^I just wonder with people making decisions from a corporate office in Ohio, or in NY they would look at the two addresses, one on Michigan Ave, the other on State St. and decide they want the "flagship" to be on Michigan Ave.

The financial districts of Chicago are not exactly teaming with life when it is cold either. LaSalle, where the Board of Trade is located is about as lively as E. 9th is most days

I'm glad I waste my money on booze, less things to pack when I move
  6. Since they are bringing in Grand Master Flash maybe we they can invite future rock hall inductees and hijack the induction ceremonies. Have the inductees jam as part of the ingenuity festival.

Since Macy's has downgraded the State street store, I bet in about 10 years they will close it, since Watertower place is so close. They already have exclusives at both State street and WTP.

One of the things I am most proud of Euclid is the fact of how it became naturally integrated. It wasn't a planned integration like in the heights. There are still some areas not well integrated, but on the whole, it is. Ever since I have been old enough to understand people have been writing the epitaph for Euclid, but it has not died. Someone mentioned the city only having one good restaurant, the Beach Club. Well, that restaurant has only opened within the past few years, so I view that as a sign of life. The developers of Stonebridge in the Flats bought and renovated most of the highrise apartments along the lake, another positive. Lincoln Electric has had the most growth they have ever had over the past three years. So we have a city with a huge lakefront, a growing corporate tax base, a downtown that is budding new businesses, and an area along the border with Cleveland and along Euclid Ave that has a crime problem. Does that diminish the crime problem, no. But the city is not about to fall apart. As Cleveland is to the nation, Euclid is to Greater Cleveland.

The Sun-Times is a rag, it is the "19 action news" of newspapers. If this article was in the Tribune, then I would be upset.
  12. There has been some consideration of reconfiguring the east end of the bridge. This is detailed in the Pesht thread. Right now, the east end of the bridge doesn't mesh very well with the Warehouse district.
  13. Where is Virginia Marti (?sp) school right now?

In the places that try to enforce the smoking ban, is there a problem with people trying to take their drinks outside with them when they smoke? Just wondering if some bars have had to hire extra staff

Mayor backs off promise for Ward 11 rec center Polensek-Campbell talks no longer in play Saturday, February 24, 2007 Susan Vinella Plain Dealer Reporter A month before the 2005 election, then-Mayor Jane Campbell gave Councilman Mike Polensek and his North Collinwood neighborhood what they had wanted for years: a promise to build a recreation center in their community. Two weeks later, Polensek endorsed Campbell, in part because she delivered on the center. Today, she is gone from office - defeated by rival Frank Jackson - and so is the promise of a new recreation center on Lake Shore Boulevard near Humphrey Field. Gone, too, is nearly $1 million in taxpayer money the city spent to buy a former Big Lots building to house the center. ........

Lesson learned for future smoking bans Ohio...a few weeks after the law is voted on, only the people who voted for it actually follow the law Chicago...An immediate ban on restuarants, a two and a half year wait until all taverns, bowling alleys, etc are subject to the ban. Most of my customers were against the ban when they were debating it. Now that it is still nearly a year away, most are ready for it, some are actually waiting for it.
  23. ^OK, quit picking on the municipal little brother
  24. ^bunch of BS Are you telling me football players are tripping overthemselves to get to Canton Baseball players to Cooperstown? It is not the artists, it is the NY board, always has been
  25. This reminds me of a Simpson's episode when the family needed money, so Bart offered to take up smoking, then quit and pitch in the cigarette money to the family.... I bet you both Wal-Mart and Target take the tax break, then donate the money to the towpath and schools But, for the record, I do not believe any person or company should pay more in taxes than is what is legally required, so I would not blame them for taking the money.
