  1. No, most of the people commenting on Cleveland.bomb are absolutely gleeful every time CH is victimized by criminals coming in from other communities. Of course, they never take notice of the 'other'..... They just say 'how's that diversity workin' out for ya?!?' But I guess you all are right. We should have never let 'them' in..... Errrr..... I mean 'embraced them''.... Errrr..... I mean held out the 'carrot'..... Errrrrr....... Oh, whatever. People see what they want to see. Maybe I'm guilty of that too. But not wanting to see color in everything, even if it distorts my outlook in your opinion, is something I strive for. Being a minority in my community for most of my youth taught me a thing or two about the shoe being on the other foot, I'd like to think. Btw, you live in Cleveland, right Deansheen? Would ya mind keeping your murderers and thieves out of my city. Thanks (sarcasm most definitely intended)

Finnan -- @BobCavsinsider: Source: Cleveland Cavaliers have not offered Andrew Wiggins in possible trade with Minnesota Timberwolves http://t.co/8kk40E3KCA I wonder if Bob realizes how he was used by Minny on this one. Sounds like someone from the Cavs set him straight
  3. Ah, but that is exactly what CH has done so well for so long. It's why the Cleveland.bomb haters dislike it so much
  4. Too much generalizing going on here. We're still talking about people, right?

In order to sign Love outright next summer, we'd have to renounce our rights to LBJ. If that happens, we can't go over the cap to sign him. With his contract and Kyrie's, there is virtually no way to clear enough space to sign another guy to a max contract without doing a sign and trade. But that is where Haywood comes into play. Next summer, his contract (even though it is unguaranteed) would count as $10.5mill towards a trade and then the team which obtains him can waive him without him counting against their cap. I still think everyone is getting this information from Minny execs. The AP has monumentally more stringent standards than these other outfits when it comes to claiming the report is credibly sourced and both the Cleveland and Minny AP reporters have said that Wiggins has not been offered
  6. The difference between CH/SH and cities such as Garfield Hts, Maple Hts, and Euclid (to a lesser degree) is the speed of white flight. In the latter examples, those cities were mostly white decades after CH and SH began diversifying, but the exodus was massive and exponentially faster.

Love might get moved while you wait it out. Golden State is very interested and has the assets to get it done. One advantage they have is the ability to take back Kevin Martin's contract, which Minny wants to get rid of. But Minny wants Klay Thompson in addition to other assets (Lee and/or Barnes, plus picks) and GSW is balking, reportedly. I really think Finnan's source was a Minnesota exec. trying the both put pressure on GSW to cough up Thompsons and see how the Cavs react. Finnan's report created a mini-domino effect on twitter. That the Cavs have not publicly repudiated the rumor is not necessarily proof that they have offered him up as reported, but rather that Wiggins is not off-the-table, as the Cavs want Minny to believe.
  8. We don't disagree all that much, C17..... except for the horse training analogy
  9. The proliferation of low income residences has more to due with aging and outdated housing stock in certain parts of those cities than anything CH or SH have "bent over backwards" to achieve "in the name of diversity". I still don't get that comment at all, but I do understand and appreciate your remaining points. Thanks for the contribution. But this is certainly not the case on the east side of the City, and definitely not in the areas which are very close to the inner ring burbs we are discussing. To the extent some lower class whites are left on the west side, they generally seem to fall into that 'certain subculture' E Rocc is referencing, which only further proves my point that it is poverty and not something as arbitrary as race which you can attribute to increases in crime. Sorry to disappoint. But, regardless, you can't deny that inner city poverty is more commonly seen in minorities in about every major city in the US. There certainly are plenty of poor white people (which I assume is what you mean by PWP), but they are much more disproportionately found off the grid.

I really doubt that Finnan would be the first to have that information.
  11. And that characteristic is almost always poverty. Poor white people who typically get into more fights, use more drugs and alcohol, act obnoxiously, dress obnoxiously, etc., etc. typically don't live in urban neighborhoods. They prefer trailers over duplexes and apartments.
  12. I agree with his comment about leaders wanting to maintain the status quo. The Malcolm X philosophy of only black people can help black people is outdated and not practical. He realized that before he died.... and, if fact, that realization and the reflective change in his sermons might have been the reason why he was killed.

