  1. ...from pg. 9 of this thread To support greater Cleveland’s existing hospitality industry, the CFA determined that new convention facilities should be built in downtown with: * 300,000 square feet of exhibition space; * 100,000 square feet of meeting rooms, and * 35,000 square feet of ballrooms
  2. What we would like to build is a Medical Mart alongside a trade show facility that would accommodate 250,000 square feet of exhibitor space 250,000 sq. feet? Wasn't the proposed center behind terminal tower 350,000? I guess I could just scroll back a few pages......
  3. I remember being a kid marching in the St. Pat's parade and we would always wind up at the Mall. The fountains were just sitting there, rusting away for years. If I remember correctly, when they redid the convention center in the 80's they had the fountains working again for one year. I think...maybe.

Be sure to check out Detroit Shoreway/Gordon Square/Battery Park, it is roughly W.60-W70th from Detroit Ave. to the Lake. There is good connections to the lake from this neighborhood and there are many really exiting things happening in this neighborhood. Search any of the words Detroit Shoreway/Gordon Square/Battery Park on the main forum screen and you can read all about it. I am an ex-pat living in Chicago, but if I get a chance to move home, that is the area where I would move.
  6. ^Maybe someone is trying to send you a message....maybe the skyscraper photographers mob?
  7. Are they still pushing "Uptown"?
  8. I'm lazy....what is the timeline for completion of the different phases...or at least phase 1?
  9. I just read a conflicting report saying that MM wouldn't come in until the the new cc is built. That contradicts everything we've heard up until now. It might be a scare tactic to help push the tax through
  10. what is in the Cleveland water....is this the next step in the zebra muscle's world domination plan? (yeah, probably in poor taste, but what is going on is really, really weird)
  11. What does everyone think about Merchandise Mart people running the CC? I think it might be more efficient than city hall/county government. If they do run it, I really hope there is a fair lease and perhaps the county can get its investment back
  12. The cops really don't care unless they are loud or fighting That is the point. If they are loud or fighting, it is the responsibility of the bar to get them on their way, especially in a neighborhood with residential.
  13. ^I think they just want everything a go in case the convention center is postponed again. If so, then the county admin building goes on the front burner.
  14. so how do you make those "back on topic" type pictures?
  15. ^Oh man, I hope Snow White's stepmom does not make an appearance :)
  16. It may or may not be accurate, but we can certainly find out if no police officers were assigned duty to the WD the night of July 3rd. If it is true, then fingers need to be pointed. Wow, that is exactly what the people from the Spy bar said. I am going to point my fingers at the spy bar. I have worked for bars for years, and it is the responsibility of the bar to make sure its patrons dispurse quietly once the bar closes. If they are unable, then they are a nuisance.
  17. For a city with a bleak economic outlook, the medical mart could be just the medicine it needs. :x
  18. here is an old article, remember this discussion? Wolstein brings debate into the light 01/19/03 Steven Litt Give Bert Wolstein credit for crashing the party. At the 11th hour in a largely secret debate about where to locate a new convention center in Cleveland, the Moreland Hills developer publicly offered to build one at his expense on a spectacular piece of underused land - the site of a former Norfolk Southern switching yard on the south side of downtown. Wolstein, known mainly as a shopping-center developer, said Tuesday that he wants to build a 500,000-square-foot convention center and lease it back to Cleveland. He would charge $19.5 million a year - potentially less than the city would have to pay to finance a convention center on its own. At the end of a 25-year lease, he said he would consider transferring title to the city. more at: http://www.cleveland.com
  19. Easy there I engineer and build the Ford Taurus :) The new ones are really Volvo's with a Ford logo on it. OK, back to Cracker Park
  20. $100,000,000.00 of Ohio State money used to "improve safety" after Stephanie Hummer and this is the result.
  21. ^best of luck to you, and if my vote counts, I thihnk you made a great decision. be sure to frequent stone mad and the parkview
  22. Whats going on with the condos? Why are they not yet finished? Are they having a problem selling units? Thanks! My two cents (sorry MTS :)) is that this is the highest profile development these guys have going right now. Even if presales are going slow, they would still push ahead with completion. If they were short of cash, I am sure thier suburban projects would get the short end of the stick
  23. Thanks for the pics, I used to live in the Rice Hotel, it was nice to see a few shots in the thread
  24. Here in Chicago people are shot and killed inside of clubs, usually when they are with NFL players (Tank Johnson)
  25. ^^Pope, from what I remember from getting my 4 year degree in 7 years at Ohio State, is that buildings at universities are payed for directly from the General Assembly. So in a sense the State of Ohio owns all of the academic buildings in the university. Buildings that support academics such as dorms and administration buildings I am not so sure. But I do know that student centers and rec centers are not paid for by the GA, and typically they are paid by students. At OSU there was an separate fee (activities fee?) that paid for the construction of the Unions and rec centers. I am not sure if the university must do it that way, or if they just perfer it that way.
