Cleveland Browns Discussion
My prediction: a game out of nowhere this Thursday, they look sharp and just dominate. Then loose the next 6.

^I didn't know that fun fact. Ironic that Lerner couldn't get an international match, when he owns an international soccer team

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
^Wow, that is such a sea change from the way we have always viewed housing in the city. Instead of a targeted investment, in order to grow the city, this development could be a reaction to fill a need for a growing city.

Well, why isn't the stadium used more in warm weather months? Will putting a roof on it make it more viable all year? I guess my point is, what kind of events do you need a stadium for, that an arena or convention center can't provide. From the PD article Haslam said he wants the city to get more use out of the facility. "Anything that helps us do that. . . we're certainly going to take a look at it," he said. I think people are jumping to conclusions that he means a dome. I would expect a hotel and maybe some entertainment venues, connected to the stadium.

Can anyone who is totally familiar with the FEB project tell me which restaurants are part of Phase 1 and which is Phase 2. Now has Phase 2 locked up financing and will it start immediately after phase 1 is completed? Simplythis, the way I understand it, Toby Keith's place is part of phase II, but construction will begin as soon as the tower is completed. The rest of Phase II, like the apartment buildings, is still TBD.

I'm sitting in NOLA. I've got all the resources for an extended blackout due to the hurricane. Mostly that is beer, to be followed by red wine.

^^^I always thought that if uptown could get its act together (with the new alderman) the spot where the Popeyes is would make a great spot for a bar.

Lakeview Terrace - Cleveland
Putting aside the idea that public housing = criminals. CMHA should routinely look at all of its properties to see if the value of the land is worth selling. The idea being the revenue generated from the sale would give the agency more money to build better facilities for it's residents at another site, or possibly more mixed income developments. Chicago did this under Mayor Dailey when I lived there. It seemed to be a win-win...but you never know because the voice of the poor is often not heard. My point is, if selling the land / property leads to better and more extensive services, that is what CMHA should do. If not, then no.

Could it be configured to have mini displays from each of the UC museums, or all of the cultural institutions and halls of fame of the city and region? With all of the conventioneers and casino tourists, it could be a good inticement for visitors to visit some of the other attactions of the region.
