Quicken Loans expanding to Cleveland
For my brief time in greater Detroit, I could never see Rock moving out of Michigan. For the simple reason that Rock only does business in Michigan. Quicken loans, however, could still one day set up shop in Cleveland. But I also hope Rock goes downtown. That is really the only part of Greater Detroit I liked. (Ann Arbor is a whore)

3 Dog Pat replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWell, although the string shoppe has been there for years, and I assume it does a good business, it does not pass the Campus Partners test. Looks like they have to go. I just thought of something...maybe Campus Partners strategy to fill up the Gateway center is to take the buildings that popular businesses are in by eminent domain and make them move to Gateway. Catfish Biffs, Out-R-Inn, UDF, SBX, progressive audio, Teck's, etc., "Its in the community's best interest if you set up shop in Gateway, or else"

Ohio Smoking Ban
I am honestly trying to understand why people are against this. The reason I am against it, along with financial reasons is the fact that people are doing it for workers safety is bull. I work in a manufacturing environment, welding specifically, and I worked my way through college by bartending. Let me tell you, it is much smokier in the factory than it ever was in the bar. And I worked in some of the smokiest bars in Ohio. Welding smoke, with all of the metal and oil vapors is more toxic than cigarette smoke, but it has about the same particulate size. So it is breathed in the same as cigarette smoke. So, where is the concerned interest groups to make manufacturing illegal in Ohio? Its also quite condescending to think that people who work in the hospitality industry, whether it is a corner diner, or a fine dining establishment, are too stupid to get a job in another industry it they needed to. Why do they work there? The same reason the welder works here, they consider it to be a good job for the money. If you want to make smoking, and then later drinking illegal, go ahead, but be honest about it.

Ohio Smoking Ban
Government and special interest groups know best. People who work in bars aren't smart enought to make decisions for themselves.

Cleveland: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
I thought they were going to try to tie it into the Orchestra's 4th of July concert on Public Square, or at least they were thinking about it. I guess that is no longer the case?

Cleveland: 2005 Mayoral Election
Cimperman is for Jackson? I am starting to think the one group who wants to keep Cleveland poor and uneducated is the one group who has the most to lose if Cleveland becomes successful, the local Democratic party.

Cleveland: 2005 Mayoral Election
If Jackson does nothing as mayor, he will be a huge success. All of the work Jane has done, and all of the projects she (well, Chris Roynanne) worked to get done will bear fruit when he is in office. Then in about 6 years we will be in a quiet crisis again

What is the fate of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, (or is it just a church?) I think that was the only real local concern about the bridge. If they figured out a way to not destroy it, I think it would sail through city hall

KJP, what sort of increase in ridership do think would convince the RTA board that a rapid transit expansion was not only economically viable, but needed?

3 Dog Pat replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWhen I was there for the Texas game, I noticed how harsh the place looked. Maybe because the walkways were new concrete and it was sunny, it looked Cleveland State like. Just the walkways, and the entertainment alley. The buildings themselves were not bad. But if you have not noticed I pretty much have hated this project from the get go.

Where you went to school, what do you do?
'01 grad of the Ohio State University with a BS in Welding Engineering. Yep it is a real major and degree. I currently work for a company called Tower Automotive and was recently transfered to Chicago. We make the body structures for the Ford 500 and Freestyle and sell them to Ford so they can wind up selling them to nobody. (they don't sell so good :|)
