Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
^^ Try it again rockandroller. You aren't the only one who said the service was poor (including myself) at Chedders before they merged it into Snickers. I have been there a few times since and the service has been fine. Basically got the impression it was on the backburner before, but now it is the center of attention. As far as Vulpster03's post.....Stone Mad is not open yet, but it looks like it is getting closer...when driving past I actually saw they had bar stools in there. Anyone else have an idea when it is going to open? Can't wait to check it out.

Down time 12/18/07
Just added another $25 to the cause. This site has been extremely helping my girlfriend and I select a new neighborhood (Detroit-Shoreway in Cleveland) and all that it has to offer. The site has also been quite enlightening in regard to a whole gambit of issues facing our urban centers. Thank you for providing this service to the public.

^ Yeah, GSAD is part of DS, kinda in the same way that the Market Square District is part of Ohio City.

Cleveland - next UrbanOhio forum meet will be....
Sounds good. I'll catch the trolly from my girlfriend's place-- it will be one of the last times I'll be able to do that before we move to Detroit-Shoreway. It will be interesting meeting some of the faces behind the fonts here.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
So I take it this will be replacing an existing Giant Eagle at Westtown? I am confused how this is "good news" for Ward 19? It is taking one store and moving it to a new location within the same ward. Sure, it might be larger, but the jobs "created" numbers are highly exagerated.

^ Anyone know what is going on with the historic tax credit? I know the first round of those were released not too long ago. I have also heard that it would be open within a year and that was with starting work in March 08-- I found that hard to believe and esp so if all the funding isn't in place now. Anyone hear anything about the streetscaping project? And the last bit from your article, when the heck is Stone Mad opening?

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
^^^ Unfortunately it appears they are swapping the words "sites" for "areas" and really not telling us anything new in the story. At least people are writing about it and keeping it in the foreground. The sooner a deal that works for all parties involved is announced the better.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
^ $65 does sound a bit low, but it is plausible for a stand alone townhome. The association fee for our townhome at Battery Park is $97/month. It would be much higher for the condos in the high rises though because the association has to cover repairs to the exterior of the structure and the common internal areas. For a townhome it would just cover landscaping, snow removal, and common amenities for the development. You own exterior of a seperated townhome, so you are responible for all repairs and upkeep, thus the lower fee.

Okay, I just called Latitude and asked if they had a website again (also asked about a month and a half ago) and they still do not have one. In fact, she strated to give me an e-mail address when I asked for the website. I asked her to let Kathy know that there were a lot of folks out here on the internet that wanted to learn more about her resturant and would certainly be a good business move. The number is 216-961-0000. If enough of us call and ask about a website, maybe they'll eventually listen? Anyway, I did manage to retrieve the hours: 8am-10pm M-Sat 8am-2pm Sunday Breakfast served till 11am everyday except Sunday which is till 2pm.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I was in there last week and it was a real mixed bag. The pita that came with our hummous was burnt and stale. We sent it back and the second batch was quite tasty. I ordered tawok sandwitch and it was very good, but my girlfriends chicken was undercooked. It was also DEAD in there-- there was only one waitress and she would disappear for long periods of time. Definently not the experience I remember from the old location though. It had only been open for a couple days prior, so perhaps your milage may vary after giving them time to break into the new location.

Cleveland: 4600 Euclid Avenue
^^ I think the majority of the 5th floor addition would be completed by the time the law firm would be occupying the 4th floor. Could you imagine how loud it would be adding another floor directly above yours? They are putting a new roof on our building right now and it is noisy as heck on our top floor right now. I couldn't imagine attorney's putting up with that.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
I did not get a chance to listen to the full broadcast yet since I was at work by 9, but I did hear blubs from the show on my way. Here is a link to a podcast from the show: http://www.wcpn.org/index.php/WCPN/soi/7899/.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
^ You mentioning the Erie buildings location and the current time of this post reminds me of something I meant to say the other day. Depending on where your unit is in the building, it could be difficult to get to sleep before 2AM. I am at my girlfriend's place (Hat Factory) and I can here the music from Spy Bar and Bar Fly like it was on inside the apartment. It doesn't bug me too much on the weekends, but it can be a bit annoying on Wednesday and Thursday nights. It is particularly bad when Spy Bar has props the back door open. I understand some noise comes with the territory, but they really could do a better job of controlling how much of it escapes from the clubs.

