  1. I think it could support something small and low key (like a coffee shop, small eatery etc.). With Lytle Tower near by, the increased residential population with office workers can sustain a few small businesses and add some vitality to that area.
  2. According to the documents they submitted to the PC last Friday they seem to be pursuing apartments, office and retail. http://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/bldginsp/downloads/bldginsp_eps44772.pdf Relevant information starts on page 2.

  4. CVG in 2012: Year of transition 7:59 PM, Dec. 20, 2011 Written by Amanda Van Benschoten HEBRON — The new year will be one of major transition for the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, and its 2012 operating budget reflects an agency trying to position itself for the future. The $107.9 million budget adopted this week includes cuts to recurring costs, lower landing fees for airlines, and some short-term investments in areas that officials hope result in long-term growth to air service and revenue. “We’re on the right track,” Michael Robinson, chairman of the Kenton County Airport Board, said Tuesday. “We can’t just keep waiting. We have to be proactive, and I think that’s what we’re doing.”

In the future, urban bikers go faster than cars In Hollywood movies, the cities of the future have speeding monorails and flying cars, everyone careening toward their destination at a zillion miles per hour. (The future always looks surprisingly like “The Jetsons,” which turns 50 next year.) It makes for great CGI. But does it make for a great city? For generations, velocity has defined the urban experience: screeching subways, maniacal taxis, hustling crowds. Life in the fast lane. A New York minute is no minute at all. Even as our roads become clogged with traffic, we think of cities as most city-like when they move at a blur. But look around (if you have a second) and you might notice that a lot of the new ideas seeping into cities are aimed not at making them faster, but slowing them down. The buzziest mode of transport now is a bicycle. Streetcars, a pokey throwback, are returning.
  6. Saw this in the Cincinnati Business Courier: Halliburton could hire 300 at Zanesville shale business Energy services provider Halliburton Co. has tentative plans to open an operations center in Zanesville to serve companies drilling in the Utica shale formation in Ohio, Columbus Business First reported. The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority on Friday entered into an agreement to sell 178 acres in the organization’s EastPointe Business Park to Halliburton.
  7. Looks like they are looking for more national apparel retailers at the proposed development. That means a better chance of having that H&M or Aeropostale. New leasing team named for U Square @ the Loop Business Courier by Tom Demeropolis, Staff Reporter Date: Friday, December 16, 2011, 11:08am EST A nearly $80 million mixed-use development just south of the University of Cincinnati will break ground at the start of 2012, but the leasing team that has been working to bring restaurants and retailers to U Square @ the Loop has been replaced. The project development team signed a new contract with Norwood-based Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate Inc. to complete the leasing of the retail space. The Heekin Team at Cassidy Turley had been working to fill 80,000 square feet of retail space for four years, signing four tenants. John Heekin, Andrew Sellet and Mike Heekin were able to sign deals to fill 12,700 square feet of space at U Square, with tenants that include DiBella’s Old Fashioned Submarines, Firehouse Subs, Great Clips, and a restaurant concept to be developed by Four Entertainment Group.

  10. Looks like they're headed back to the City's Planning Commission tomorrow for yet another extension. Good grief!
  11. It was logistical at the time (apparently it's easier to push paper across 1 floor instead of up and down floors) but with the increasing use of electronic filing, they've seemed to realize they don't need the horizontal space.
  12. Here: IRS to stay in Covington City takes broad overview 11:23 PM, Sep. 20, 2011 Written by Mike Rutledge COVINGTON - On a night city leaders lamented the loss of Omnicare and the payroll taxes the Fortune 500 firm has meant to the City Hall, they also rejoiced that the Internal Revenue Service plans to keep several thousand jobs in Covington at its regional tax-return processing center, and touted new jobs that can result from an existing business accelerator program the city plans to build upon. "It's been a long week and it's only Tuesday," City Manager Larry Klein quipped toward the end of the City Commission meeting, a day after Omnicare announced its departure... The article goes on to say, "'They are remaining in Covington. They are reinvesting in Covington,' said Klein, who has said Covington is pleased the IRS is looking to transform its multi-acre, single-story facility that occupies much of the city's riverfront into a tower that will occupy a smaller footprint, allowing expansion of the Northern Kentucky Convention Center while also opening up acres of other land for new development."
  13. Looks like Middle Earth still is sitting on this property. It's a shame because it could be a great apartment community right in the heart of downtown.
