Cleveland Cavs Discussion
No. That is not what I said. I said that he was "one of ESPN's top analysts." That doesn't make him THE top analyst for basketball or even ESPN's top analyst. It makes him ONE of the top analysts under contract with ESPN. At least it does in the minds of the people who make decisions at ESPN, which matters much more than your opinion of him and his talents. Also, other media outlets pay more than ESPN, believe it or not. Yahoo pays Woj more than any of the ESPN guys get paid. Sheridan broke out on his own for the freedom and paycheck. Others have gone to TNT, NBAtv, etc. As for Windy being wrong about anything leading up to the LeBron decision, he was likely being fed bad info by Riley..... possibly via Broussard. LeBron's camp completely shut out ESPN, not just Windy. But I think the only thing that he was wrong about was whether the letter was still an issue. He never said LeBron was not coming back.

^And when the Rams QBs put the ball exactly where it needed to be. A few of those Bradford throws would've been completed, even with Dion Sanders and Ronnie Lott in double-coverage. There are indeed times in the NFL when there is literally nothing the defense can do to stop it. Ironically, as well as the Rams played and as awful as the Browns played, I'm still 10x more pissed if I am a Rams' fan following Saturday's game. We took a beating which no one will remember in a week, but they took a 'beating' which will be felt all year and possibly beyond.

I am not sure what you are disagreeing with me about. All I said is he is one of ESPN's top analysts. That is a fact, not a matter of opinion. That he evolved from covering the Heat to covering the entire NBA is also a fact, not a matter of opinion. As for being wrong this summer.... everyone was, except for Chris Sheridan, thanks to his leaks over at SI.

^It really has nothing to do with that. Windy makes more money at ESPN than he did at the PD and ABJ combined. He is one of their top NBA analysts. He might've rode LeBron's coattails tot he top, but he seems to have solidified his place on his own merits.

Only on 3rd down. In other words, when it counted. I'm not panicking about the D, though. We were missing our two starting CBs. I am panicking about the O. If the O can't keep the defense off the field, it will make that unit look a lot worse than it is.

Windhorst does not live in Florida. He lasted there for only a year or two. He now lives in the NYC area and his role with ESPN has expanded significantly beyond covering the Heat. No way he takes the pay cut to 'come back home' A rim-protecting big man. The pickings are slim. Okafur is available but won't play until mid-season. Rizzo dropped a minor bombshell last night indicating Big Z is testing the waters on a comeback. More likely, I would think, is that we trade the 3 Utah guys for some big man making in the neighborhood of $5mill annually...... which would equate to someone 'serviceable' at best. We still have another 30 days or so before we can trade all 3 in a package.

I'm starting to get a good feeling about the Gordon issue. I think the league is leaving this in limbo either to negotiate a compromise or simply to teach him a lesson by making him wait and ponder what life would be like without football

I hear that concern a lot. However, I heard some coach (can't remember which) explain it away best. It's not like Kyrie wouldn't be playing ball everyday. Would you rather have him training and playing with the best, under Coach K, or would you rather him playing pickup games at some gym or park with s bunch of guys intent on proving they were robbed of their chance to play in the NBA? The players don't go into a bubble during the offseason. The older vets could use the time off, but Kyrie is young and wouldn't have his feet up if he remained home

No big surprise, but Kyrie made the final 12 man roster going to Spain for the FIBA World Cup. He and DRose are the PGs. Wall and Lillard were cut in the first and last round of cuts, respectively. Curry is on the team too, but Coach K has been using him at SG

The rule change not only applies to holding, but any contact by the DB once the WR is 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage.

NFL: General News & Discussion
Pittspuke's top two RBs (Bell and Blount) were both arrested on marijuana possession. I want to say that Blount was already in the league's substance abuse program. Good news for the rest of the AFC North. I'm also hearing that the NFL is getting a TON of criticism from all angles about the penalties being called this preseason. The rule changes are making the games nearly unwatchable. Something needs to be done about this, even if it is just the refs going overboard in the preseason. The league really needs to stop all these rule changes designed to increase scoring. Such a gameplan might entice new fans, but it is ruining the game for us football purists who enjoy good defense as much as we enjoy arena-league style scoring.

At least it will match the 'pedestrian death trap' built over there on Prospect for the Casino's new parking garage.

He'd get interest..... just not that much as a quarterback. Best long term equation for Braxton might be him sitting out this year, JT lighting it up as a more of a pure QB, and then Braxton playing out a final year at a position which he projects better at for the NFL. My guess is that would be either WR or some kind of scat-back.

^They might also want to try to bring in a strain of Ebola to see if any of the WRs can catch it

^That is probably a regional cover for SI Losing Braxton can never be a good thing, but I actually think Barrett has the better arm and the WRs (not the offense as a whole) might be more productive with him at the helm. He somewhat reminds me of Troy Smith. Not too tall. A bit on the thicker side. Rocket arm. Quick, but not blazing fast.
