Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Have you been down town recently? North of the Stadium is FOrt Washington Way and what used to be parking lots is currently closed for Banks Phase II. To the East those lots are closed and currently being converted to CRP. At the South, Mehring Way and a small sliver of a lot. West, the practice fields. Where's this "Sea of Parking Lots" you speak of? As for highway and parking infrastructure around Kings Island for a Football Stadium, I use that exit on an almost daily basis. It's a mess when the ATP is in town or when the park has a busy day. Build the Streetcar, people coming to and from games would use it. I agree. I used to golf all the time at the Grizzly, and during any events (ATP, PGA, etc), it was a disaster to get in and out of. It's not even close to the highways.

What's up with the painting on the north facing apartment building wall? Just a way to make the concrete wall a little prettier?

Ha. That I agree with.

without getting too far off topic, I'm not sure I understand this. Bankrupt isn't about not being able to generate revenue, it's about not being able to pay back loans. Companies that go bankrupt don't have zero revenue but their revenue isn't sufficient to service the loans.

personally I think they should have just waited until the surrounding areas are completed. it's still a bit of a contruction mess down and around there.

Are they actually building town homes there or are they just making them to "look" like town homes? Has construction started on those?

and apparently she has the bladder of someone Tom's age. isn't she the one that has missed multiple sessions or votes because of bathroom breaks? it's incredible what politics can do to a person. It's also amazing what pregnancy and childbirth will do to one's bladder. they shouldn't make you miss key votes. During my wife's multiple pregnancies along with co-workers of mine, they never missed key events because they had to pee.

I remember when she presented for an urban lobbying class before she was well known or on council and she was completely coherent, polite, articulate, etc...now she just seems like she has lost her marbles.

i know someone who was interviewed by Fox19 after the streetcar meetings. This person didn't attend the meeting, but Fox19 came up to when he was walking to his car. They asked him he supported the streetcar to which he replied "no". Fox19 then said they wanted to interview him because they wanted to interview a streetcar opponent for their segment. It was on at 6:00 last night. Anyone happen to catch it? I wonder if they even bothered to interview anyone that supports the streetcar.

I think it has something to do with the forum issues.

The order of the letters they put up is pretty unfortunate. Or fortunate, depending on your sense of humor. i was joking. also joking about men rushing to the Banks to buy up the aparments, cuz you know, they thought it said CU....NT @ the Banks.

why is that unfortunate? i just heard they are now completely sold out of apartments..apparently 1,000 men came running all at once to get an apartment but they had to turn some away.

Thanks. I believe that was the one I read. Was that the only one, or were there other non-independent studies performed?
-
Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Hey, can anyone point me in the direction to find the independent studies that have been performed on the streetcar? I have read at least one but can't remember if any others have been performed? This will greatly help a debate I'm having with some people that base their info on what they hear on WLW. Thanks!

i understand him now that he clarified it, but if she works downtown, like me, she becomes relevant (for the record i used to live in the city limits until recently). also, if it uses state funding that adds to her relevancy. but in any event, the Enquirer does suck and interviewing someone from Mariemont wouldn't be my first choice. they also probably interviewed a dozen people until they found a person who would support their case.

what does wealthiest and whites have to do with it? i'm from Mariemont. i'm not wealthy. and i do support the streetcar, 100%.

I'm a big streetcar fan and supporter. I love the light rail and the idea of getting around in mass transit. But I also like the convenience of a car and can't ever see myself not relying a car. And I don't see anything wrong with that. Isn't a big argument from streetcar supporters that people need options? Well the car is an option. I'd love to have all those options. I'd like to take the streetcar or LRT to work, take it around downtown, etc. But when I want to get groceries or get my kids to practice, I want to take the car. I don't see what's wrong with that and I that's what City Blights is getting at (maybe I'm way off). Urban sprawl and over-reliance has made the car look bad but in reality it's a great invention when used right.

Just curious, what would be the point of having a stop on the bridge? No matter what when they get off they'd have to cross either 2nd st. or 3rd. st to get to where they are going. If anything I would think you'd put one on the north side of 3rd st. since there is already one planned by GABP and that would cover everyone going that direction. I don't know nearly as much about this as you so that's why I was wondering.

I agree. I'm still baffled by how reverse discrimination is so accepted in our society. And let's be honest, Smitherman doesn't care about other minorities. He cares about one minority, and one minority only.

Great point. If he wins, he might be there for a long time (is council term-limited?) Cincinnatians for Progress has its work cut out for it. Council is term-limited. (So is the mayor.) I think it's more a problem if he runs for mayor. If he can command much of the black vote, he may hand the mayorship to a Republican. I know you like Republicans, but they don't like transit, cycling, complete streets, etc. that's weird, I'm republican and like all those things you mentioned.

I like the full breakfast menu. And by the little sketch it looks like there will be outdoor seating. So that answers my request of having a outdoor breakfast place...now hopefully the breakfast is good :)
