  1. What am I missing? What page is the new design on? I'm trying to look through the document but the pictures I see look exactly the same to me.
  2. Most of their brands are regional. ie. Harris Teeter is only in the south, Ralphs is only out west, etc. Kroger operates both QFC and Fred Meyer in Seattle. There must be enough brand loyalty that they can justify keeping both brands around. Yet, they quickly eliminated the Thriftway brand here in Cincinnati when they bought up that chain. QFC and Fred Meyer are completely different types of stores.
  3. I think this building will look pretty good once finished. I like a mix of different types of architectures.
  4. It's just because you have so many tracks in one area there. That appears to be 2 straightaways, plus a turn from each track, maybe more that I can't see. Normally, you just have a single wire running parallel with the track, which looks fine and actually makes the system more usable because you can look for it if you get lost while exploring an unfamiliar area. The situation seen above is fairly rare. Makes sense. Thanks.
  5. Do the overhead wires look that bad in all areas or just above the so called turnaround? I'm a big supporter but don't know too much about those type of details, but those wires look terrible to me.
  6. Hope you're right.
  7. This would be a big loss to downtown.
  8. That parking lot definitely doesn't sit empty. There are quite a few monthly parkers in it. That area is just so segregated from the rest of the banks and downtown because of the highway. It doesn't feel connected at all.
  9. To me that seems like such an odd spot for town homes and I have no clue (I'm also not an architect) on how you fit them architecturally into the existing area. I just think that they will look odd in that area no matter how they are designed.
  10. A hotel would be nice (along with GE) to ensure more people are there on nights and weekends. GE would ensure people are there during the weekday, so it'd be a nice mix where people would be constantly at The Banks. The apartments help with this as well.
  11. I know this doesn't belong here but I'm in that area all the time and there is nobody using it. Of course this shouldn't be a surprise, why on earth would anyone use it? The funny part is the sidewalk they put in, like anyone is going to be walking in that area. What a waste.

  13. Are the apartments definitely going there? That'd be a good place for GE if they can't do next to the Current apartments. IMO the further north (of The Banks), the better.
  14. ^ Really?? That's awesome!!! j/k
  15. Playing devils advocate, it could also be a test run to see how they like working downtown, which could be good or bad. But they are expected to make an announcement in about 90 days according to the article. Definitely not enough time for a test run with feedback about employees' experiences. Good point.

  17. I wonder how he knows it's down to those two, or if he just accidentally left off Mason? I assume they would have to decide relatively quickly if they are going to break ground this summer.
  18. The more I read this it looks as if they aren't going to announce a location today, which I originally had thought. It looks as if they may announce the project but are still ways away from selecting an actual site...and other locations are still being considered.
  19. please, please, please choose The Banks.....and please, please, please don't choose Mason.
  20. Written by Joe King Great joke by UC! Some people even bought it. Yes, the outside will be made by reclamed toaster ovens. That's great.
  21. I can't imagine there is any way that Kroger would want to buy Safeway. More likely they will buy individual stores in areas that Kroger is looking to expand into or increase its presence. Similar to what they did with Thriftway, Winn-Dixie, and other struggling grocery chains.
  22. Kroger has been in the fuel business for a while. They also own Tom Thumb fuel stations and others.
  23. I don't listen to wlw unless a Reds or UC game is on. I wouldn't label myself upset either, however, it was a bad deal and one that the City should not have done. I would love to try Mohogany's but everything I have heard about it is not good. You keep treating this as a huge racial issue when that isn't the issue at all. The issue was it was a bad business deal from the start and when the plan was announced there were plenty of skeptics on here and it had nothing to do with race.
  24. ^ exactly. And if policies were geared towards white people in the 50's and 60's, I should pay for that now because I'm white? Or we make it better by reverse discrimination? Financial decisions, and pretty much all decisions (including enrollment) should not be based on the color of someones skin.
