  1. Can't we just shift the conversation to the Beyond the Streetcar: The Future of Rail Transit in Cincinnati?
  2. Well, it is called the Cincinnati Bell Connector. We kept the Cincinnati Streetcar name first for obvious reasons (future uses discussion, etc) but as for now, the streetcar is called the Cincinnati Bell Connector. Or you could just buy out Cincy Bell and call the streetcar whatever you want! :D Or we can call it the artist formerly known as the Cincinnati Streetcar but is now known as:
  3. There has been a surge in Korean oriented restaurants opening in Cincinnati yet no real Korean BBQ.
  4. I heard that Cincy Bell wanted only their logo on it for a day and so the bottom wraps were not put on today. They will be put on tomorrow though.
  5. Ha!
  6. I like these types of long vertical signs placed on the buildings. This is very prominent in Asian cities and really contributes to the feel of vibrancy at night. However I'm sure residents that have to live next to these signs outside their windows are not fans of it. Below is a photo I took from Seoul that illustrates the effect I am talking about.
  7. Better or worse than 1973? <a href="https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cincinnati_Vine_Street_in_1973.jpg#/media/File:Cincinnati_Vine_Street_in_1973.jpg"><img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a2/Cincinnati_Vine_Street_in_1973.jpg/1200px-Cincinnati_Vine_Street_in_1973.jpg" alt="Cincinnati Vine Street in 1973.jpg"></a>
  8. Don't drop one on this forum... or else!
  9. Really need to get a Din Tai Fung here: http://dintaifungusa.com/
  10. Che is there as well. But honestly taestell[/member] is right. There is barely any real retail presence on Walnut and the storefronts besides what is listed above contain offices. Any apparel store is going to struggle on this street until the 1400 block of Walnut is improved and/or the offices convert to retail (which is doubtful.)

  12. I never thought the move the Banks was a good idea because it would be a waste of high value high public investment tax dollars. Moving to a downtown parking lot near the courthouse, or a rehabbed Dennison would make more sense.
  13. I saw somewhere that garage demo beings Sept. 10.
  14. Streetcar colors won't matter much anyway. Most of the vehicle will be covered in ads and the Cincy Bell naming rights. Here is what council approved back in October 2015 for ad placements: Red is where Cincy Bell logo and graphics will go. Purple is where Rhinegeist and other wrap ads will go. Yay...
  15. I won't mind the color change if its sharp and tasteful. My biggest fear is that the city and Metro put tons of effort into branding the Streetcar to make it look stylish and it comes out looking like a clown car. That being said we are still going to have giant ads plastered all over the outside for 4EG, ToB and Rhinegeist so its going to be bad either way.
  16. Can the 12th and Main stop be called "We can't figure out how to get fioptics from the street to your building" stop?

Yet another amazing photo thread! You are a master at capturing cities and their people in a way that always seems to astound. National Geographic would be jealous if they saw this thread. I may send it to them anyway. That being said...when are we going to get Japan? Or west coast? Or Montreal/Boston 2013? :-P

I have been working on it on and off for the last 10 months.

For almost the past year I have been working on a Cities Skylines version of Cincinnati. The goal was to download a map and plot out about 25 tiles of the city with accurate transit and all. I'm pretty close but the project is also pretty frustrating. For example, I don't know how to mod landmark buildings so I downloaded some art deco buildings as placeholders. Below are some pictures from the city I took last month. I will post more as it grows! A view of City West. Fort Washington Way, the Banks and the Ohio River. There are no two-lane suspension bridges so the Roebling looks like crap. Woodburn Avenue in East Walnut Hills Downtown View of the city from East Price Hill
  20. Ha! Yep!
  21. Streetcar is guilty until proven innocent.
  22. Wow! Great things are underway in downtown Dayton!

And don't forget not all of downtown Cincy is vibrant either. The Banks is most active during game days. Fountain Square and east downtown during the day and weekends. Downtown west of Race is the biggest dead spot next to the parking lots off Eggleston. Also regarding tower cranes and parking lots, most of the development in Cincy's CBD & OTR is historic rehab. Projects like 4th and Walnut, 4th and Plum and 309 Vine are big projects and we'll never see a tower crane for those.
  24. http://cagismaps.hamilton-co.org/csr/cincinnati/serviceRequest or Call 513-591-6000. The hotline is staffed weekdays (except holidays), 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  25. With the demolition of the Red Cross Garage and now the Pogues garage this area is home to some of downtowns oldest and most derelict garages. The Shilitos garage and the ones north of the convention center should be the next to go. The building at the NE Corner of Elm and 6th is for some fitness club. There is a sign for it somewhere on street level.
