  1. Gordon park, without the freeway, had to be impressive
  2. Lets see what the group plan commission comes up with for the mall, and maybe for Public Hall.
  3. Was the new CC/Lerner college of medicine started during that time?
  4. I like it, but I'm not overly impressed with it. It looks like it would fit into Museum Park in Chicago nicely.
  5. Welcome and thanks for the info!

^just curious, do you know if the US courthouse had to dig that far down, or by being in the valley did the river do the work for them?
  7. Clevelander17, I am interested in learning more about these socical engineering projects, and the independent surveys done to gage the level of success. I haven't seen any studies. Can you provide a link to these studies?
  8. cool, looks like a veil
  9. Thanks for the info, and welcome!
  10. ^well label me blind, I never noticed the clock!
  11. When is Huntington taking over the former BP building? (yes I am lazy)
  12. The contingency fund can be used for site aquisition costs, if lower tax revenues than expected come in, etc. EDIT: the original posting was not complete, sorry
  13. Is there a clock on it, or is it just a water tower?
  14. Here is the agreement that MMPI and the county spelled out months ago. In it is says that after the initial agreement on the price, MMPI will be the construction manager and the county will fund construction up to that amount. ANY COST OVERRUNS ARE THE RESPONSIBILITYOF MMPI! http://bocc.cuyahogacounty.us/pdf_bocc/en-US/MedMartMOU.pdf
  15. once the contract is signed, its MMPIs worry, not the county
  16. Now that I am thinking about it, I am sure there was always a small percent contingency. Im also sure the PD presented it in the most scanallous way possible.
  17. Medical mart and convention center to cost $40 million more than expected http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2010/09/medical_mart_and_convention_center_to_cost_40_million_more_than_expected.html -MMPI will pay $8.5MM, the rest will come from a contingency fund that county officials had not disclosed before this week -The extra costs are for an larger ballroom -meeting space is cut Some interesting nuggets -The IX center is planned to stay open, for large events like the auto show - Commissioners are going to vote to raise the county bed tax from 5.5% to 6.5%, and reduce the amount given to the CVB by $1MM a year, all to fund operations of the new CC. (this last thing was, in my opinion, the last major potential road block. It looks like it wound up being an old fashioned compromise)
  18. E. 4th did steal some thunder from W. 6th. If the restaurant scene can hold on for 3 more years a new convention center and casino will bring in more diners, and let the restaurants flourish. 3 years is a long time, however.
  19. I think it has found it use as an events space. We have plenty of areas in town that are hurting for retail, lets not throw more space into the mix. Now lets think of other events that can be held there.
  20. This is my example of why we are in a new era of Cleveland history. Bravo
