Would VLOOKUP Do what you want? That function returns another value from an array that matches the row corresponding to an index value (See link for screen shots and examples) --------------------------------------------------------- http://www.techonthenet.com/excel/formulas/vlookup.php
  2. I always thought that a better bang for the Govt's buck (If they did want to help the little guy); is to provide 'free' classes on personal finance for anyone who wants them
  3. http://www.asce.org/pressroom/news/display_press.cfm?uid=4110 GAS TAX HOLIDAY" NO VACATION FOR ECONOMY, CONSUMERS OR THE ENVIRONMENT Media Contact(s): Joan Buhrman (703) 295-6406 [email protected] April 15, 2008 “Gas Tax Holiday” No Vacation for Economy, Consumers or the Environment Washington, D.C.—Sen. John McCain’s proposed “gas tax holiday” would only weaken the U.S. economy by placing an even greater strain on the nation’s already overburdened transportation infrastructure the American Society of Civil Engineers said today. The three month moratorium on the gas tax could cost the nation’s surface transportation infrastructure as much as $8.5 billion, and delaying these much needed transportation projects would also have a significant ‘trickle down’ cost to the American people, while providing them no real benefit.
  4. My guess is they are old foundations for the parking garages, ramps and the actual Cinergy Field that were never removed: http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=39.09691,-84.50998&z=17&t=O&marker0=40.35149%2C-74.90933%2Cgoat%20hill switch between "satellite" - a Current air photo and "DOQ" , several years' old photo, to see how the old stadium overlaps the current 'hole'

  6. WE'RE #66!!, WE'RE 66!! WE'RE 66!!
  7. How so?, I saw nothing really different about the WC IKEA site than any other big box. Maybe they make you pay 5c for bag; but they share in the same environmental damage that comes with having things produced in China. "and they are a big box out of necessity" I'm cornfused on that --- if they developed their company in Europe, aren't fewer big boxes over there? Home Depot and Lowes have a lot on stock in store too. I'm sure at IKEA a lot of the smaller stuff in the Marketplace is delivered by the same "just in time" methods as the other big boxes. Don't get me wrong, I like the place and will buy some stuff there --- but I think a few on here give IKEA a "free pass" as compared to other stores due to 2 reasons: 1) It's from Europe..and 2) The stuff looks cool
  8. Confirmed....but since its IKEA and not Wal*Mart, y'all look the other way

Those steps used to go up to houses that are no longer there. The steps were built into the wall and the wall is needed to hold the hillside up (many landslides in that area). The roadway was not as busy in the time that those steps were built. Probably built in 1938 as part of the New Deal Program when Columbia Parkway was constructed. I think the city is about to go and close all those steps off...it involves constructing a wall in line with the existing wall and backfilling the old steps to grade.
  11. Combined Sewer...overflow---all the streets in downtown Cincy drain to 3rd street, as that's the natural slope. There must have been construction of a new intercepting sewer when the "3rd Street Distributor" was constructed (Old FWW) I think the FWW 2000 replaced that sewer with a much larger one to store the excess rainfall in the combined sewer but can't recall. it seems the logical place for it though. As far as utilities on 3rd...there are probably numerous ones that run along 3rd...I betcha a good portion of the power grid feeds UG from 3rd street, thats seemingly the natural route of the power lines from the substation down by Longworth Hall. Did you know that Cinergy...ehh Duke...installed a chilled water utility in downtown to supply buildings with chilled water for air conditioning http://www.secinfo.com/dREyb.94m.c.htm
  12. Also, in regards to the 3rd St vs. 2nd St that jmecklenborg brings up... The new 2nd Street was basically built on a new alignment; thus no utilities to contend with..3rd's been there since day 1...so one can imangine how many utilities are under there!
  13. IIRC There is a major interceptor sewer under 3rd Street that would have precluded that I wonder if they didn't want to mix at grade light rail with the ends of 2nd St....they are basically off and on ramps Whats the rationale of using at grade light rail in this location rather than the below grade RTS?

  15. I see there are critics for planning ahead as well as not planning ahead...darned if you do darned if you don't
  16. My guess is that the 2 lane section was very short. In the above pic, the lanes drop and add from the 'route 8' exit and entrances...and in the following pic, looks like they add drop to the south for the 5th Sy (Covington Exit)
  17. I would submit your statement there is a highly romantic version of the past. FWIW OTR started off as an enclave of wealthly Germans. only wealthy whites move out?
  18. ODOT has a very strong bridge inspection program, so yes, I think I trust them in this case Probably, but its Knetucky's bridge to inspect.
  19. given the substatial increase in the amount of freight carried by trucks since the interstate system was built, the impact of increased car weight and car traffic is minimal
  20. I know we have a lot of urban planning-mapping-Geopgraphy-Engineering students and/or professionals and/or 'geeks'; so here's a PSA for an on-going program to collect statewide imagery in the form of aerials and DEM's generated from LiDAR; which will be compatible with GIS and CADD. The northern counties are done and available for download, southern counties will be delivered by sometime next spring. There is a significant area of older housing in "downtown" Sharonville, you would be in walking distance to the Library and pool, and the Blue Goose, which is a neat "non chain" pub. And "jogging distance" to Sharon Woods. http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=qjbqvw7yz7t3&style=o&lvl=1&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=8008749&encType=1
  24. There seems to be contingents of fans of certain teams that think wherever they go they should get to see their games no matter what. Steelers Fans come to mind as well as tOSU. I while ago (4-5 years) I was with a group at Mulligans in Hyde Park for an late afternoon of Sat College Football...OSU was playing someone, forget who, good game, but it was over...most, if not all, of the large TeeVees that had been on the OSU game were then turned over to the marquee game of the nite; of course there were other TeeVees around showing various other games. The OSU Game was on a channel that customarily would show a coaches show after the game -- a group of jackasses then complained loudly when the channel was changed b/c they wanted to watch the Coach's Post Game Show. Watch the game in your living room if you want to watch the coaches show!
