  3. After speaking with her, it seemed that she recieved hundreds of e-mail, hopefully more. Just consider that e-mail as a reciept that it was recieved.

  5. ^In winter LSD is 40mph, a drop off from the 60mph of the Stevenson freeway
  6. ^Dude, I am a loudmouth jerk...who got a call back from the Mayor's chief of staff. This is a city where you can make a difference, but you have to put in the work
  7. Let me take a breath from ranting and ask a question. In the "remaking the square" ideas bouncing around, was ontario the street being closed off for extensions of the quadrants? If so, could Ontario between Prospect and the square be narrowed and a Valet area be put in on the street? Just thinking.
  8. ^And the Maron connection

  10. Just remembered this I know accidents happen everywhere, but having a vigorous traffic study is probably needed Woman killed in accident in Harrah's parking area Published: Sunday, March 14, 2010, 3:35 PM Updated: Sunday, March 14, 2010, 4:02 PM The incident happened at around 12:15 a.m. in the Harrah's valet parking area at 8 Canal Street. 12. ^^Anywho I was looking for a phone number for Rock Gaming and saw this rendering. Shame now this view will not exist anymore, when looking from here you will see the bottom of the Skywalk
  13. So, I just got a phone call from Ken Silliman, Mayor Jackson's chief of staff. I guess he was one of the dozens of people I called. I know the man is very busy, so I probably should have been nicer. He basically said how awesome Cleveland is at historic preservation (WTF!?!), and that this is the best deal the city could get from the casino. When I mentioned that I was a bit skeptical that they would walk away from the project if they didn't get thier garage, and that the city was just selling out for the money for the Gateway garage, he said if they don't get their way, Phase I could be in jeapordy. How much money did they sink into buying the Tower City property, $85MM? If they lose a few hundred parking spots, they are going to forgo the millions they would make at even the phase I casino?? If city hall can't stand up to bullying form the casino now, then we are screwed. What is the next compromise they will ask for, and who will say no?

  15. ^Chicago will get one with Mayor Rahm. I just had hoped when Gilbert said he didn't want a traditional casino that keeps people locked in, he wanted one that benefited downtown, he wasn't blowing smoke.
  16. A troll themed bar, since it is under the bridge, or a starbucks
  17. ^^I don't understand why anyone would be FOR this? I can get not caring, but why be for knocking down buildings for parking? I am sursprised Brown didn't include the world class signage that says "Casnio Parking" as another feather in his cap of logic
  18. Pedestrian Bridge Issues. Although the proposed pedestrian bridge will interfere with some views, particularly along Ontario northbound, the fact that Ontario is a relatively wide street and the fact that it bends just south of the proposed bridge significantly limits the impact that the bridge will have on views. The most significant view that will be obstructed is that of the County Courthouse on Lakeside. However, motorists and pedestrians will not be close enough to appreciate the architecture of that building until after passing under the pedestrian bridge. Similarly, the most significant views of Old Stone Church will occur north of the proposed bridge. Recognizing the importance of the design details, the Planning Commission has instructed the developer to return with a refined concept for the bridge’s design before final approval is considered. What about the views on Prospect, walking from E. 4th? From one major entertainment destination in the city to the other? http://maps.google.com/maps?q=44113&oe=&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Cleveland,+Ohio+44113&gl=us&ll=41.498019,-81.69164&spn=0,0.002631&z=19&layer=c&cbll=41.497971,-81.691877&panoid=b86WGpMBu74btlfD8HaATA&cbp=13,241.21,,0,-16.51
  19. I haven't seen any bar louie's down here. I thought the first one was in Lincoln Park, (not all that far from the original potbelly's: an antiques store that sold sandwiches once a week until....)
  20. I put in a call to Jennifer Coleman, Chair of the landmarks commission. She asked me to e-mail her my opposition to the project, and that way she can demonstate the amount of opposition to knocking down the Columbia. If you would like to do so also, her e-mail is Jennifer Coleman: [email protected]
  21. What studies have been done to show that lowering a speed limit will increase the likelyhood of traffic fatalities?
  22. Here is the Columbia building, and a couple of similar looking building in Chicago's south loop, just so people can picture how it can be renovated for apartments or condos
  23. When I lived in Chicago, Bar Louie was OK. Not great, not horrible. It would have been nice if they opened up a new place in the WHD, just sad to see Metro go. One thing to consider, perhaps Bar Louie is buying not only the restaurant, but the concept. Maybe (speculation on my part) Bar Louie is looking for an upscale version of itself, that it can mass produce.
