Now here's something new!! Thanks for posting.
  3. Finally! We have know that Cleveland needed an immigration center for a long time. My only concern is if they only bring in high skilled immigrants they will probably not move to the city of Cleveland. Look at all the Indians. The typically move to places like Mayfield Heights. You also need immigrants with lower incomes to full the housing stock in less desireable neighborhoods
  4. Its nice to see this area covered. It too often gets forgotten on Urban Ohio.

The downtown looks at lot like downtown Youngstown. Also you know its really ironic that 50s buildings are starting to torn down since they tour down historic buildings to built them.

This is a lot bigger than I thought it was with the skywalk and everything. But where are all the cows and chickens?
  8. I am born and raised in Cleveland my whole and I hardly know of thing about Akron. Even after all these cities trips I have done with Ink throughout Ohio I almost never got to Akron. I only started learning about Akron last year. I think Clevelanders such don't pay much attention to Akron and almost everything you would want to check out like neighborhoods, museums, restaurants; Cleveland already has.
  9. Yes it is. I believe it is right next to Gordan Park.
  10. Do you know roughly how much homes sell for in German Village?
  11. This is very true. The inferiority complex is strong here in Cleveland and also this misplaced belief that there is nothing to do here. This from my experience can't be further from the truth after having a friend visit from Spain for two weeks and not having time to do everything. The best group which seems to be educating people about what there is in Cleveland to young people is the Summer on the Cuyahoga internship. It is actually a group of college grads from Ivy league schools who work in Cleveland but the program also does a bucnh of after work activities around the area. I have talked to a number of people in the program and they say that they were very surprised in how much there really is to do in Cleveland.
  12. So the Big Italy neighorhood was around the Interbelt area? Was this in fact Cleveland's largest Italian neighborhood? It just don't hear much about it...
  13. This is such a wonderful idea! Why haven't I heard of this earlier!
  14. There is also some wealth is West Park near Rocky River drive. In Glenvile it is reserved to East BLVD and Wade Park. There is a similar pocket of wealth to West Park in Old Broklyn in the South Hills Area.
  15. It is so amazing how different this area looks today. All those buildings are basically gone either wiped out by decline or the Cleveland Clinic.
  16. You got it! I was not there during the weekend but on a special guide trip by one of the staff from Forest City.
  17. That area behind the riverview towers in Ohio city wil become an urban farm.
  18. When are you coming? I will be in Cleveland until a week after labor day with vacation the last week of July and the third week of August... Then I'm heading the C-Bus for grad school.
  19. So I had the priviledge a number of weeks ago to visit the new garden on top of the 18th floor and get up to the observation deck. It was through the Cleveland Foundation Internship Program I am a part of this summer. Enjoy! Here is the roof top garden: Here's a new perspective! Now from the observation deck: Here are some extra photos I have lying around... YEs there wereAMish people in Cleveland! I couldn't resist posting these!
  20. Great! This is very exciting to learn so much about New Jersey's urban cities and neighborhoods. They really get overshowed by the other big east coast cities.
  21. I personally think there are some lovely old houses north of UC around Wade Park and East Blvd. It would be a shame to lose such a historic neighborhood.
  22. Wow some many housing projects are coming together at the same time at UC. I think the neighborhood is about to boom with housing. I'm so happy to finally see this!
  23. Is it going to break ground this summer?
