It is misinformation season. The Cavs are at the forefront of that. With Embiid not an option at #1, they probably want to see what kind of King's Ransom they can get for #1. Philly has #3 and #10, and the word is they want Wiggins. Orlando has #4 and #12. Utah has #5 and wants Parker, probably because he is a Mormon. There also is a rumor that Parker actually prefers Milwaukee over all the other teams in the top 5 since he is from Chicago and would be closer to home. If the feeling is mutual, Milwaukee might pony up and we could still get one of Parker/Wiggins/Exum. If last year's draft taught us anything, don't believe the smokescreens on draft week. Nobody has any idea who the Cavs are picking. I would expect a different 'consensus' prediction each day up until the draft. Parker wants to be here.... he doesn't want to be here.... he's out of shape.... he looked great.... etc., etc.

I am not sure of the stats, but I would bet that a lot of Miami season ticket holders are corporate and of that ilk. The bigger question is will those season ticket holders find as many takers who want to use the seats.

^^I suppose, in the strictest sense of the word "employer"..... but then so is Nike and PowerAde. The Heat have an exclusive rights contract.... and Lebron can choose to terminate that contract next week with Miami having absolutely no recourse. But you're missing the point. There is no playing hardball with Lebron. If he chooses to no longer be an "employee" of the Heat, a choice he can make in a few days, there would never be a situation in which he would come back on hands and knees begging Pat Riley to give him another chance. The opposite scenario (Riley begging Lebron) is not likely either, but still 1,000,000 times more probable. ^I get the Cleveland hate for Lebron, but does he really deserve the d-bag label? He has never really been in any trouble, legally or with the NBA. He is a family man who married his high school sweetheart and is a great father to his kids. He is charitable (aside from rumors of his tipping practices). He does a lot for the community, no matter where he is.
  4. ^I don't know about unfathomable. It wouldn't have been unfathomable during my time of house parties 20 years ago..... that was during the 90's when gun violence was at its peak, of course. It still would've been pretty shocking, as I'm sure it is today.

^Right. On top of that, this is exactly what the Metroparks does..... managing park systems is the very purpose of the organization, whereas it is a very small component of the City's overall operation.

Not to elicit 10 more paragraphs about "The Bay" (the absolute last thing this Board needs), but this is further confirmation what I said a few months ago about "Area" being dropped....
  7. Where are our council members speaking out on this?!?!? You used the word "ever", not me. But to answer your hypothetical, about 70-80% per this investigation.....http://www.newsnet5.com/news/local-news/cleveland-metro/in-cleveland-youve-got-about-a-30-percent-chance-of-getting-away-with-murder We have a very good homicide unit compared to many other comparable cities and they don't deserve any unwarranted flack. The arrest/charged rate is probably higher since often there is not enough evidence of probable cause to get an indictment and/or to get a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt
  8. Ever? Most certainly. I'm sure if you investigated, you could find more than a few capital murder trials which have been held at the Justice Center.
  9. If they took the piece with them, it would be theft. Either way, a criminal damaging charge would apply, I suppose.

^Now that sounds more like the modern day NBA..... #StephensonEarBlow #JRSmithShoeLaces

That was a perfect ball. Absolutely perfect. Anybody other than Ronaldo and I might say it was pure luck. If you want to be royally pissed, look to the first goal Portugal scored. That was just sloppy defense.
  12. ^not a gang initiation? Wow. I'm kinda shocked Not to be overly technical, but I'm not sure 'vandalism' and 'vandals' are the proper terms....... Unless the knuckleheads climbed the monument with the intent of doing damage

This logic, if you will, does not apply to Riley and Lebron. Lebron is not an "employee".... he is the talent. If Riley were to say "if you walk out that door, don't dream of coming back", well.... there would be 29 other NBA teams willing to open their doors to LBJ. Riley is in no position to be issuing ultimatums or threats. If anything, Riley (not Lebron) should be worrying about burning bridges.

We hired a guy from overseas, not the 1950s.
  15. I am not sure C-Bus wants to own up to that sin
  16. There's only one "THE Heights"
  17. To be clear, Chief Wahoo is not a mascot. It is a logo. Not even the Indians are dumb enough to parade about a mascot of Chief Wahoo during the games. That's why we have Slider.

It wasn't that long ago that bringing a player over from Europe was considered going against conventional wisdom. Now those players are scouted nearly as heavily, if not more, than the American players. Maybe we start a trend with hiring a coach. Considering the other options, I can't say I am disappointed. I don't know enough about the guy to be disappointed and all I hear is rave reviews. His intensity/fire is certainly going to be quite a change of pace from our last several hires.
  19. I'm still struggling with the point of this topic. Is there any contention surrounding the name?
  20. What about the Atlanta Braves? Is that name offensive? I don't see why. There is nothing offensive about naming your team after a particular group. Most American Indians I have heard talk about the subject, actually take it as an honor. The perceived intent is totally different.

It's a stress fracture and surgery will be performed on Friday. Now the Cavs want to work out Exum, my guess being they are looking more seriously at the potential trade with Philly, who wants Wiggins. If they drop down to #3, they would get one of Parker, Embiid, or Exum. If they take Exum, I would take that as a sign that they are looking to 'ship' Kyrie or Dion. I want Jabari and will be ecstatic if they stay at #1 and take him. He has been my guy from the start, healthy Embiid or not (although, as I said prior, I would have completely understood the Embiid pick).
  22. FWIW, we haven't won a World Series since Chief Wahoo became our logo. ^I stand by my original point, which I thought was made with all due respect to both sides. To me, there is a sizeable enough chuck of the population which is offended that it warrants changing the logo volitionally. It is much more than a thousand for sure, even if it doesn't approach 1 million. But I would bet, if you included not just people who are personally offended but also people who find the logo offensive, the number would be well above your 10 million. I hope that is a reasonable explanation of my position and doesn't come across as me being on a.... what did you call it before editing your post..... high horse (i.e. arrogant)?
  23. Most of the protesters, speakers, etc. I have seen on the subject have been Native American. There is an annual protest. I remember them dating back to the first opening day at Jacob's Field, along with the abuse they received by the passers-by. Besides, that 1 to 10 million is a little arbitrary, no? Did you consider there are only about 3 million people who identify as such? Is the roll of the eyes really necessary? It takes away from any substantive point you were trying to make and is rather juvenile IMO.
  24. I would neither change the Indians name or their logo. The number of people offended by it is not significant enough for me to care. So you acknowledge that there are indeed people offended by it. What number of people would it take for you to care? Which poll or other evidence are you relying on to come to your conclusion?
