I did not like the "Cleveland+" until I saw the video and read the article from Pittsburg But then again, I do everything my TV tells me to :-) I am a marketers dream

What's the incentive for a company to offer free wifi? Maybe a company will step up, such as HP or Dell, and sign an exclusivity contract with the city where only thier company's computers will be able to connect to the city wide network. But, then again, I don't know if that is even feasible. EDIT: OK, I thought I read the post above mine.....never mind

Ask them if there is enough money to even begin the project
  4. It looks like they were discussing what happened in 2006, and not the first quarter of 2007
  5. I am looking at the 5 empty pint glasses that one time contained coffee in the past 2 and a half hours. I need help
  6. They still want to use "uptown" :|
  7. Battery Park is closest to the lake, across from Edgewater park (more or less). Gordon Square is right there as well. One of the coolest bars in Cleveland (IMHO) the Parkview is right there. Also the guys who own the Treehouse (who along with Lola 10 years ago helped to put Tremont on the map) are sinking over 2million into a pub on 65th. For a coffee shop, the Gypsy bean coffee shop is right there on the corner. What is happening in that stretch of Cleveland is there are taking a highway and converting it back to a 35mph boulevard. It is opening a lot of development possibilities and many people, the local movers, shakers and hipsters, are settling into the area. If I were to move back to Cleveland, this is the area I would live in. Anywhere north of Detroit is going to be safe and will only get safer.
  8. How is the Arcade doing with retail lately....any of the arcades?
  9. ^^Sorry Smackem...didn't see your post
  10. I would have moved the Browns stadium to the other side of the interbelt by Jacobs field, and extend gateway with a community rec center....
  11. ^Willoughby has a nice, authentic small town downtown....the rest of the cities above do not. Just an FYI
  12. One area in Cleveland that you should look into is the area around W. 65th between Detroit and the lakeshore. My brother bought a place there about 10 years ago and it was very safe then. There is a whole lot of development about to happen there (check out the gordon Sq. thread http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=2873.0) and if you want real-estate appriciation, IMHO, this is the area that will just explode.

I was talking to my cousin last week who is an engineer working for the county engineer. He told me two interesting things. One, everyone in his office thinks that repairing the old bridge is a terrible decision, but it was more or less mandated by City Hall because of the promise to not destroy the church. Two, at this point all interbelt discussions are becoming simply academic, because there is not enough money to do even the minimum alternative and construction prices continue to rise. So unless there is additional funding from Washington or Columbus.....all that will be done are the types of repairs detailed above. He also said the westside shoreway project is also getting close to not having money to do the job. But, I am not sure how much of his job is specifically tasked to the interbelt, but I know he does a lot of roadway and bridge work. He is in the office, so I guess I am just passing on water cooler talk.
  14. ^how long did you research that last post? As a card carrying smartass, I applaud you my friend
  15. Ashtabula is in the metro area, Grasscat spends a lot of time formatting the posts so you can easily read the article headline and where it is from. If you don't want to read it, scroll down. As an out of towner, it is nice to read about the smaller stories from the area.
  16. likes like the free time is spreading more of its brand of joy
  17. ^I don't think anyone is upset by the medical mart. For me, I don't like the idea of the CC going behind Tower City because there simply is not enough room for it. It is like shoving 10 pounds of sugar into a 5 pound bag. It will close off one of the cities waterfronts, the river, and do nothing for the lakefront. The current site would at least improve lakefront connections to downtown. But this has all been said before.....
  18. The real question is, why does the league open in cold weather cities so early in the season? Because they have done it for over 100 years
  19. I bartend here is Chicago, near Sox Park, and I have a lot of regulars who like to give me grief for being a tribe fan. They were all offering thier sympothy to me because as one guy put it "It makes Cleveland look really bad. Do you think they are thinking of moving the team?" Grrrrr
  20. One Walnut, just off of E. 9th, and Classics at the Clinic pop into my head as very highly reviewed fine dining restaurants. The Tremont area has some nice, newer places. I am sure there are others on the board who can give better suggestions. Now if you need to know where to booze, I am excellent resource.
  21. This in no way looks good for Cleveland, I hate it.
  22. What exactly is new? This is the 18th page of this discussion, and this "important development" has been speculated on and discussed extensively. For instance, I am still waiting for an admin to award me my ten points :)
  23. I want 10 points for calling this one
  24. Is the second picture just a blow up of the first, or did it come from somewhere else? I am confused I am easily confused
