I am not advocating for taking a QB at 4. Not sure where you got that from Right you are on Pinkston's draft position. It's Greco who was a third rounder (by the Rams)
  2. ^925? One can hope. FWIW, the guy I know who is heavily involved with Cleveland Construction said that K&D is not skimping at all on the materials in these conversions.

^The teams spent more than alcohol and tobacco interests, the main financial backers of the "grass-roots" opposition group. I'd agree that this town has many other problems and I would encourage anyone with the will to find a way to address them. IMO, putting equitable considerations aside, this measure took care (at least temporarily) of one of those problems.

^As I said yesterday, the 'prototypical guard' has changed dramatically over the last two decades. Gone are the days of Randall McDaniel and his 280 pound frame pulling all over the field. I played some guard in my day in a speed option offense and it really was like being a second fullback. But in today's NFL, you are much more likely to see an OT get out on the edge in front of the running back nowadays. This change, ironically, is partly a result of the zone blocking scheme, which figured out it is a lot easier to have the guard shift out to the tackle's zone on the snap of the ball and have the tackle get out on the edge. When interior lineman do pull, it is becoming more common that it is the center.... and Alex Mack is ideal for that. If we did want guards that could pull and block well in space, we should've kept Lauvao..... that was the one thing he did exceptionally well. ^^Couldn't disagree more adamantly on the defensive strategies used against us. Teams have blitzed us to death for 15 years. You won't find any reputable Browns analyst who would disagree with that. You also have to have an understanding of the DT position to know that many (if not most) defensive schemes do NOT call for the DT to blast on through the line. NFL DT's (not named Warren Sapp) are more often asked to be blockers themselves, holding off the interior lineman from getting to the second level. The fact that you have seen DT's blasting through the line with reckless abandon is actually a statement that teams are not worried about their second level players getting burned. I'm the first one to want to address the line over a 'sexy' position. But to say we don't have enough invested in our OL is confounding. Joe Thomas and Alex Mack are both 1st round picks who are the highest or among the highest paid at their respective positions. Schwartz was a high 2nd round pick and Pinkston a 3rd rounder. We took Joe Thomas in the top 5 and he is a Hall of Famer for sure. But where has that gotten us?

^They DO pay a not insignificant amount towards day to day upkeep, whether voluntarily or through the leases. As has been stated previously, the Browns' lease is a lot less favorable to the public. But I would be surprised if the Indians/Cavs don't have leases that are at least comparable to those seen in other cities. http://www.cleveland.com/naymik/index.ssf/2014/05/see_what_the_cleveland_indians.html Also, it wasn't that much of a "fight" to keep the name and colors. Baltimore wanted to start fresh and had no interest in the Brown and Orange.

I'm glad it passed, but I would still encourage the opponents to put an alternative/replacement on the ballot at the next election.

I would at least call around to the local bike shops to see if they have any used/refurbished bikes that might fit your needs. As mentioned in the other thread, one of the main concerns with buying a bike from Walmart, etc. is the assembly. Plus, chances are there is no free tune up..... which you will need within the first year once you break in the new bike and will cost you about $50. Call Cain Park bicycle and shops like that. You might be able to find a really good frame from several decades ago with all new components. Also, given your purposes, you really don't need a mountain bike. Those are not road tires. They are made for go off-road and will cause more friction on the concrete. You want something with a flatter tread on top. Look for what is called a "hybrid" or you might want to consider a "comfort bike" (i.e. something akin to a beach cruiser)..... something more like http://www.walmart.com/ip/26999382?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227018928558&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=35747949636&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=53509709196&veh=sem

^But Carthon was an absolute BEAST on Tecmo Bowl ^^I hear you. But I think those rushing results have as much to do with poor RB/QB play and bad scheming as they do with OL play. For over a decade, teams know to stack the box on us in short yardage and pin their ears back because we haven't had any QBs that could burn them for doing that. So much blame gets put on the OL, but 5 guys can't block 7-8. We need RBs and QBs that keep the front 7 of the defense on its heels. We need RBs that can read a defense and make a cut-back when necessary. We need a QB that can audible out of a dive play and into a quick slant when the defense stacks the middle.

I like all three of OSU's 1st round prospects this year and would be happy with the Browns taking any of them. There's been plenty of mocks which have them taking Roby or Hyde. I'm surprised we haven't seen any in which we take Shazier when he drops to #26. He would be a perfect fit as the weakside ILB in our 3-4, right next to Dansby. He's right behind Mosley, and Roby and Hyde are the best prospects at their positions IMO.

