  1. In theory, maybe.. Its morseso from the fact that some farmers would rather sell off than pay rising property taxes they can't afford (taxed on best use/value). I'm sure there are programs out there that help farmers cope w/ rising taxes?
  2. We went the week prior, hardly any tulips were in Bloom, what a difference a week makes! Ahh Spring On a sad note, I was one of the last few thousand to see Colossus alive, a very large Silverback lowland Gorilla (was largest in captivity?) He died after some routine checkups last Tuesday (4/11/06) {He was "frisky" the day we went <nudge><nudge>}
  3. Kenwood-Symmes-Montgomery are priced very affordably (insert sarcasm smiley here)
  4. Its simple, prosecute the companies that <knowingly> hire illegals. {Thats the company that pay the folks NOT the company that hired it}
  5. think human wastes
  6. http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=39.113514~-84.546307&style=o&lvl=1&scene=1942474 (Peeee Yew!!) To clarify, I wanted this post to be limited to the "Birds Eye" images on the site...when in aerial or map view, a yellow box is supposed to pop up on the left saying there is a birds eye image is available---although I found that most of Cincy is covered by Bird's eye images, the yellow box doesn't come up, so you have to shuffle NSW & E whilst in the bird's eye image mode. see http://local.live.com/Help/BirdsEye.html
  7. Nope...quite a few thru lanes though
  8. trouble is, scale and character are subjective ;-) ^property rights end at the property line.. any both ways too...property rights pertaining to such noxious things as dog kenneling etc do not end at the property lines (nuisances and such) -- yes its a slippery slope
  9. Not really, as long as they comply with the existing zoning and community laws, then by definition the new house is not a nuisance.....IMHO it just revolves around someone saying the "house is too big for my taste"..your property rights cannot trump another's property rights. When you make your community desirable -- you will have the unintended consequence of folks actually wanting to move there ;-) what hasn't been mentioned yet is that the teardown trend is causing densification, witness the 2-4 house "subdivisions" going into old 1 acre or so lots with the ranch house, esp. in Blue Ash and Montgomery in Cincy
  10. False! You still own your house. The property disclosure laws are such that the buyer is supposed to have full disclosures of assessments, deed restrictions etc on the parcel, and HOA fees and rules; so if you don't like the rules of the particular HOA then you shouldn't buy that house. I didn't want that, so the HOA in my neighborhood we selected has no "teeth" and is more of a social club anyway, they do maintain some small entrance landsaping though. The houses were built in the 1985 to 1995 range
  11. Jumping in late, but yes this is the case. ODOT has a very strict lane closure policy for Interstates; I gather I-74 is one where the lanes can't be closed, so extra shoulder width is being used to accomodate the shift in traffic during construction - in this case the extra shoulder width is required for the permanent arrangement (the 10-12'), the temp. lanes will not have a shoulder though. Expect more crossover type construction, where all lanes are placed on one roadway while the other side is totally redone, in Ohio in the near future.

  17. "A group headed by former WKRC-TV newsman Nick Clooney floated a proposal in 1974 to turn the tubes into a giant subterranean shopping district." Plummet Mall? (Anybody remember that, or am I just too old?)
  18. I would like to see more coverage of tOSU --- for example, Sunday (yesterday) the game previews had 1 story for tOSU and 2 stories plus a UK "notebook" for Kentucky - I would like to think there are more fans of tOSU in the Enqurier's market area, since there is more population in Ohio in the metro. Then again UK is the only sport for the most of Kentucky. Maybe there is more UofL coverage since they have been in UC's league for a few years
  19. They cover too much UK sports too
