Mill Creek Expressway circa 1943
I am not sure if it was ever constructed as SR 1. I was using existing plans for another project, and I think this is the timeline: 1943: SH 987 Project A-1 Units 2&3 Access Roads Wright Aeronautical Corporation Plant, Titles as "Miami and Erie Canal Access Road" 2-lanes of 4-lane ultimate from Galbraith Road to Just South of Cooper Road, 4 lanes to Shepard Lane. Off ramp (turn out) to Anthony Wayne constructed for SB traffic, On/off ramps for both Cooper (SB) and Patterson (NB). Grade intersections at Galbraith and Shepard. Between 1943 and 1947. Wright Highway Extended to a grade intersection with what is now Glendale Milford Road 1947: From Paddock to Galbraith 4-lane divided with provisions for future 3rd lane constructed, other set of lanes are added to the original construction from Galbraith to just south of Cooper. Interchanges constructed at Paddock Road and Galbraith Road. After 1947: South of Paddock, Mill creek Expressway constructed as "SR-4W" from where I-74 is now to Paddock Road, some as 3 lanes each way. 1964: HAM-75-9.30 Construction of NB "split" Original 4 lane Wright Highway converted to 3 lanes SB only, Anthony Wayne Turnout (SB) and Ramps to Patterson (NB) closed. NB lanes constructed on mostly bridges to the east. 3rd lane added between Galbraith and Paddock. Another project at the same time constructed the Interstate and access roads to the north of the "split" Presumably the 3rd lane was added in 1964 south to where the original 3 lanes stopped View south at Cooper Ramps, note in the background the 2 lane section of the Wright Highway

Greater Cincinnati Metro (SORTA) and TANK News & Discussion
I recall seeing something online about IndyGo canceling shuttles to the racetrack (for Brickyard 400) due to the same issue

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I've said this before, and I really think it's an important point that no one really talks about. Portland's demographics are very different than Cincinnati's. It's generally a richer, whiter, and safer city than Cincy, so expecting results similar to Portland is disingenuous, IMO. isn't the point of the streetcar to attract 'richer' residents? So, is Portland's per capita income is greater than Cincy's b/c of tranist infrastructure?

Cincinnati-Dayton Megalopolis
inre the extra wide medians, does anyone know if any of the various rail plans are considering its use?

Cincinnati-Dayton Megalopolis
It's also obvious to see that there were local/express lanes planned near Cincinnati and Dayton, evidenced by the wider-than-usual medians and bridge designs. I can confirm that the original construction of I-75 (As US 25 relocated BTW) included provisions for the express lanes (dual-dual). The typical sections I have seen in the original plans are 3+2*+2*+3 (* labeled as Future). There was ample offset between the 3 lanes constructed and the future express lanes. The full build out would have looked exactly like I-271 near Cleveland. The provisions for express lanes were constructed between Glendale Milford Road and Tylersville Roads, and then between SR 73 and Moraine.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Very true. You also pay the gas tax if you mow your lawn, ride an ATV or snowmobile, run your Weedwhacker, use a snowblower, power your generator, etc. All of that money (about $44 million just in state fuel taxes per year and more than $1 billion in federal fuel taxes) goes to pay for highways. Source is the USDOT Bureau of Transportation Statistics. However the OP stated they live in Downtown Cincy, so they probably do not use any of the above items---Maybe the snowmobile ;-) True that the gas tax trickles down everywhere, but that argument can be made for all taxes. IMHO the vast majority of the gas tax is paid at the pump by the end user 3% of gasoline usage is non highway (2007) http://www.bts.gov/publications/national_transportation_statistics/html/table_04_07.html

to be fair, if you don't own a car, you are not paying Gas Tax, which is the major source of road construction funds. Also, in Ham Co, there is a $5 plate reg fee that goes to road repairs

Cincinnati from the International Space Station - JUST RELEASED
IMO The google maps image and the NASA image are about the same vintage...and if the OH side and KY side are the same flight, then the google maps image is older, as the Newport Pavilion has not even started Nasa releases images for PR purposes...and I don't think this image was released by NASA to create buzz for the Space Station flyover of Cincy...WLWT probably dug it up from the NASA image archives.

Need a vector street map of Greater Cincinnati
ODOT Has their county maps, in MicroStation DGN format here (sorted by district) http://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/ProdMgt/Production/CADD/Pages/CountyMaps.aspx They do have all the city streets/county roads and TWP roads shown and labeled - I attached a PDF sample. (If you want I can convert one to DWG for you and email it to you) and here is a statewide GIS download page from ODOT: http://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/Planning/TechServ/Prod_Services/ESRIDWNLOADS/Pages/default.aspx (I don't think it includes county and city roads); this info can be useful in creating statewide maps

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
The entire Conceptual Alternatives Study (CAS) is online http://www.brentspencebridgecorridor.com/studydocs/ConceptualAlternativesStudy.html And in here: http://www.brentspencebridgecorridor.com/Documents/Conceptual%20Alternatives%20Study%20April%202009/Brent%20Spence%20Bridge%20Conceptual%20Alternative%20Study%20April%202009.pdf 7.7.1 Recommended Feasible Alternatives The comparative analysis led to the recommendation of carrying forward two feasible alternatives. The two feasible alternatives consist of Alternative E and a combination of Alternatives C and D. Based on the analyses completed and feedback as part of community input, it is also recommended that certain design elements (as listed above) of Alternative G be incorporated into the two feasible alternatives in Step 6 of the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Project Development Process. Additionally, the two feasible alternatives will be designed to provide three lanes in each direction on I-75.

...I think kids have it too easy today because we now try to isolate them from failure (All sports I played, we actually kept score -- thats how I knew we sucked --- and I didn't play much, if it all since I really sucked)

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
A lot of those cities don't have large highway systems cutting through their core. Typically, the highway ends far and away from the cores. Tokyo, for one, has an extensive, elevated highway system thru its large urban core, I think other large Japanese cities and Singapore are similar.
