Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
How much state funding does GCRTA recieve as a percent of budget? How does that compare to other RTAs? I am asking because here in Chicago the state did not come up with money the local RTA was hoping for. Now next Thursday is being billed as "doomsday." Chicago likes hyperbole.

Help the pope find an apartment!
What is wrong with the Vatican? :) Anywho, when I worked at Treehouse, a lot of the bartenders and regulars owned multi-unit houses and were always looking for people to rent....but that was 4 years ago Stop in and ask for Eileen the GM, or Paul, or Margot. They should be able to help you. Also try Sherman at Southside.

^there are thousands of ways you could put up temporary restroom signs. The fact that they choose scribbling down on a piece of paper, and letting that paper hang up there for a few weeks shows they lack the attention to detail in order to succeed. I have worked in dozens of bars and restaurants, and have seen hundreds come and go. Something like what was described is a huge red flag.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Welcome JMasek! Lets toss you a softball.....What is RTAs criteria for providing service? Why do some area get a circulator, for instance? How often do you reevaluate customer needs and allocate resources accordingly? Alright, I will cut to the chase....how do we get more rail lines in Cleveland? :)

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
Maybe he was clumisly trying to say, this might rank with Mayor Jackson's proudest moments as mayor. I did not hear it, so it is easier to give the benefit of the doubt.

^^if you were coming down St. Clair hill and wanted to get across the river via the swing bridge, you would drive right in front of the place. I am guessing a lot of Irish westsiders decided they had drove far enough for that leg of the journey when they would see the Flat Iron sign :)

a bit off the topic, but they play that ks####'s Debbie Downer bit that at sidetracks in Chicago. Maybe it is the booze, but everytime I see it, I nearly fall on the ground laughing. Kinda kills my game, but a good belly laugh is priceless.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
I am formulating a letter to the editor in my head that basically asks for columnist who actually like the city. Not love the city, because everyone at the PD who piss all over the city with every article claims they do it because the love the city so much. How about people who actually: 1. Live in the city and 2. Are happy with positive directions the city's communities are taking. 3. When bad news happens, they put it into a context of the whole story of Cleveland The last point is not to say whitewash all of the bad news, rather put it in context. A string of crimes in one area of town could put a lot of the positive improvements in the neighborhood in jeopardy. But if you never report about the good, it just becomes (let me think of something Regina Brett would say...) just more senseless random violence. The ideas are gelling, it is just not in a letter form yet

How has business been lately? I used to barback there in.....1993? and it was very busy most nights. Then once the street was reconfigured, it lost a TON of business and was sold to the current owners

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Anyone see a Regina Brett article that tried to say nice things about Cleveland. I could not even read it, because I was afraid it would be a stealth attack on Cleveland. Over the weekend I just did not want to get mad at a computer screen.

Would there be any way the new CC could push back into the existing structures, like the movie theater and food court? Just trying to figure out a way to get it away from the river

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
What I think is the absolute best part of this entire story is the fact they while a bunch of companies' leases are coming up, no one is looking to leave the city. For me, and I ain't no city planner, it seems that the quality of life investments that the city has made over the past 20 years such as Gateway, WHD, RRHof, Science Museum, E.4th, the Silver line etc., are starting to bear fruit. People want to be in Cleveland, and companies are happy to be based here!

line one was a joke line two was asking if there has been any micro spinoff from the Avenue construction, such as new for sale/for lease signs going up or coming down north on St. Clair, for instance.

Cleveland: Cleveland Institute of Art Expansion
Hmm, "Residences at Museum Tower" is a little too real estate-y for me. I'd be happy with the street address or "Wade Tower" or something with a tasteful historical hook like that. I'm guessing we got a few years to think about it... Would "Jeptha's place" pass for tasteful?
