Whatever happened with Dinsmore & Shohl looking for new office space? Did they ever decide on anything?

I'm going to miss the $100 season tickets though.

I would think they just have to have proper clearance/authority.

They haven't sucked since the first years Mick took over.

Some of it also depends on the disparity in quality. If the top league teams were head and shoulders above the lower leagues than it wouldn't be good. A team would get relegated and then crush all the bottom teams. I would hope there isn't that much of a talent disparity between the different leagues. Though I highly doubt it would ever happen having a relegation system would be great. You also have to keep in mind that the major, big money teams would likely never get relegated just as you don't see a Man U or Chelsea ever getting relegated. It'd only be the smaller market teams and then they would likely (hopefully) go from losing many games to winning many games.

There are some really good heritage names in U.S. soccer, like NY Cosmos, Ft. Lauderdale Strikers, Seattle Sounders, Tampa Bay Rowdies etc. The problem with finding new American team names is all the good ones have been taken. That's how you end up with awful names like the "Dallas Burn" and the "Kansas City Wiz" I think "Sporting Kansas City" and "FC Dallas" are drastic improvements. I love how non-American teams don't have to use all the cheesy names that American sports do. FC, or SC, is simple. Generally I'd prefer SC over FC over here since they it's called soccer, but it's simple it's the soccer club for that city. For the new team I'd prefer Cincinnati SC but it's still better than FC Cincinnati Blue Whales or whatever cheesy names that american teams have.

You are comparing it to the Reds in a sport where they have incredibly distinct leagues. Obviously if they went to relegation it wouldn't be so distinct. Not only that, it incentivizes teams to spend money to better their team unlike the crappy Reds and Bengals here who do very little. You also create an exiting atmosphere when teams are competing for promotion. Imagine the fan support for a second tier team when they are close to getting promoted.

That's a big assumption and a tough sell. I'm not sure how profitable MLS teams currently are but if they make good money they likely won't wan to risk it for an unknown.

Relegation is definitely needed but I have to imagine it will be very difficult to get MLS owners to agree to it. Why would they agree to something that would hurt their revenue if they happened to be relegated. edit: sorry, didn't see Ryan's post which basically said the same thing.

Let's assume for the moment that a similar percentage of people who want to kick random people's ass appear evenly in every profession ranging from florist to street entertainer. The difference between any occupation out there and someone in law enforcement is that they have a badge and they have weapons up to and including firearms. There's a limit to what a bad florist or a bad mime can do to you. But a bad cop can literally send your life into a tailspin because you don't answer his hard-charging flip-out with a facial expression that makes him feel good about himself for a few seconds. You don't need a badge and a weapon to do something like this. It happens more often than not by people who don't risk their lives to help the community. Do you need to see the statistics of murders? Where do you think cops fall in that stat? Looks to me like its others who have a inferior complex. You were harassed by the police because you most likely deserved it.

I thought there was a mandate that USL had to have a soccer specific stadium by 2020? I don't see how they get Nippert to be wide enough, nor do I understand why they chose Nippert. That picture looks cool, unfortunately there will only be 1,000 people in the seats (hopefully they get that many) and there will be painted lines across the field every 10 yards. Why not Gettler?

The problem is that *a lot* of police officers become police officers because of an inferiority complex and other emotional issues that have haunted them their entire lives. What do you have that supports yet another ridiculous claim?

Probably wouldn't have been feasible but I wish they could line the front (Joe Nuxhall Way) with bars/restaurants. I think it'd be cool to have more bars directly across from the stadium. From the looks of it that side will be just the entrance for the hotel and parking with the exception of the restaurant on the corner....Still, a hotel there will fill out that empty space nicely.

