Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I have mixed feelings about the old proposal at 15th and Race. I supported saving the rear of the existing building and reducing the parking but now city commissions like the HCB and Planning Commission are looking for agreements on parking for garages (like the Streitmann Biscuit building on 12th and Central Parkway) as conditions for project approval. While I think this is an unfair bar for an urban neighborhood there are many stakeholders now seeking parking guarantees for projects in OTR. Having a public garage at 15th and Race would have eased those pressures, at least for a few years, but now the perceived lack of parking in OTR is starting to restrict development density for new infill projects. And its not as simple as saying, "But the streetcar is nearby," as a reason to reduced parking because most local developers and lenders do not figure that into their loan calculations. This may change over time, but not overnight, and likely not without the expansion of the existing system.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
Bond had two floors along Vine and Penny's had the Race corner. The valet entrance on 6th Street for the hotel is not original to the building and used to be more retail space.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Dennison Hotel Demolition
Even if the demolition is denied, I would expect Columbia to appeal this as far as possible.

- Cincinnati: I-71 Improvements / Uptown Access Project (MLK Interchange)
I heard somewhere that this interchange was intentionally designed to be a suburban and sprawling as possible in order to demolish all the buildings between I-71 and Gilbert. Urban renewal is alive and well here.- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Artistry
These guys need to seriously take a look at the parking lots between Eggleston and Broadway behind P&G then! Kinda like this: http://www.urbancincy.com/2015/03/two-big-ideas-to-bring-cincinnatis-urban-housing-boom-to-next-level/- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
The article headline should be re-titled, "Lost suburbanite trespasses on streetcar." Accidental tourism at its finest!- Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
^They are 10 feet.- Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
The irony of all this is that the streetcar was developed to reinvigorate the dense walkable urban core of the city but all we can get through are low density townhomes like the ones on Elm Street.- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
My guess is that in order to secure TOB they had to say no to Starbucks.- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks

Or we could do this!!- Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Music Hall
When the city brought famed Times Square planner John Alschuler in post riots to assess what needed to be done to reposition downtown he toured around the city and asked city officials where all the people were. They were in the skywalks. If you want a city with street level vitality, skywalks are not the answer. The skywalk system had other issues including confusion over who had responsibility of the maintenance, inducing a class separation (poor on the streets, everyone else in the skywalk) and hiding retail from street frontages. This is why the city has for years promoted the demolition of them since 2001. However; it looks like we are going backwards on that policy in certain places. Even though the circumstances of this skywalk are isolated from the overall downtown skywalk system, its a shame this one has been allowed to stay. If there are disabled people or elderly, wouldn't it be wiser to drop them off or use valet at the front entrance or the handicapped entrance? There are ways to accommodate them that does not include keeping the skywalk.- Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Music Hall
For moderate climates, skywalks are never good for urban vitality. This is one that needed to go. They could have improved the street level crosswalk instead.- Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
It will be a 2-story building. http://city-egov.cincinnati-oh.gov/Webtop/ws/council/public/child/Blob/44883.pdf?rpp=-10&m=1&w=doc_no%3D%27201600593%27- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
The ordinance that passed gives the event organizers the power to ask the streetcar to stop operations during the event. However; if the event organizers and Metro work something out then they may not request service be shut down.- Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Two-way went down in flames after DOTE took traffic on Reds Opening Day. They said there is too much traffic on Main to make it two-way.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel

Taken this morning. Enhanced a bit because the original was too dark. They are up to the 5th garage level and are pouring the first floor ceiling along Sycamore. - Cincinnati: I-71 Improvements / Uptown Access Project (MLK Interchange)
