  1. Thanks for the info. I didn't realize a hotel was supposed to go there. I think that space would be better suited for condos or more apartments and would think that with the Currents being on a wait list that some investor would jump at the opportunity to develop there.
  2. Could someone tell me what is planned for the space just north of the Lager house and directly east of the Current apts? Being so close to the stadium it'd be nice if this vacant spot was developed.
  3. So is that the last of the major obstacles? Obviously things will come up but as far as major obstacles that could potential cause a major delay.
  4. You are also arguing with a board synonymous with group think. Of those members, I'm willing to bet less than 1% live within the city....of course you are also arguing the the owner of the board so you are fighting an impossible battle.
  5. The meeting was supposed to be about the plans intended path through Mariemont and more specifically through Mariemont's South 80 which is 80 acres of land that is used as community gardens, a bike/hiking/nature trails, and now recently discovered artifacts....Mariemont is strongly opposed to any plan that runs through this area (or through Mariemont in general).
  6. ^ I'm not arguing anything in regards to the language of the ballot. Frankly I'm glad they did it because it caused them to fail. If it was something to the effect of should the streetcar be installed, I think it might have failed. But that should be a decision our elected leaders make, and they made the decision to go with the streetcar, which I agree with. I have nothing but disrespect for people like Finney, Smitherman, etc...My only point is that the voters did not specifically vote for the streetcar which is what many intentionally say on here. If you are going to criticize the Enquirer for misrepresenting information (which is justified), then you (not you directly) should not do the same. As for ordering the streetcars, I'm not sure why you are so defensive. I'm just curious to why they ordered them now? It could be because it saves them money to order now by getting a discount or that's how long it takes to get them on hand. I don't know, hence the question. If the reason is so that it ties the hands of any future elected leaders than that is a very poor decision. As to why you wouldn't want them sitting around in a garage, well that adds cost. You don't just want a huge piece of equipment sitting unused in a garage for two plus years do you?
  7. Ha, good one...The reason I preface my statements is that I've seen how some people get attacked on here if they say anything even remotely against the streetcar. I'm pretty sure you can look at my prior posts and see that I'm a big streetcar fan and I hope it gets here tomorrow....Of course I also thought my question was legitimate and you attacked me rather than try to answer it. Thanks to ryan for attempting to answer my question though I hope his answer isn't the reason. As for voting twice for the streetcar, they didn't vote twice for the streetcar. They voted twice against an amendment that would change the city charter. Granted, the second vote was directly tied to the streetcar unlike the first one but it still wasn't a vote for the streetcar. Again, I know others who did not feel it was right to change the charter even though they were 100% against the streetcar.
  8. I'm a big streetcar supporter but I do tend to question things. As such, can someone explain why the streetcars are being ordered 2+ years prior to the expected opening? Does it take that long to get them in? Also, I keep reading it on here but the voters did not specifically vote for the streetcar. They voted against the amendment. I know many people against the streetcar that also voted against the amendment.
  9. I wish I liked Moerlein better than Great Lakes (for obvious Cincy vs. Cleveland reasons) but I think Great Lakes beers are way better than Moerlein. There are very few if any Moerlein beers that I really like. And I think the others like Hudy, Little Kings, etc are horrible. But to each their own.
  10. ^ That's a great shot but an ugly picture with the casino there. Doesn't fit in to the surrounding area whatsoever. I love the picture of Pendleton with the exception of that one parking lot.
  11. i doubt they would care. a WF close to their headquarters doesn't present any significant threat. There is a bigg's (or is it Remke now?) right next door to their #1 store....Macy's has a Saks right next to their headquarters too. This happens everywhere. that would be a horrible decision in every way. Kroger hasn't invested because it currently isn't a good business decision, they shouldn't put a store up just because they have headquarters there. If you haven't noticed, they aren't a non-profit company and they aren't in the charitable business (excluding the OTR store which is there for charitable reasons). They have very smart people that work there that can tell you that a store in the CBD won't make money. That said, even though I'm not much of a WF shopper I think it'd be great if they put one downtown.

I have to say, this article describes how I feel about Dusty and makes a lot of the same points I made. I think he even left some out to condense the article. http://redlegnation.com/2012/10/14/time-to-move-on/

Because Dusty should be embarrassed by the way he managed this series. Yes, the players didn't come through. But if that argument holds water than let's just get rid of managers. It's a managers job to put the players in the best position to succeed. I've never been a huge Dusty fan as he has me scratching my head nearly every game but I figured he was doing something right by getting the Reds to the playoffs two out of three years. However, this series showed me all I need to know..... Pulling Bailey in game 3 when he was on a roll and hadn't pitched a lot of pitches...Not pitching Chapman the following inning in game 3 to face Posey...Not walking Arias to get to the pitcher and let him get the last out or forcing Boche to pull his best reliever in place of a PH...Letting Leake give up 5 runs before being pulled...Letting Arrendondo get shelled in game 4 even though it was obvious he didn't have his stuff...Not pitch hitting for Stubbs or having players bunt to get a run in in the 6th and 7th inning of todays game...But the far worst was letting Latos pitch to Posey. Absolutely no reason to let him pitch to Posey in that situation.....Those are off the top of my head in only one series. He managed the series like it was just a typical series in the regular season.

I'm not sure what Hyde Park, Fairfax, and others are doing about it but I know Mariemont isn't taking this lightly and are strongly opposed to it.
  15. ah, so that is why he was in Cincinnati this past week.
  16. so terribly sad.
  17. That's good news....Do you know what criteria they use to judge it?
  18. Probably makes sense. I was thrown off by it this morning as I was out of town last week. Had no idea it went down to one lane. I love the idea of a bike lane but one lane traffic there is going to make things very slow during the morning and evening commutes.
  19. I'd take the tree bark any day over the watered down piss that is Wiedemann's.
  20. I remember reading about them a long time ago but it's nice to see them operational. Any idea where you can get their beer? I couldn't find that info on their site.
  21. I bought some back in 2005 but haven't seen much since. It's probably closer to Burger than Hudy Delight if I remember correctly. I believe it's the name coming back only, not the specific recipe. Going to be a more premium beer. I think it is being contract brewed at Listermann's. Wiedemann's is absolutely one of the worst beers I have ever had. I have no idea why anyone would want to bring that back, especially as a premium beer since it is associated with being the cheapest beer there is...I'm surprised Listermann's is even agreeing to contract brew it.
  22. Man I would be so pumped if they get bike lanes on Riverside to DT. That would essentially connect DT to Lunken and ultimately the Little Miami trail. Lots of bikers are currently using Riverside but the traffic is so heavy during rush hour which makes it pretty dangerous...I'll have to pay attention as I drive Riverside each day.
  23. i think a place like Chi-nnati's would do great at the Banks. different from all the American fares, great pizza, good price, good beer list, and very kid friendly.
  24. the intersections of 2nd and walnut and 3rd and walnut have a close call on cars hitting pedestrians at least once a week during rush hour. everybody trying to drive out of there while talking on their cell phones or texting results in so many cars running red lights well after pedestrians begin crossing the street. eventually something really bad is going to happen at either one of those intersections.
  25. even to get from the one side of the riverfront park to the other you have to cross four lanes of traffic. typically traffic isn't bad but it is before and after Reds games....and the traffic coming off the suspension bridge into the Banks sucks as well. those cars come flying off from the bridge right into a pedestrian area. i'm sure there is a reason for it but i wish they didn't build the street that connects the suspension bridge to Walnut.