Then my apologies, I initially thought he was the driver. Looking back and noticing which way the car door is opened I should have realized it was the passenger.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
So at the very beginning of the video, the cop asks for the guys name and DOB? He says his name is Demetrius (I think). Is that the driver or the passenger? I assumed that was the driver and apologize if I was mistaken.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Yeah, write the ticket and let em go. Tensing opened the door without permission. He wanted to see if they had booze or drugs. He wanted the name of the passenger so he could run his name for outstanding warrants, no probable cause though. He asked for name and DOB yet the driver wouldn't give it. Maybe stuff happened before the video, but the driver refused to answer very simple questions which escalated the situation. They had the driver's license prior to the start of the video. They ran the plates, his name, and checked with the city for any violations. The cop supervisor said at the end of the video we are going to write up the violation and you can exercise whatever your rights are etc. So why wouldn't he give his DOB?

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Absolutely no one has said that someone deserves to die for a misdemeanor. Where on earth did you get that from? I also never said anything that Tensing did was right.

And what is wrong with getting the identity of the passenger? Did Tensing ask for ID and they wouldn't give it? Isn't that a requirement? I heard him ask for his name and birthday and the driver wouldn't give it. Because he had nothing to do with the infraction. If you were walking down the street and the police stopped and asked you for your id would you do it? Multiply that several times over the course of a few years. I've driven down the street and had police stop me for nothing more than just driving on a street. You know what I did? Answered the cops questions. You know what they did? Let me go. I realize that Tensing may have been sniffing around and I'm not saying that he is/was a great cop, but if you follow simple orders you'll get in a lot less trouble.

I admit to not being able to sit through all 17 minutes of the video, but what I don't understand it why they give the officer such a hard time? Sounds like Tensing pulled them over because their bumper was dragging on the road which might be questionable, but why not just answer the questions asked by Tensing. If they do then they would likely go on their merry way. Frankly I give him credit, he was a lot more patient than I would have been with them. Imagine if you had to deal with that crap every time you pulled someone over.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
It's amazing the differences between the Biz Courier and The Enquirer. Courier makes it sound like no big deal and The Enquirer makes it sound like the whole project will fail. Obviously I know who to believe but it pisses me off how crappy the Enquirer reporting is.

I think it's pretty obvious that Tensing had no business firing his weapon. At all. But why on earth don't people just obey police officers commands? He does that he is alive today. I keep reading about black people fearing for their lives and if they truly do then they should be listening to everything the office tells them to do. I mean to start your car while the officer is right there talking to you? I also highly doubt Tensing was looking to kill someone. Deters comments are mostly overboard. I also feel for how difficult and stressful it has to be to be a police officer in the inner city. That said, there still isn't any excuse for what happened. He needs to be charged, but there is a part of me that feels bad for any cops that make bad decisions in the heat of the moment. I should add that I feel terrible for Duboses family. Regardless of anything, he didn't deserve to get shot.

Average attendance figures across all NCAA sports (and professional sports) has been trending down for years. When you have increasing access to see games in the comfort of your own home, not as many diehards want to make the 30-60 minute commute to and from games, not to mention ticket and parking costs. I'd rather see a game in person, but the trend is what it is. Decreasing seats is the right call. Make the environment more intimate. If we are talking about basketball, this is not accurate. Add to that that we are in the most popular region for college basketball. College basketball attendance is trending down on an overall average attendance level.

Maybe if they could get a state of the art facility on campus, but moving UC's arena off campus would be a mistake. I don't see how they'd get an 17k+ arena on campus. Plus, UC struggles to get 10,000 to games with the exception of bigger name teams, so playing in a 17k seat arena will give it an empty feeling. Maybe bringing them downtown would help increase attendance make it more of a destination instead of more geared towards students. Helping improve the image of the program and attract bigger name recruits. They used to play downtown and IIRC attendance wasn't exactly stellar. Not saying it couldn't be now but IMO it should remain on campus. Actually UC's attendance down there was very good, until the program went into the tank and on probation. BTW I just looked up attendance..... Cats averaged about 10,000 this past season. Low major games don't draw well, mid/high majors and conference games 12-13K. And I think that's a good range for them. I'd like to keep closer to 13k but it isn't going to happen. But I don't see anyway they fill a 18k arena.