^Do me a favor. Put your lip over your head... and swallow.
  11. I think you all are making a mistake by assuming this is all attributable to one guy It took more than a single complaint from one person to trigger a raid Friday on the Loren Naji gallery in Ohio City, where state agents confiscated beer and wine. The Cleveland office of the Ohio Dept. of Public Safety received multiple complaints over several months about loud noise at the gallery, said Greg Croft, agent in charge of the investigative unit, in an interview Monday. http://www.cleveland.com/arts/index.ssf/2014/05/state_agents_responded_to_mult.html As I assumed..... Croft said that state agents did not intend to create a scene at Naji’s gallery, but that officers had to ask the crowd of roughly 100 to 150 patrons to leave the gallery when, in his words, some of them started “chanting obscenities” at the agents. Yes, even the artsy-fartsy types can a little bit of the F%&K THE POLICE attitude.

Absolutely not. Just like you, I look forward to its decision granting equal rights to all people, regardless of sexual orientation. I look forward to it smacking down Oklahoma for its discriminatory approach to religious displays in public spaces. I really like it when the Court strikes down laws from bat-sh!t crazy states like Texas who want to criminalize what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedroom and I eagerly anticipate it doing the same with North Carolina's law criminalizing the exercise of a minister's right to officiate a wedding. No need to worry. You will soon be able to leave Babylon..... errrrr, I mean NYC..... for greener pastures and not have to worry about getting thrown in jail for your daily activities. Odd that you think the rights granted in the constitution are not granted equally....... and that we have to go about doing so, but not before we reinforce what 'we' already have. I think I get it. Reinforcement now. Equality later.

I don't have any 'deeply held', silly belief system. But it is good to hear you feel that way. I look forward to your letter to the Oklahoma legislature expressing your support for the Baphomet Statue http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=29255.0 After all, those folks just want 'equal' rights to express their own beliefs.
  16. ^^That was more of a general statement. You can film anything within public view, including anything on or inside private property so long as it is visible from a public space or someone else's property. If it is not within public view, then you need the property owner's consent. The qualifier "as long as the filmer's physical presence didn't interfere with law enforcement" is more specific to this situation and that is the authority I assume the OIU was relying on. I wasn't there, so I don't know what orders were given. But I do know that more people than not simply assume that they can stand right over a cop and film his every move. Now imagine 20 people doing that all at the same time while the cop is trying to conduct his investigation or make an arrest. It is inevitable that you have at least one guest at an event like this who, already convinced that what the cops were doing was wrong, got a little overzealous. Cops are allowed to give whatever orders are necessary for them to maintain a safe distance, no matter whether they are raiding a crack house, a strip club, a gambling ring, or an art gallery opening. If the cops ordered the guests to stop taking pictures simply because they didn't want their picture taken, that is not constitutional. But if they ordered them to stop taking pictures because of a couple of overzealous guests were being obstinately defiant, which is very believable in this situation, that is better than arresting the individuals. I suppose there also is the possibly that the unit conducting the raid contained some undercover operatives, which could give rise to an interesting discussion of whether they could outright prohibit any photography.
  17. Oh absolutely. Hope you don't mind agreeing with me. I would have been cheating though because if they tried to arrest me, as soon as I got out I'd be on the phone with the Rutherford Institute, which makes the ACLU look like rookie public defenders and has a really poor attitude towards government trying to operate in secret. Then I'd figure out what I was going to spend my settlement on. As far as I know their is no law against photographing police activity in public. The day there is is a chilling one as far as freedom is concerned. You are allowed to photograph and/or film anything within public view. The guests certainly could've stood out on the sidewalk and photographed/filmed what was going on inside. These types of stories all too often get distorted. My guess, and that is all this is, is that the police had asked people to either clear the gallery or clear a particular area of the gallery so that they could conduct their investigation. Certain guests refused, wanting to get the whole incident on film. The issue probably was not the filming, but their refusal to clear the area..... even if it was not interpreted that way. If your photography or filming is interfering with an investigation, the cops can absolutely order you to stop.

