Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Other than trying to steer the project to one of his biggest campaign contributors, can you speculate on a reason that the Mayor is working against the mall site?

Cleveland charities rank 2nd in U.S.
Very cool. If you give money to a Cleveland based charity, odds are it will be used nearly exclusively for the intended purpose. Many charites and non profilts operate at well above 20% overhead.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
The Plain Dealer owes city residents an apology. Is it just me, or has the paper gone straight to hell since this new editor came in.

I'm going to trust the opinion of MMPI. They so far have impressed me. If they decide TC is the site, I will not complain too loudly. What I am really waiting for is for MMPI to blow a gapping hole in this latest attempt by FC.

Moving from Chicago to Cleveland in 3 weeks....Need Help!
My vote soleone is still Tremont, but since you are pressed for time and family safety is a concern Lakewood is a solid choice. It may not be exactly cutting edge, but its everything KJP said it was. Back in the 80s it was known for being the area's gay and lesbian center. Not so much of a boystown with its strip of bars, but mostly for a high concentration of gays and lesbians who lived there within a rather tolerent community. I guess my point is that is has a progressive vibe for being a rather typical older suburb. It also has a crap load of bars, mostly sports bars. So it has a mix of enlightened intellectuals and sports loving meat heads. You would be surprised how often in Cleveland those could be the same person. Lakewood = Beverly sorta. My advice to people when they are moving is do what I do when I move to a new town (something I have done about 10 times in the past 12 years.) Pick a potential neighborhood, then seek out its neighborhood joint and chat up the bartenders and regulars. They will tell you nearly everyone you want to know about the area. If you have the time to do it, I am sure we could all re comend places for you to check out. For the first few months you are going to be so spoiled by the rush hours here.

Moving from Chicago to Cleveland in 3 weeks....Need Help!
i bounced around Chicago a bunch before moving to New Orleans. I lived on Southport, Roscoe Village, And South Loop. What about Wicker, exactly, did you love? Was it the restaurants, housing, neighbors? As apposed to say a Roscoe Village.? Wicker, in my view was more hipster/artsy/grittier than Roscoe? Is that how you saw it? My early vote is Tremont, it has a great mix of cutting edge restaurants (google Michael Simon) a working class heritage, and a great, perhaps under utilized, park, Lincoln Park. Regardless, you will be pleasently surprised about how much you will like Cleveland.

Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
Scotts, I was just upset that they tore down the Dollar Bank building and broke up the Euclid Avenue facade wall, for really nothing. Parking could be accomodated through the Prosect side of the building. Prospect would be much easier to get in and out of than Euclid anyways.

327, I'm guessing that the ID card agreement with the RTA says something to the effect of "must present valid ID" without the sticker, it would be invalid or expired It is like trying to be served at a bar with an expired ID. According to the law it an expired ID is invalid, and should not be used for ID purpose. You may very well be 21+, but without a valid ID you don't get the privilages that you would have had if you had a valid ID. Does that make sense?

How is the Arcade doing these days? To me, it seems like the new stores that are going into TC would have gone to the Arcade in past years.

I found the article on the cuyahoga county planning commision weblog. I always forget the address, so I google "cuyahoga blog" and it pops up first. It is a GREAT resource, and I think it is run by a UOer, but I am not sure.

OSU Student, nice apt. to live in?
I lived at 250 W. Norwich, a Pella apartment and it is still one of my favorite places I ever lived (and I have moved around A LOT). I would recomend any property that borders the park down there. In my old age I forget the name of the park, tuttle? maybe. Anywho, it is nice and quiet most of the year, and crazy fun for game days.
