I am for it being a boulevard with at grade intersection and no off ramps, with the land surrounding the new street being opened up for development and recreational space. In other words, the original plan.

Cleburger, I was a big supporter of the original plan, then a mild supporter of the stripped down plan. This plan, in my opinion, should be shelved until the funding for something closer to the original vision is secured. If we go ahead now with a few cosmetic changes, we will lose an opportunity to dramatically improve a growing and prosperous section of the city for a generation.

I vote to cancel. It is so far removed from a project that would extend the city grid to the lake, that its just not worth it

It would be a hike from the casino to that spot. In the NOLA casino, there is a bunch of local spots set up like a food court, and a John Besh restaurant. John Besh is the chef Michael Simon beat out for Iron Chef.

Lets hold off on the panic button until one year before the opening. I am sure they have a strategy, and this is not their first rodeo.

^Unless they change the welcome center design, the retail space under the bridge is not accessible from the inside of the welcome center. Casino patrons would have to exit onto Ontario and cross the street, or walk over the bridge, go down one floor, exit the building and come back in. I think the B-spot will be in the Higbee's building

^I was implying that Forest City and Rock Gaming probably knew that the tax credits would go away if they did something like put in the walkway, so FCE put in an "insurance policy" into the $85MM that RG payed for the land for Phase 2 Pure speculation on my point, but FCE ain't dumb

I have a feeling that was already negotiated when Rock Gaming bought the Tower City land for $85MM Now let's see if they pull a stunt stopping renovations again, unless they get their way.

I think it's time to move on from the Columbia. It is a particularly bad chapter in the history book of how developers can convince Cleveland City Hall to sell out long term vision for short term cash.
