I'm all in. Bolstered by two independent sources both saying it is a done deal, one of whom works closely with the man (or at least did when he was with the Cavs and whenever he is back home), and the other who I don't know personally but has usually had very good info ahead of time. The former, I actually don't care for that much on a personal level, so it could be a win-win for me if Lebron doesn't come back and I get to take him down a peg ;)

Bosh opted out of his contract. He is no longer under contract with the Heat. However, Miami still holds his "Bird Rights" (that clause of the CBA that allows his own team to offer him one more year and larger yearly increases in a max contract). Miami would simply need to renounce any rights it holds on Bosh in order to sign Melo

Looks like Riley just used the bi-annual exception on him...... which means, contingent on the Big Three returning, the Heat will have their old roster minus Battier (and probably Birdman) plus Nappier, McRoberts, and (washed up, worn down) Granger, plus whomever they can convince to sign up on veteran minimum salaries. FWIW, there has always been a rumbling that Granger and Lebron have a strong personal dislike for each other. Riley might've been better off signing Lance Stephenson :)

Miami has the same cap problems, or even worse, if they try to replace Bosh with Carmelo. There was an outside chance that Bosh would take somewhere around $5mill less annually than he could get on the open market. No way Melo takes that kind of paycut when both the Knicks and the Lakers have the full max salary on the table for him. Regardless, the issue is not keeping a Big Three intact. Miami can do that easy. The issue is upgrading the rest of the roster. Riley swung and missed on Kyle Lowry (re-signed with Toronto), swung and missed on Marcin Gortat (re-signed with Washington). He wanted Gasol or Deng to take the full mid-level exception (around $5.5 annually) which would've been a huge pay-cut for either of those players..... but he obviously whiffed on that too considering he just agreed in principle to use the MLE on Josh McRoberts (you can only use the MLE once), who isn't exactly what you would term the 'missing piece'
