Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
1. Smitherman's base is conservative black voters based largely in Avondale, Bond Hill, maybe Evanston. This guy was president of the NAACP for years so he has enough support somewhere in the city to make a decent showing. Just because someone is black doesn't mean they're automatically liberal democrats. As it stands, the same people that got Winburn into office can get Smitherman into office and that's pretty scary. 2. It's almost a month before the election. Anything can happen and I bet the margin of error on that poll was pretty high. Also it'd be nice to know the sample size of the poll and if it was conducted by mail or phone. 3. If you're against Issue 48 and relying on pro-labor dems to show up to vote against the Issue 2, you have to realize the there will be a push on the right to pass Issue 3 so basically there could be a wash with larger turn out on both sides. What you can do is donate or volunteer to CFP and talk to someone that doesn't tweet, facebook or surf this forum about the consequences of Issue 48.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Thanks for the update. I noticed the lot on 14th between Vine and Walnut is now graded with some sort of gravel aggregate. Looks like it'll be the staging area for Phases I & II of Mercer Commons.

He compares the streetcar to a GTO saying that older generations won't get it but it's the sleek, cool new thing for the next generation.

Expect this story to be front page in tomorrow or Sunday's print edition. Story about Santa Claus will be below the fold. Meanwhile, I'll be riding some boondoggles on my trip out to Europe here in a few days.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I typically carry two bags from the OTR Krogers to my apartment four blocks away with no problems. You just have to buy what you can carry. I'd recommend using reusable shopping bags or purchasing your own shopping cart for larger hauls.

In both instances the police officers did their jobs. It would be a different story if someone other than the perpetrator was shot. I think these things actually highlight the need for the streetcar. Especially around Findlay Market where redevelopment and increased foot traffic can help drastically reduce the criminal presence there.

It's important to keep an eye on what streetcar opponents are saying. Likewise, everyone knows the COASTers read this forum to get their intel on what the supporters are doing.