I would much rather that the people of Pittsburgh (i.e. other people) pay for the repairs to OUR sports complexes, but that ain't gonna happen. Waiting until the stadiums are "literally" falling on people's heads? Seriously? That's just flat out stupidity. Putting aside the massive liability concerns of your suggestion, preventative maintenance is almost always the more economically sound way of going about being a landlord, especially in ECONOMICALLY DEPRESSED CITIES. If you properly maintain a building, it won't deteriorate to the point of needing to be replaced. If anything, I would think that we would understand that on UO.

Who's arguing? We're just talking football here. Getting back to that, maybe you would prefer a guy like Carl Nicks, Jahri Evans, Andy Levitre, Logan Mankins, Ben Grubbs, Marshal Yanda, Justin Blalock, Evan Mathis, or Jerome Clary? Those are all the highest paid (in that order) and amongst the highest regarded offensive guards in the league. Nicks, Evans, Levitre, Mankins, Yanda, Blalock, and Clary all spent their entire college careers at OT..... most of them being left tackles at the college level. Mathis played OT for 3 seasons before switching to OG for his senior year. Grubbs was a DT, and then a TE, before finally moving to OG. That seems like some fairly solid evidence that drafting a college OT and making him an OG in the NFL ain't all that bush-league of an idea.

^So long as they start the school board meeting with a prayer giving thanks to Baby Jesus and his many blessings, I believe that they are free to regulate whatever they want from that point on.....
  21. I hate toe clips and stirrups. I have been doing heavy city riding for 5 years now and find that riding without them far outweighs any benefit. If I was road biking on the towpath and wanted a steady speed for 20+ miles, I might want clips. But for jaunting around town, no way. I've only had one time where I ripped up my shin on the pedal teeth by my foot slipping off the pedal, but that was more due to the type of shoe I was wearing and it happened when I was hopping back on my bike while crossing a major street. All bike shops help with fittings. They all should let you test ride. Like I said before, I prefer a tire thicker than a 28. Most road bikes are 28 or thinner. Most mountain bikes are 48. The bike I currently ride has 38's and it strikes a nice balance. I would consider 32's, as well. The nice thing about having a thicker tire is obviously pot-hole protection, but also the ability to jump on a curb in an instant if necessary. Especially in your price range, I would be worried that the rims which came with any 28's could be problematic on Cleveland's roads..... especially after this last winter. As for diameter, you probably want to be looking for 700, which is fairly standard.
  22. Hts121 replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Sports Talk
Guards are not extra fullbacks in today's NFL. Teams use to put the 'plodders' and 'road graders' at tackle with the more athletic linemen at guard, but ever since Larry Allen's success with the Cowboys combined with a new breed of edge/speed rushers and the proliferation of the 3-4 defense, teams have switched their philosophy. Guards now tend to be 'rounder' and less athletic than tackles. Tackles and centers tend to pull and trap more than guards. It is a drastic change somewhat from what you might have played in high school. And you also have to consider that we are switching to a zone blocking scheme..... and not just any zone blocking scheme, but the Shanahan zone blocking scheme. That scheme absolutely depends on more athletic tackles who can move in space, which would be the reason why I would not be surprised at all to see the Browns take Robinson or Matthews and have Schwartz move over to compete at guard.

The Jake could use a new scoreboard. The Browns could use a whole new stadium. Anytime there is an issue like this, the campaigns distort things. We've certainly seen it from both sides on this issue..... although, as I've said before, I'm not sure if the distortions coming from the opposition are intentional or simply the result of ignorance.
  24. ^I don't think he has to worry about carbon anything in his price range. But I would put some thought into whether you want front shocks or not. My spare bike (the one I rode regularly since my latest purchase) has front shocks and it does make a difference here on the 'North Coast' in dealing with potholes and other road issues. My new bike doesn't have them and it is a bit rougher of a ride. I hate (repeat hate) the spring system my wife's 'comfort bike' has built into the seat...... and I don't like the rear shock system used by a lot of mountain bikes which eliminates the seat stem. Another thing about my (newer) bike which I am not liking is the disc brakes. They are really grindy and noisy.
  25. That's not what I was saying. I was simply responding to the poppycock notion that these 'cops' could be out there dealing with such 'serious safety issues' if they weren't issuing this citation. This is what this unit does. Raiding businesses without a liquor license is just one function...... one in which I'm sure many on here would be cheering if it happened at a different kind of venue. It also deals with a lot of other serious concerns, such as underage sales to minors, illegal gambling, etc. and does so out of the state budget which 'saves the (local) money (and resources) for serious safety issues ie robber[ies] etc."
