  1. I believe it was originally supposed to be a Nordstrom's and then the deal fell through. While I'd rather just a park or some office buildings there (maybe a couple decent restaurants), I would have loved a Nordstrom's over a Walmart.
  2. It's not really being negative, b/c I'm positive about this city in general, but all the negativity in this city (in the years past) wears on you and you want to go somewhere positive. That being said, I think this city has made great strides in just the past few years and has the potential to be one of the best cities in America. I think that is what gets on my nerve. So much wasted potential.
  3. If the streetcar fails, I may try to move out of the city b/c I will no longer be able to stand the constant negativity and refusal of change that this city has demonstrated in the past. For whatever reason, I feel that about 95% of Cincinnatians that were born and raised here have no good things to say about this city. It's mind boggling.
  4. You'd be surprised. I just read on a UC sports forum that the Banks and the Streetcar are the biggest boondoggles he's ever witnessed. He also went on to say that OTR is for poor people only b/c it is close to goverment services.
  5. The Wal-Mart sign is indeed still up. There is a new sign promoting a bigger office building, but the original Wal-Mart sign is still there.
  6. Please, please, please let there be no Wal-Mart. I live right next to that site and I HATE Wal-Mart. I'll look today to see if all the signage is gone. It was still up a couple days ago. There was an article a few weeks back that said Wal-Mart was pushing back their expected opening to 2009. Edit: Here is the article I was referring to: http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20080501/NEWS01/305010036/
  7. ^^ not to start an argument, but I still think the Reds stadium not going into Broadway Commons was a huge mistake. I, however, don't know the details of what went into the decision to put it on the river vs. BC. Edit: I guess I should add that I can't wait for the Banks, streetcar and the riverfront parks!!
  8. ^ There is also a school that is being built on the corner of Red Bank and Madison. I'm not sure if there are cranes there or not.
  9. That is what I was referring to in my earlier post. Entice people by having it for free and showing them the advantages of the system and then they would be more willing to pay for it.
  10. Maybe there should be a separate thread just on pricing/fares ideas? On a different note, since this has been approved by council, if all funding is found in time, would that essentially solidify the streetcar, or would even more votes and other issues still exist? Thanks!
  11. Another idea is maybe to start out with very low pricing to entice people to use the system and generate high riderships (or maybe even a sponsored event where everyone rides free for a day/week/etc), then after everyone realizes the benefits, raise prices gradually. If prices start out too high, a lot of people may be swayed to avoid the streetcars altogether.
  12. Definitely agree with the previous two posters. Although I'm not sure of the best way to price everything, having some kind of keycard would be necessary for me to use it regularly. I don't carry cash/change and would hate to have to worry about having the right change on me at all times.
  13. C'mon now, not every conservative is against streetcars and light rail.
  14. I've never heard of KoSho. I'll have to look it up. Hopefully some more places will open, especially around the square (for the obvious reasons, and its an easier walk from work).
  15. I'm sure this has been answered somewhere in the 133 pages, but has it been explained how the $2-$3 million annually (this was the number I last heard) to operate the street car will be funded?
  16. Does anyone know of any sushi places downtown? I can only think of Benihana's and they don't offer much. I think downtown would be a great place for sushi restaurants. There are so many in the surrounding neighborhoods you would think there'd be more downtown.
  17. Sorry if I've missed this, but will the connector be used prior to the uptown circulator, or will it just be unused tracks waiting to connect to something?
  18. Do you have any idea if they offer food specials during happy hour?
  19. I don't post here often, but thought I'd point out that I live in Madisonville and SUPPORT the streetcar. Nearly everyone I know supports it as well.
  20. Just curious cuz I don't know how it works, but does 3CDC offer a decent price, or does the property sell for whatever market value is (rather than holding out and making them offer a higher price)?
  21. Man, I hate city bbq. A dily deli, Coffee Emporium, or such would be a nice addition. Something local...no more chains.
  22. ^^ I like Rock Bottom's food, but I hate Sully's and Universal Grill is just okay.
  23. ^ Just curious, what was the damage on the bill? It seems like a nice place but also seems pretty expensive. I love all the nice restaurants going in downtown, just wish there were some more casual places to compliment all the higher end restaurants. ps - Palomino's, which I love, has a great happy hour.
  24. I'm pretty sure there are already at least two Humana "towers" on the site.
  25. Are there any pricing plans available for the Edge? I don't see any on their website.
