Origin of your Screen Name?
I could have gone with EuclidColumbusChicagoPittsburghOhioCitySanduskyJacksonAnnArborChicagoNewOrleans, but went with CleveChiNola. My College nickname was punchin Pat, or Punch for short, so I started out with Punch. But then people thought I picked the name to be a toughguy, which is just silly.

Does anyone have any idea if that spot on E. 4th will stay retail?

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
+1 for a restaurant review thread, but it seems more appropriate here on restaurants, yadda than urbanbar, no? Well, the description topic is "Reviews & articles of local spots and postings of social events, arts, festivals, etc." So the thread probably does belong in Restaurants, Local Events, & Entertainment, but it should be a seperate thread. Seperating news from opinion.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
I know there are mixed opinions on the subject, but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the statement uptown with MOCA makes about UC and the Cleve in general. That statement, in my mind goes something like "F*ck yeah we did this, and if you are impressed now, try wandering off of Euclid Ave a bit. Oh, and later... you're welcome" Ok, I really like this development, second only to the convention center

^^MwC, from what I remember, Positively Cleveland, MMPI, and the city agreed that Positively Cleveland would market the facility for non-medical shows, and MMPI would do it for medical shows. The reason was that part of the hotel bed tax goes to fund these activities. PC would in theory handle all Public Hall events. In my opinion, once MMPI hired Jim Bennet at the behest of the county council, everyone seems be getting along much better. I wouldn't be surprised if every pitch they make includes Public Hall.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
If its part of a well thought out plan that includes retail, restaurants, housing, etc, it could be a great thing. If not, it's not much to get excited about

Finding an apartment in Ohio City, Cleveland
I would also give a call to Ohio City Incorporated. They are a VERY engaged community development group, and the people I know who work there are very nice. If they have any info, I am sure they would be willing to share it. www.ohiocity.org

So, my local pub in the French Quarter was written up in the annual Times Picayune bar guide. I didn't get a mention, but my dogs did! "With its eclectic mix of regulars, this pub manages to keep the atmosphere lively without getting too rowdy. Patrons relax around the arc-shaped bar, sometimes leaning down to greet the outgoing Heather and shy Danny Boy, a pair of lounging dogs" http://www.nola.com/bar-guide/index.ssf/2012/07/fahys_irish_pub.html?mobRedir=false

Here are Danny Boy and Heather, named for the tourists who begged me to buy them as puppies from the meth head selling them on the street in the French Quarter

From Mr.Clifton's pic, I don't think the tiles look dirty- Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Shuttle service from Muni Lot. Done.- Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Has there been anything official about Rock purchasing the mall? Is there any "need" for Rock to purchase the mall?- Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I wonder (speculation) if Rock/Gilbert is looking at purchasing the whole mall. They already bought the hotel, and Phase II is planned to have retail. If it does, it would be a wierd set up to have two "malls" ran by different companies under one roof.- Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Do you notice a difference between some of the first tiles put up and the last ones to go in? I saw it last week when I was home, and honestly I didn't see any dirt. But I like the building, and how it fits into the group plan, so maybe I overlooked it.- Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
^^There is no reason to think that Phase II could house new movie theaters. The plan is to incorporate street level retail.- Cleveland: Cleveland Institute of Art Expansion
Where is the current Gund building that will be up for sale once this building is complete? Is it in a good spot for a residential building?- Cleveland: Cleveland Institute of Art Expansion
I hope this is the start of a new interest in the CLE by PBL!- Real estate in DS and Tremont (Cleveland)
^Detroit Shoreway is definitely getting a Wicker Park feel to it, Tremont is kind of like North Center / Lincoln Square. I live in New Orleans now, but moved down from Chicago, Roscoe Village and (unfortunately) South Loop. My guess to why house prices seem to be all over the map is for a few reasons. 1. With the housing slowdown, it is harder to make apples to apples "comps" 2. THe older housing stock, some have been through extensive renovations, some haven't 3. You may see some houses that were owned by parents who may have passed on, with the remaining family living out of town. They don't know the worth, or just want to sell it quick My suggestion is to go to a bar in the neighborhood and ask the people there. For instance, Stone Mad in DS, and South Side in Tremont. They can give you the ins and outs of the neighborhood. - Cleveland: Cleveland Museum of Art Expansion / Renovation
