  1. There is also a sizeable number of Butanese moving into Lakewood. They are mostly concentrated in apartment buildings in East Clifton and Cove Avenue. Catholic Charities has done a lot of work with relocating them.
  2. They have a sizeable population in Lakewood. Check out any of the coffee shops on a Friday or Saturday evening and you'll see the men hanging out outside and smoking.
  3. Already love a Detroit posting!
  4. Not new words needed out of me but great job! I was wondering which neighborhood is photo 33 in? The architecture there is really unique. That's something I love about Cincinnati you always find something new and interesting in the city no matter how many times you visit.
  5. Ohh I know this one! Severance Hall
  6. What does this mean for Cleveland? Does it mean that Lubrizol will grow?
  7. I figured it was on the east side. The architecture being Georgian suggests to me that is near Shaker Square.
  8. Is #36 one of the schools slated for demolition on Sterns Blvd adjacent to the Arts High School.
  9. He's actually a pretty talanted rapper.

Montreal I spent a day in Montreal walking all over the city. I pretty much walked all over the city with for 10 hours straight with few breaks. I had an amazing tour guide who was someone living in the center of Montreal. She gave me an incredible tour of the city. Here we go.....
  12. #33 is off of East Blvd and I believe it is just South of Superior Avenue.
  13. That is exactly what I'm doing at work right now!
  14. Why not build a transit hub on the surface parking lot on the West side of Public Square? It would be really nice to make it a part of a larger redevelopment plan for the site and turn it into a TOD development. There is already one in Dayton and even in Cleveland near Cleveland State.
  15. Defintively agreed that the area North of Lakeshore is middle class and maybe even upper middle class. My impression just from the size of the houses is that is was middle class 10-15 years ago. The houses are similar in size to Lakewood and Glennville. But we would really need to here from someone who lived there to really know. BTW I've heard that there is a movie coming out in a year about Danny Greene and the Irish Mofia in Collingwood in the 70s. I hope they film it in the neighborhood.
  16. My intentions was not to make a shot at African Americans but to say that the neighborhood has changed from mainly a middle class Irish neighborhood to a lower middle class African American Neighborhood. This neighborhood used to be one of the most desireable neighborhoods in the city similar to West Park and Old Brooklyn but within the last 10-15 years crime has increased, abandonment has increased and the income has dropped. What other improvements have you seen other than the elementary school?
  17. In response to Columbustie's comment. From what I have seen North Collinwood is not improving. Yes there is some well along the lake but the neighborhood has seen so much abandonment recently especially along Lakeshore blvd. The neighborhood is seeing an influex of lower-middle class African Americans and I think it is becoming more and more lower income residents. The only area of Collinwood that has seen any reinvestment in the past 10 years is Waterloo.
  18. Good to see the Old West End homes are still in good shape. The architecture in the Toledo Zoo is just great!
  19. I would say there has been other neighborhoods which has seen redevelopment in Cleveland other than University Circle. Detroit Shoreway is one which has seen new housing and new commericial open up. And the news with the neighborhood's redevelopment keeps on looking brighter. Asia Town has seen some redevelopment with Warehouse conversions and the opening of a new market. Another neighborhood which people on urban Ohio forget is the area around W 117 and Lorain. This area is becoming a strong Arabic neighborhood and many Arabic restaurant's, bakeries, Hookah shops have opend up in the last 5 years. There still is a lot of work to be done in this neighborhood. While not a whole lot has happened in Ohio City the past 5 years there is lots of redevelopment on the horizen. A new Micro-brewarying is opening soon, the large bank building is being redeveloped and there are plans for redevelopment on W 25th south of Lorain.
  20. While I like the scope and proposel of the Jacob's Aquarium I would much rather have in near the Great Lakes Science Center or in the new East Bank Development. I feel that we need to concentrate the destinations and amenities near the lake front rather than spreading ourselves too thin.
  21. The Gateway Arch isn't a draw? The Gateway arch is at least half a mile from the park...
  22. Going back to the comment about how Millenium park Succeeded because it was in close proximity to Michigan avenue and other activity. City Park in St. Louis still seems to have a large draw enough though it does not have a draw like Michigan Ave. The reason I think it succeeds is the amenities it has. When I visited I saw many families there who probably did not even live in the city.
  23. So Far I'm not that excited about the design on the Wall. I feel there needs to be some more interactive elements to the design. Right now I see a central green space, a stage and tree lined paths on the edges but nothing never as exciting as the exihibits in City Park St. Louis or Millenium Park. I think there needs to be something more exciting to draw people there.

I discovered another really cool historic district between east 93-97th street on Newton Aveune. There are about 20 intact houses built in more of a cottage style. The detail work on the home is pretty nice. Hopefully I can grap some pictures when I come up to Cleveland.
  25. Are there a lot of hungarians in Denver?
