Metro Cleveland: Road & Highway News
^^Where do I begin. recognize that the day when the vast majority of people - particularly families with kids - want to live in traditional city neighborhoods is long past.. I don't want to craft a response that could be taken as a personal attack, but I fundamentally reject that idea. I also reject the idea that greenfield development in the exurbs is good for the comunity as a whole.

Great cities need great suburbs I disagree, I think great suburbs need great cities. Great cities don't need suburbs at all. Does Chicago need Naperville?

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
Uptown :| EDIT: I am very exited about this development, don't get me wrong. But, uptown seems uninspired and tired. I get that they are trying to make it the equivalent of downtown, but why not compare public square to university circle. If you are in the middle of downtown and want to go to the center of culture in Cleveland, take the line from the square, past the quadrangle, and once you hit the triangle, you are in the middle of the circle. It could not be any clearer. :)

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
It seems to me that since the convention center / medical mart had its financing in place, it is a whole new ballgame in downtown Cleveland. I think that is why the Jacob's proposal is now realistic.

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
Could he be doing a bit of saber rattling at Jacobs? IIRC, pesht started out a lot smaller than what we have seen peaking through windows. But now that Jacobs want to do a mega tower, this mega project can't go through? Couldn't it just reduce to its original size?

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
Because of the new GM - UAW contract there is a significant chance for increased manufacturing in Cleveland and other union areas. With this new road, this area will look very attractive. My long winded reasons are below This union - GM contract is such a great development, especially for union territory like Cleveland. I have been pretty much a union basher because I have been frustrated with their "take it or leave it" negotiating stance. But this contract is extraordinary because for the first time, the unions actually want to work with the company to make the company stronger. How does that translate to Cleveland and other pro-union areas (and the forgotten triangle)? The union went on strike to protect the number of workers, so the pool of union workers will remain constant. Manufacturers will not likely want their non union facilities to become union, so the jobs will stay in the midwest. But over the past few contracts, the UAW has been steadily requiring that suppliers (such as my company) be UAW organized. I have not seen the contract, but I expect that to be a huge part of it. So in the future suppliers will have to be union to supply to Ford/GM/Chrysler, even Tier II and Tier III. So these manufactures might have to consider building new facilities in pro-union areas. If you can't tell, I am very happy with this development in manufacturing. It bodes well for Cleveland. Sorry I rambled. But I think this road will open the forgotten area to manufactures.

What if?... Scranton Peninsula. Ideas welcome.
Crocker park ON THE RIVER!!! But, seriously. I would just be happy with a housing developemnt. Start with a ring of townhomes, and then if there continues to be interest, throw in a condo tower or two. Just like what Forest City did here in Chicago's south loop
