  1. ^^careful Mayday, I hear the guy who snapped that pic, which is used in the opening credits of the show, is a real jerk about people using his work :)
  2. MTS does not think it is a good idea noted moving on
  3. so, how do you retweet?
  4. What do you mean ask for his help? He's is already helping to knock it down? Give him the opportunity to be the hero of the story. I don't care if he comes out smelling like roses, if we don't lose the building. Right now, there are not many avenues left I'm sorry, but that is so far from reality. You don't honestly believe that do you? I think that is unrealistic. Will it hurt the Columbia building's chances? Right now, there is a lot of activity on his @cavsdan because of his LeBron tweet. If (big IF) the negotiations with the state were sped up to make this Columbia building story go away, then they are sensitive to how this goes against Dan Gilbert's promises. It can't hurt

  6. Anyone use twitter? If you are not for the Columbia building coming down, contact Dan Gilbert @cavsdan and ask for his help
  7. That agreement came in lightning fast after the landmarks decision not to let them demo the Columbia until the state and casinos settled. Could be a coincidence, or the casino felt it already had the state where they wanted it, and quickly decided to take the offer. Or, maybe the Columbia demo wasn't swept under the rug as neatly as was hoped, and the protests are having an effect.

When was that? It used to mean happy, like in the Flintstones when they would have a "gay ol' time"
  9. It can be marketed as the parking garage district, 2nd largest parking garage district outside of "downtown" Houston!
  10. An anybody but campaign can spark the imagination of someone who might want to do it, but thinks the incumbant to strong. But we are getting a bit off topic.
  11. ^^Of course! I'm thinking about making t-shirts :) That would mean I would have to reevaluate my stance on giving up on Cleveland. I have a job offer from a company I love in the CLE, but it would be a bit of a career step down, a whole chunk less money, so it isn't a slam dunk right now. My hope was with civic engagement, and the rallying around the downtown neighborhood, not only would the landmarks commission vote against it, but Gilbert would pull back the idea until it was something worth of a great city like Cleveland. Then, man, talk about Believe in the Cleve. I would take any pay cut to come back and be part of such a vibrant, forward thinking, and budding community. Alas, what we have is Joe Cimperman, Mayor Jackson and the mayor's staff, high fiving Gilbert and the FCE crowd, and developers still rule the town. I've been on this board since 2004, desperately seeking updates on the Pinnacle condo construction, but its time to at least split my time between the city I would like to move back to one day (which may only exist in my hopes), and the city I live in now, New Orleans
  12. yup, since this is 2011 and political contributions matter almost as much as votes, I'll scrape together cash for ABC = Anybody But Cimperman and ABJ = Anybody But Jackson
  13. Cool, are there transcripts of the meeting? I am just so bummed that there was a law to protect the building, an outpouring of support to protect the building, yet the developer had no problem getting it knocked down. One extra meeting, but zero changes to the building plan. What else could we have done?
  14. This is the end of Canal street with the designed 6 lane valet drop off for the NOLA Harrah's casino The fence along the neutral ground is only at the casino, so people will not cross Canal and walk to that entrance. The front of the casino is pedestrial friendly, but not at the valet station http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=&q=new+orleans&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=New+Orleans,+Orleans,+Louisiana&gl=us&ll=29.950603,-90.065532&spn=0,0.02105&z=16&layer=c&cbll=29.950164,-90.06488&panoid=ac0Gh1r-P861RgG-CrERAQ&cbp=12,131.89,,0,6.12
  15. ^Check out the demo thread, then the CC/MM thread from the time when FCE wanted the CCMM
  16. I think its time to give up on Cleveland
  17. Its a motherf*cking parking garage and skywalk Nothing is smart about it
  18. Some cities have newspapers that expose back room deals, in Cleveland we have a newspaper who is part of the back room deal.
  19. Suprise the (not Cleveland) Plain Dealer editorial board is advocating for knocking down the Columbia http://www.cleveland.com/opinion/index.ssf/2011/06/tough_call_on_1908_landmark_sh.html I love how they always tuck into stories that the building has been vacant for "years", implying decades.
  20. I was suprised by how bungled the New Orleans downtown casino was handled. The temporary casino only lasted a few months before they shut it down, laid everyone off, including construction workers http://www.nytimes.com/1996/06/02/business/a-big-casino-wager-that-hasn-t-paid-off.html?src=pm
  21. ^They are the ones who boxed themselves in with the constitutional amendment, that they wrote! The city acts like the casino will go away if they don't get their way. Sad thing is the only thing in jeopardy is the size of the kickback to City Hall cronies
  22. Im thinking City of Cleveland = Under FCE/Gilbert's thumb. Can there be a legal challenge to the walkway, since it could be considered part of the casino, and it goes beyond the areas spelled out in the constitution
  23. OK guys, lets get back on topic
  24. Who is Dan Musson?
  25. happy dance Thanks for the pics Mayday
