with the minimum veteran exception.

^Andy taking a pay cut will not help us bring in another vet next summer. Once Kyrie and KLove's new contracts kick in, and they add on to Lebron's, the Cavs are going to be left playing with the MLE at best for the next 5-6 years. The only thing Andy taking a pay cut would do would perhaps save Gilbert some $$ on the luxury tax. I have no issue with paying, even overpaying Andy. The guy earns his money and he should be a Cav for life. With that said, we already know that we are going to massively overpay Tristan next summer.

The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
The offense seemed to catch its stride as the game went along. Barrett had close to a 75% completion percentage. I thought his decision making was exceptional for a RS freshman. What was lacking was any sense of a power running game. With no Carlos Hyde and a very green offensive line, that shouldn't come as a surprise. Navy's defense, although limited athletically, was very experienced and hung in there as well as it could. The defense is very hard to judge on a game like this. Navy is one of the best 'gimmick' teams in the country. They do one thing and do it very well. It can be frustratingly hard to stop. The defense lost a few 'game of inches' moments, most notably Navy's first touchdown as well as a few critical first downs. Best as I can tell, however, we continue to have a huge weakness at MLB. Our defense requires a stud MLB and Grant ain't it. I don't understand why he is so bulky. Being too muscular can hurt your mobility, and he plays like a stiff, figuratively and literally. Time to give the freshman a look, I think. Too many times yesterday Von Bell was having to clean up Grant's whiffs.

Dion Lewis too. I'm surprised by both of those cuts Obignaya not so much. Obi is a good football player, but probably not much more than a special teamer in the NFL

As long as we are out in left field, I would like to mention that you should never criticize someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes. At least then you are a mile away, and you have their shoes.

Good summary, Columbo. Here are a few names I would add to the watchlist: HB/WR Jalin Marshal - every bit the recruit Wilson was but got hurt last year. WR Corey Smith - looked good in the spring game WR/RB Noah Brown - true freshman who is built like a young David Boston S - Vonn Bell - stud CB- Eli Apple - extremely high ceiling LB/S Chris Worley and Devon Bogard - two Glenville kids who are right behind Lee in that combo role. Bogard just needs to stay healthy

^Not true. There seems to have been a slight mitigation of the penalty at the time of the original ruling. The arbitrator had no authority to modify the penalty..... he either had to uphold it or reverse the decision in total. The mitigation which apparently happened is that Josh can apply for reinstatement as soon as the 2014 season comes to an end. So he could be officially back on the field during the summer minicamps. Hell... even a Bill Clinton toke off the blunt is apparently worse than knocking out a woman.

^Do his articles get published in the print edition? I thought he was more of an online contributor. Sort of like Glenn Moore for the Browns, whereas Tom Reed is doing most of the print stuff.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
^That's where I would put my money if I had to bet, but keep in mind that the 2009 Cavs only lost 16 games. The 2008 Celtics (the first year of the KG, Allen, Pierce Big 3) only lost 16 games. Regardless, the Browns are not losing 16 games. No way. Did the PD ever get around to hiring a new beat reporter? Tom Withers (AP) seems to have good Cavs info. When he reports something, you can trust it. He doesn't just throw spaghetti against the wall when it comes to trade rumors and free agency. I just started following him, so I'm not sure how his game analysis will be. I still think Pluto has the best analysis of on-the-court stuff. Windy definitely understands the league best as it pertains to the way the NBA operates, the CBA, and the thinking of other franchises. I'm pretty sure Lloyd's source within the Cavs was Chris Grant. He had a good run while it lasted, but he hasn't broke any news in a long time. Ain't nothing wrong with double negatives ;)

^I am surprised by that comment. Delly played well last year and showed some real improvement in summer league. I guess he can be considered more of a combo guard and you wouldn't necessarily want him starting if Kyrie is lost for any stretch of time. I actually think that Dion would do well at PG in a pinch with this team as it is constructed. For certain, I would not be opposed to adding Billups or Allen, as both are true professionals and would have a positive influence in the locker room.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
KLove's press conference was held today. Very personable guy. He said that he was the first call LeBron made after announcing he was coming home. Love's response to LBj was "I'm in". He also confirmed that he is committed long term to the team. He talked about his relationship and mutual respect with LeBron. He mentioned how he thought Kyrie and Uncle Drew were both great players (tongue-in-cheek). He said he has worked with Dion before during the summertime in LA. He had just had a workout with Mike Miller and James Jones at the practice facility. He already has a place to live. He will wear #0. #42 is retired and even though Nate Thurmond gave him his blessing, Love saw this as a chance to start fresh with a new number. His second choice would've been #11, but that was Z's number. His third choice was #7, but that was Bingo's number. So he went back to #0 which he got by default when he was a kid for being late to a youth basketball game and no other jerseys left in the bin. He noted that it would represent his home state of Oregon and his new state, Ohio.
