Despite their name, flushable wipes are indeed not flushable and will clog up your drain.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
This is the exact type of "death spiral" that has caused bus transit to diminish in Cincinnati and plenty of other cities across the country. No transit ever fully pays for itself but the false narrative spread by opponents is compelling to the layperson, many of whom are paying or have paid for their own vehicles and wonder why the streetcar can't pay for itself the same way.

Crazy amount of development happening in Indy!

Cincinnati: Downtown: 1010 On The Rhine / Downtown Kroger
It would be cool to expand the center area for vendors and/or pop-up events. If they would ever consider moving the City Flea, that would be a good spot for it.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Development and News
From: https://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/council/references-resources/city-bulletin1/ I think the fact that there is a lot of surface parking (pun intended) between both areas, reinforces that sense of separation.

Thanks for posting! Looks like they are getting ready to start doing some heavy digging and pile casting for the foundation.

Cincinnati: Parking Modernization
Our city leaders and SORTA do not do enough to promote the bus and/or streetcar as a viable alternative. The parking permit is the stick approach for visitors but we need the carrot too.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Same thing happened with me. Nuef carried over some of my favorite dishes from Huit but when Lalo took over all of that was gone and so was I. It sucks that after 4 years of experimentation that Huit was the best of the bunch. It deserves to return, hopefully with a similar menu from the original (with my much missed Pork Dumpling Ramen). We'll see...

Cincinnati: Western Hills Viaduct
That is the case. It's just a highway fund for mostly rural areas: https://usa.streetsblog.org/2018/12/12/tiger-is-a-roads-program-now/

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Development and News
Community council meetings. Also the city has “pre-hearing” conference meetings where they invite the community and the public for feedback on applications that go before the boards. They are advertised but not well.

https://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/buildings/historic-conservation/historic-conservation-board/december-17-2018-staff-report-and-attachments-item-5-only/ I think this comment on page 10 of the packet is illuminating in the denial. HCB probably was okay with the variances but wanted to take a stand on design in light of the submitted letters of opposition. I think UrbanSites does have a case to appeal to the Board of Zoning Appeals based on the staff recommendation in the report. I would be interested in seeing the Boards letter of denial which probably will outline the HCB's findings in justifying the denial. Alternatively, they could submit for review with the OTR Foundations' Infill Committee for design guidance.

No. They have not. Apartment project in Pendleton gets thumbs down By Tom Demeropolis – Senior Staff Reporter, Cincinnati Business Courier A planned infill apartment project in Pendleton received a thumbs down from the Historic Conservation Board this week. Urban Sites went to the board on Dec. 17 requesting zoning relief for a planned 56-unit apartment building at 528 E. 12th St. The board voted the project down 5 to 1. Officials with Urban Sites could not be reached for comment.

This is the greatest danger to cities and walkable places. Do we force the AV's to conform to cities, or do we conform cities to the AV's? We know what choice our society made with the car 100 years ago.

"Sixth Street Exchange will transform the Reakirt building into 60 apartments, filling nine of the building’s 10 floors. The first floor is being marketed for a restaurant/bar, with the lower level planned as amenity space for residents including a fitness center. It was formerly home to Benihana and then Kiji for a brief time. The top five floors of the neighboring Brunswick building will become office condos, with another restaurant/bar space planned at street level." https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2017/06/28/20-million-mixed-use-redevelopment-coming-to.html

By my count: 2 hotels at 7th and Race (NW & SE corners) Kimpton at 5th and Walnut The dual brand Canopy at 4th and Walnut A hotel at the Ingalls Building (4th and Vine) The boutique hotel at 6th and Sycamore (they just got something approved by the city recently, I think it was a finance deal?) Aaaand last but not least, the Autograph Collection at Lytle Park. On the horizon is a potential new Convention Center Hotel by 3CDC and the Port at 4th and Plum. Guys, I think we're more than good on hotels!

I saw that too. I think it will be preserved and renovated. We'll have to see what the new Law School will look like at the corner but these projects combined will reshape that whole area of CUF.

Cincinnati: West End: TQL Stadium
Columbus leadership has consistently demanded better quality buildings and design since at least 2000. Meanwhile, in Cincinnati, more conventional architecture is accepted. Its a combination of lack of visionary leadership mixed with a conservative culture. While there is a strong design community here, we know that currently, their opinions are not as valued in these decisions as they used to be.
