  1. This is from the West Side Transit Center thread. Maybe Downtown CLE alliance or HWD is purchasing the property?
  2. But what about the property? Does the Rta have the option to buy?
  3. That was just my Swiss cheese memory of the article, but I'm would have to think that the RTA had a pretty solid option to buy before all of this planning took place.
  4. I just saw a blurb about the West Side Transit Center getting ready to break ground...or something along those lines. Off to Google.... .....and I'm back From the recent freshwater Cleveland article "But perhaps one of the most exciting developments is the hope of a West Side Transit Center to mirror the East Side’s Stephanie Tubbs Jones Transit Center. RTA’s plan to build atop one of the Warehouse District’s barren surface lots recently was approved by the neighborhood board and will soon seek potential developers with the help of the Downtown Cleveland Alliance. The plan calls for 39,500 square feet of ground floor retail, 183,600 square feet of mid- to low-rise housing, a garage for 540 cars, and just 4,800 square feet needed for transit center"
  5. I don't feel HRC is much of an asset, so I personally wouldn't be upset if it left. That is a prime spot, and with the casino Phase I and eventually Phase II, it will be replaced by something great. (remember, it used to be a Barney's New York...I just said that to give MTS a flinch of pain :) )

Hi, I used to live in Chicago, Roscoe Village, Southport, then south loop. What neighborhood would be your ideal in Chicago, and we can try to match that with a neighborhood in the Cleve. About furniture....anyone on this board ever buy from antique stores on Lorain? When I move back, I will definitely check that out, since that has been my best anywhere I have lived.
  7. (I'm lazy) Does the garage go all the way to E. 9th? Any retail frontage?
  8. Come on election year politics, swing state baby needs a new bridge! (actually a few bridges)

Try sublet.com, you may be able to find a place around college campuses I just checked Craigslist and there seems to be a few good places. If you see something that looks interesting, feel free to bounce it off us to see if it a good location. (I saw one on W. 67th that looked good)
  10. I do believe the vultures are circling... Is the proposed medical mart complex on Lower Broadway about to be replaced by rock ’n’ roll? Alternatives appear to be emerging for other possible uses for the longtime Nashville Convention Center site downtown, if plans for a medical trade center fizzle there. One buzz in Nashville real estate circles centers around concert promoter Live Nation shopping the concept of using part of the space for a music and restaurant venue under its “House of Blues” brand. The adjacent Renaissance Nashville Hotel also could be interested in taking over some of the space that would go vacant inside the aging Nashville Convention Center once the spacious Music City Center project opens south of Broadway next year. more at... http://www.tennessean.com/article/20120425/COLUMNIST03/304250097/Getahn-Ward-House-Blues-medical-mart-fizzles-
  11. Thanks, KJP. So, is this application for the "super" ped. bridge from the mall to North Coast Harbor?
  12. I was hoping that Noodlecat was opening in one of the restaurant(ish) / snack areas. Im also not a fan of more grocers turning into restaurants.
  13. One huge parking garage will take away the motive for surface parking lots once the draw of uptown hits full stride. As long as there are freeways, there will be a need for parking.
  14. OMLL, all bars and casinos in New Orleans are legally allowed to serve 24hrs a day.
  15. Thanks! Well, we are getting closer
  16. Random question, but with all the new rooms, does anyone know if we will have enough hotel rooms for a Dem/Rep 2016 convention?
  17. When I'm sober, I'll google the articles, but the construction budget includes a roof capable of holding a mall full of people
  18. Well, start the straight games, bring thousands of athletes from around the world to Cleveland. Then, I will enthusiastically support it.
  19. Millenium Park had all of corporate and family contributions for the amenities there. Chase plaza, Crowne (family) fountain, Pritzker (family) theater, Wrigley Peristyle. I have faith in Land Stdios, and the Metroparks to be able to do something great there with little $$$
  20. OK, so what hotel brand would be a good fit there?
  21. From what I have read, there were hoping the corporate communty would contribute the bulk of the money for the ammenties, and it hasn't happened. The construction budget will allow them to set the mall for future improvements, but I don't have a lot of hope for much more than what was there before, just a little bigger, with a hill.
  22. Yeah and hopefully some new great hotel brands by then (this will really help to set a tone, right MTS)... But also, hopefully there will be some new establishments for the crowd to go to. Im not sure what happened there, whether most of the gay population moved away or scattered, but considering what a groundbreaking place Cleveland was in its day, there really isnt much of anything now, and the places that are there dont seem very well supported. If nothing else my hope would be that places in general will become "host" bars, restaurants, whatever... and that they will also hold events, dances and such in some of the cities grand spaces and lobbies. The business model for gay bars are rapidly changing. I was just discussing this with the owner of St. James tavern in Columbus after she told me Havana closed there. There will be niche bars, like dance, leather, country, but as the "stigma" of being gay has dramatically lessened in this generation, the need to find a place where gays can be themselves has also lessened. (and yes, I'm back on the "I'm going to open a bar kick") So, as long as our guests are made to feel welcome, and we have a decent dance venue, I think it will be OK
  23. 2014. Think about how "new" the city will be for first time visitors. New convention center, new casino, all sorts of new on Euclid Ave, downtown, CSU and uptown, Flats, aquarium, Market District.... I think this event will be a great showcase for the city.

^Out of the county, or out of the state?
  25. I think that was the old massing, when they were talking about "the hottest club that combines clubs in Miami, New York and some ultra cool city on the moon that Newt Gingrich is mayor of" I guess they were talking about Toby Keith's place.
