  1. "Jump on the 'bus, the COLUMBUS!" not mocking the city, mocking marketing tag lines.
  2. ^WOW - if that is correct we may need a few more hotel rooms in town :)
  3. huh? That was supposed to say I wonder how much redevlopment of Scranton peninsula $85MM would finance. It was just speculation, just wondering if you could actually finance the whole area for that money. Again, I have no news, rumors or anything
  4. For item #2, the malls are that wide. When they put the addition onto public hall, they visually narrowed the malls, and I think they put the truck docks onto the mall property. With the renovation, the malls will be back to their original width

  6. This is a very good article by Michelle Jarboe. It gets into a bit of the politics behind the development in the flats, and maybe an answer to why the area has not performed to its potential recently. (good job Michelle!) Flats Oxbow Association on uncertain footing amid change in Cleveland's Flats CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A renaissance along the banks of the Cuyahoga River may be possible, but it's unclear who will be at the helm. William Yankow, a Stonebridge Plaza resident and new member of the Flats Oxbow board, said the association has been dysfunctional and narrowly focused in the past. But just as the Flats appear ripe for revival, he said, Flats Oxbow may have reached a turning point. "It wasn't just one group or organization that was at fault for allowing this area to kind of sit," Yankow said. "Now that people are getting re-energized about it, to think that one organization or board is going to do it all would be a fool's errand." http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2011/01/flats_oxbow_association_on_unc.html
  7. I think a dog park in a small corner of the entire mall site would be a hit.

  9. We discussed this a few weeks ago. The MMCC is slightly below average for comparable sized convention centers in country.

nifty pic in there as well
  11. The Q and the Wolstien Center would be my guess. Also remember that the reelection campaign will be based in Chicago, not DC. While possibly minor in the scale of determining factors, it does give CLE and STL a proximity advantage

Im a brown line type of guy. What are you looking for? My recomondation to be a local tourist is to check out Southport Ave. Hit Schuba's, Schoolyard, Southport Lanes, Mystic Celt, Coobah, (I used to live there and worked at Schuba's) If you like live music, you HAVE to check out Schuba's
  14. Well, all of it is a moot point. The city gets too much revenue from the facilities to even consider giving them up. I hope they address the step difference between Mall C and the garages, but I can't see them willing to destroy them, just to give parking business to a private entity. (well if Forest City could benefit...never mind)
  15. In my misc. wishes for the renovated Mall, I hope they have a replica Hanna Fountain. That 1947 pic shows how wide the Mall was before the addition.
  16. Devil's advocate: What if a 515 Euclid type of parking garage was constructed in the WHD? Where you had ground level retail, and the ability to expand upwards for office or residential. Wouldn't that be better than what we have now?
  17. The first photo above shows what they are talking about when the idea of removing the top level. It is about about 10 feet above the edge of mall C. If there is money (:)) I can see them removing that top level
  18. They are considering tearing down the entire garages, Willard and the one at W. 3rd, and they are also looking into removing just the top floor, which blocks views from the northern end of Mall C.
  19. I predict that a lot of those photos will be great "before" shots soon For some reason after looking at the transformers pics, I want to drink a Stella
  20. Map Boy!!! Call off the search, he is found!
  21. I am the 4th to like it
  22. its a balancing act: how it functions inside, how it looks outside, and the budget to do it I have faith that they will get it right
  23. I like the idea of the arcades filling up with "Passport to Peru" type stores