Cleveland: Tremont Place Lofts (Union Gospel Press)
I have lived in Tremont for seven years and I remember when I first saw this place thinking it would be sweet if it would be rehabbed. It has been great to see the work over the last year pick up pace. I do agree with others though that the name "Tremont Place" kinda sucks. To me it seems a bit too close to Tremont Point, which I think is a slightly different demographic than they are trying to target. While I think the name Gospel Press is cool, I can also see why they would want to dump the Gospel part. They still could have gone with something like Tremont Press, University Press, Jeffereson Press, or Lincoln Press. Keeping "Press" immediately conveys the historic nature of the building before you even see it.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
My girlfriend lives in a building that is adjacent to the Erie lofts and Howard Hannah has been showing the units since about midsummer I would have to say. They are doing some rooftop decks on the units-- I was actually startled a few times when I saw workers up there and was less than optimally clothed. :-o Speaking of other construction work I can see from her apartment, does anyone know exactly what they are doing to the rooftop at the corner of St. Clair and W. 6th? I have seen workmen crawling all over the rooftop for the better part of two months and then this Saturday a large crane appeared (almost ran into when turning onto 6th) and there is a demo dumpster along the building on St. Clair. It looks like they are setting up some sort of rooftop deck with entrances from multiple units. I'll try to take some photos from my vantage point and post when I get a chance.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
As w28th pointed out in the Random Cleveland thread, Google Maps has been updated for the city with newer and higher res photos. The previous shot of Battery park was just a leveled lot. Linked below is the new shot which looks like it was from June: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=41.486652,-81.736119&spn=0.002737,0.003771&t=k&z=18&om=1 As you can see, this photo shows how things are starting to come together with the landscaping and the structures. Since this image was taken, work has started on several homes on W. 76th (including mine!), all of the townhomes on Goodwalt are near completion, and there is a second set of the "Gateway Townhome" buildings. Hopefully by the next time this map is updated they will be into Phase 3 or later!

^ Great find! It looks like they updated the whole of the city and it is much higher resolution than before. There is now the correct house next to mine in Tremont (it was demolished two years ago and new home built). Also, Battery Park is not just an cleared field anymore. I'll have to stare at this for a while when I get home!

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Reddstone's website can be found here: http://www.thereddstone.com/ Unforuntately, it has not been refreshed since before they opened, so their full menu is not listed. Everything I have had there has been pretty tasty though including the Tuesday nickle wings! The last I heard on Stone Mad was late this month, but delays seem to be the order of things, so I think "soon" is the closest we can get unless someone else is more in the know.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
It is inbetween Herman and Father Caruso. Speaking of Herman....does anyone know why it stops and starts and changes alignment the way it does? The blocks on 73rd, 70th, and 69th are pretty long, so it seems like it would have made sense for the street to go through. I think I am just complaining because it makes the walk from Battery Park to Stone Mad longer!

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Hopefully the synergy of the new housing developments in the area will make those boarded up homes attractive for rehab with the tax abatement in play. The key is to just maintain the forward momentum which is easier said than done, but I have to say I like the chances of the area.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Sorry guys-- did not mean to post false information. It was actually my girlfriend who told me about that and as required by higher authorities (namely her), I believed her. :-D I checked with someone at Forest City yesterday and they confirmed it was indeed for the Tribe. So thanks for calling me out and I'll make sure to verify before I post going forward so I don't look like a dunce again.
