  1. when i was little (pre-driving age) i knew a lot more about the entire area than my friends, in part due to having divorced parents, one east side, one west (south). also, being into the "indie scene" helped, because i went to shows (once i started driving) at the euc, speak in tongues, grog, pat's, peabody's, odeon... that kind of thing forces you into the city. when the internet happened i ended up meeting a bunch of people my age from strongsville (wickliffe was my home base). hanging out with me forced them into knowing more about the east side.

i see what you are saying, and thought it was really weird the last two posts, after modifying, show how lakewood is blocking rocky river from touching cle it's on my metro graphic arts cleveland metro area wall map too. ** gis.cuyahogacounty.us shows the SW lakewood 'elephant trunk' the most clearly

  5. $3.50 is steep for a sample sized portion, i'm super into the grapefruit gelato tho
  6. i can't say i know what their business model is(was) but i went to the joseph-beth pittsburgh location (also closing) and it was in Southside Works, a crocker-esque area albeit within the street grid, actually in the city, just south of the monongahela river.
  7. the overwhelming majority of the CIA grads I know live in NYC now. they graduated in 2004-5 or thereabouts. give em a few more years? a lot of em are involved with the IFC show Food Party.

when i lived in toledo i would hear a lot of people say hwere for where (not the same as ware) (unmerged witch-which, another example) my friend and his family from bellevue don't merge these living in 419 was the only time (just occasionally, tho) i heard people actually say 'hwich.' but i have a feeling it wasn't mainly toledoans, just ppl from rural 419.

i'll probably end up doing surgical path, not sure of what organ system to focus on yet, fellowship is 2.5 years away. as residents we are required to complete 50 autopsies, most pathologists want nothing to do with it after getting their 50, 'cept for those forensics folks. one of my co-residents wants to do forensics, she went to med school in ft lauderdale. i'll ask if she spent any time at the coroner's office in miami.

also, ignatius was the original campus for john carroll university
  16. You realize that UH has a lot of orthodox jews, who send their kids to their own schools, not public, regardless of what district they reside in.
  17. one of my coworkers is trying to sell a house in rocky river, nice area
  18. i don't know if you have time or if you're interested but maybe you could do a radio show on wcsb 89.3. you could meet other on air programmers.
  19. sorry, i wanted to say LESS UPPITY (than beachwood) i got distracted during the post
  20. beachwood seems like it'd work for you. there are sidewalks, and it's in the middle of some primo shopping areas. however, downtown willoughby is quaint (beachwood is not) and has a lot of restaurants and bars within walking distance. it has more of a small town feel, and uppity. and willoughby to downtown is probably faster than beachwood to downtown. the school system is probably more mediocre.
  21. ^yeah definitely once you get to solon there is no "there" there, then you get to those hotly contested northern summit burbs *yawn*
  22. this is pure speculation, but i think solon might have the most ethnic diversity of the places you mentioned above. beachwood is majority jewish. the mayfield district probably has the most socioeconomic diversity of the bunch (mayfield hts with mostly smaller bungalows and ranches, highland hts and mayfield with newer developments and larger lots, and gates mills with large lot chagrin valley seclusion). your kids will do fine in any of these school districts. personally i find driving to solon from downtown to be a hassle. what is your price range?
