Cleveland: 2005 Mayoral Election
I think when many of these people got into the race, they could just rail against Cambell. Because she has either shaped up, or the back burner plans she had put into motion are coming together, she is now doing a much better job. So these people are now having to come up with a campaign to convice people of something other than they are not Jane. Has anyone noticed how subtly Jane has been courting big business, including Forest City? Putting Ratner on the search committee? I bet you her warchest gets filled up again soon.

Cleveland CiTiRAMA: 11 homes in Glenville neighborhood
OK, I don't want to jinx it.... But, at what point to we reduce or eliminate the tax abatement for new homes? I say not now, or in the immediate future, but if we continue to be "red hot" (still skeptical here...Clevelanditis) there would not need to be one, once the secret gets out.

Cleveland Public Schools: News and Discussion
It just seemed that the media was out to get her. She bought a new house in the city of Cleveland and the media was stunned to realize that she took the tax abatement that everyone who buys a house in the city gets. (the media folks probably don't even live in the city)

Cleveland CiTiRAMA: 11 homes in Glenville neighborhood
add these 11 houses to the drip drip drip of new housing being built or as Mayor Jane calls it the RED HOT housing market :) (its funny because it might be true)

I would love to see what they proposed. A unanimous no vote has to be just god-awful. It has to be funny

Her administration took a huge turn for the better once Roynanne (?sp) became chief of staff. I am proud she is mayor right now.

New Albany: Developments and News
3 Dog Pat replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWhen I lived in Houston, I remember reading an article from the NY Times, more or less mocking Houston for building brand new buildings with loft apartments. I loved reading it because I hated the "city" of Houston. But it is kind of funny that you would build a new building, and make it look like it was a re-hab of an old building

If the company was based in the city, part of the community, it is one thing. Kind of like Heinz field in Pittsburg. But Quicken loans, even if they open an office, has not much of anything to do with Cleveland.

^Right Sucks that an out of towner comes in, buys a team, and then takes down a respected area family name, replaces it with a corporate name. Even worse, tries to brand it with a nickname even before the name is officially changed. getting off the soap / bitch box.....now

Don't you learn in fourth grade that you can't give yourself a nickname Remember when they were trying to give the left field wall at the Jake a nickname, "Mini green monster", "Jacob's Ladder" etc......it wound up being....the left field wall

Columbus Taxicabs
Often you can hail a cab in C-bus, but there are time that it is scarce. The trick in Columubus is to ask the bartender/host to call you a cab. Usually they will have one for you within a few minutes.

Cleveland-Lakewood: Enhance Clifton Transit Project
Guys, lets not bash BRT too harshly until we see it in action. In Houston they put in a light rail, but I bet that if it were BRT, it would not look, or act much differently.