As much as I hate the term "lol"...... I definitely lol'd!
  14. Probably worthy of its own thread, but I'll put it in here until a mod makes that call: Leader Building will be sold to K&D; apartment developer plans next downtown Cleveland project CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Another downtown Cleveland building is set to become apartments - and this time, the property isn't an empty office tower or a shuttered department store. The K&D Group, Inc. plans to buy the Leader Building, at 526 Superior Ave., in a deal that could close by mid-August. Roughly 60 percent full, the 16-story office building is a longer-term, mixed-use play for K&D, which expects to sit on the property for two to three years before converting most of the floors to housing. * * * * * "We're buying it as an ongoing, existing office building, so this is much different than most of the deals in the past," Doug Price, K&D's chief executive officer, said of the Leader Building. "I can tell you that the first floor is certainly going to stay retail," he added. "From there, we're not sure how many floors are going to stay commercial. But we're thinking we want to get about 230 apartments in there." http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/07/leader_building_will_be_sold_t.html#incart_river
  15. Ummmm..... Lakewood?
  16. It indeed was and still is horribly glorified by the rap business. But it didn't originate in rap. It is a term that has been around for nearly a millennia. Today, those who use it derisively, mostly use it as a substitute for the N word.
  17. What's needed is a repudiation and eradication of the notion that there is a white community and a black community. If you genuinely want to help with a solution, that is a good starting point.
  18. Yeah, I'm confused too. It appears that Lerner College of Medicine and CWRU School of Medicine are separate schools, but Lerner is still affiliated with CWRU. Is that correct?
  19. E Rocc has posited that rationale plenty of times. But there are lots of coded ways nowadays of saying something. The term 'thug' is a good example. You certainly won't hear that term assigned to all violent offenders. It wasn't used to describe the head-bangers who got into that massive brawl on the Lakewood-Cleveland border. You won't hear it assigned to the bully at Bay Village HS. You certainly will hear it used to describe individuals who are not black, but only when those individuals meet certain stereotypes assigned to black youth, regardless of what actions they might have taken. To be clear, I was questioning the notion that the solution needs to come from within a certain 'community.' The 'subculture' meme is a pointless debate. It's the equivalent of the "I'm not touching you" game siblings taunt each other with...

Do you have a link? That would almost raise more questions/concerns..... such as what he was doing with a wad of cash before signing on with any agency or endorsements.
  21. I don't know who you mean by 'we', but as long as outsiders see it as a problem of a certain 'community' and take the Malcolm X approach of help can only come from within, we will never solve anything. It's neither a problem for the black community to deal with or you might call a white man's burden. We don't separate communities by hair color, eye color, height, or any other physical trait. We shouldn't do so by race or under the guise of a 'certain subculture'

It was? I thought it was from June.

Short of a trade, it is going to be hard to find a quality center to complete the roster. All we have left to offer is the veteran minimum, and any serviceable big man can easily get three times that on the open market. More likely, we will go with a rotation of Andy and some space eaters who won't light the world on fire for any Cavs fan, with Tristan occasionally playing some 5 when we use smaller lineups. It's possible a player like Jermaine O'Neal would sign on for a championship run, since he has never won one (IIRC). Emeka Okafur is another possibility, although I'd view that as a really long shot for him to agree to the vet minimum. Same goes for Byron Mullens, but at least he is a local kid (Canton) who might think a return home could help him reach his potential. Epke Udoh, Joel Anthony, and (as much as I hate to say it) Ryan Hollins are also possibilities. One potential solution I see is if Minny gets desperate and REALLY wants Wiggins, but will also insist that Bennett is included, we demand that Dieng be part of the return package with Love. As unlikely as it seems that Minny would throw Dieng in to sweeten the pot, they do already have Pekovic signed long term, so it is not out of the question IMO.
