  1. Residents blame Gateway for rise in crime throughout north campus Meagan Engle Posted: 5/5/06 Many people consider north campus the safer end of the University District. What they might not realize is the area has problems all its own. In recent years, the area north of Lane Avenue has transformed. Bars offer deals not found in the South Campus Gateway, and the promise of cheap drinks draws crowds nightly. Not everyone is smiling about the increase in business, though. Home owners in the area are disrupted nightly by their homes being vandalized, drunk people yelling and bottles being smashed. "I have to call the police on a nightly basis," said Bela Koe-Krombecher, who bought his house on East Dodridge two-and-a-half years ago. A longtime resident of Columbus, he did not anticipate the noise and trash that accompany living next to the crowded bars. "It has created an awful crime problem in the area," he said. "Students are not criminals, but they draw the criminals." Read the full article here: http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1P1-123611250.html

  5. I thought the lawsuit was the other way around, with OU suing OSU for having only "Ohio" on several uniforms. Off to google....... ..........back from google GIVE & TAKE Ohio U. and Ohio State U. Settle Trademark Tussle Over 'Ohio' A crisis of identity is ending as Ohio State and Ohio Universities settle their long-standing trademark dispute over the word "Ohio." Lawyers for the two institutions had wrangled over use of the word on merchandise and in marketing since 1997, when Ohio State complained to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Two years earlier, the office had allowed Ohio University to register a trademark for the word "Ohio," and O.U. had asked O.S.U. to limit its use of the word.

  13. The Nautica parking lot, IMHO is almost as depressing as Jacob's lot on Public Square. I would love to see a chunk taken out of it for development. (I just realized the two parking lots are owned by the same family :|)

  21. Steel is still high, but it has been stable for about a year. Copper, on the other hand is CRAZY high. It now costs 1.25 cents to make a penny, No joke. Nearly all welding consumables are made from copper, so while steel remains steady, the cost of any manuacturing or construction keeps continuing to rise.
  22. Hey KJP, any idea on what specific retailers he is looking to bring into phase I? Although, I don't live downtown and would be interested in renting I wonder if any buildings currently offer "rent to own" deals I am pretty sure the pointe at gateway has that.
