MTS, did you get my PM? For the record I recommended Stella and Bayona, if anyone was interested

First day at the new job in the oil indusrtry. First assignment, design the welds on the pipes related to the relief well on Deepwater Horizon. So cool!
  3. I know the higher ups at MMPI are tight with the upper leadership of tge DNC, not just Chris Kennedy. From an electoral vote perspective, CLE would be where they want to go. I am sure there have been discussions between the two to try to figure out a way to make it work.
  4. People, this group contains ALL the movers and shakers of this town. They are the ones who will figure out a way to get the plans that the team composed of MMPI, ParkWorks, Cleveland Public Art, KSU's Urban design collective, among others will hash out. It is an awesome team the Mayor has put together
  5. Anyone know if the new Huntington Bank building owners have done a good job with One Cleveland Center, or 55PS
  6. Wow, Public Square through 9th, through Playhouse Square, through CSU, up to the innerbelt, it will be a cohesive street. Just think how it looked for Spider-man, or before House of Blues. Now hotel groups are fighting for the best spots. :)
  7. I did not see the first episode, but. HIC last night was funny and cute. Loved Chief Wahoo
  8. I am sure there are hundreds of ways to bridge the mall and parks along Lakeside Ave and to preserve the ballroom view. I was exited about the local groups MMPI partnered with, and it sounds from here that the Mayor's contribution will only help. Things are happening, and its all good!

Just to be clear, does any part of duck island border water?
  10. To each their own, but that is my favorite perspective, it makes it look like we have more than 3 buildings downtown
  11. Well, it will make developers who want to do projects similar to 668 make thier case to lenders easier, since there is proof of demand for this type of housing.
  12. MH, the article is in the subscription only area. Would you mind giving us a nuts and bolts synopsis of the article, please?
  13. Just curious, if Ms. Dambidness would be willing to divulge this, but typically is it a flat fee, or a fee per broadcast?

We have set the bar so low for ODOT that if we have a pedestrian and bike route we would consider it a great victory, rather than something that should be a given
  15. is it the 7 county region? If over a million people visit Cuyahoga county in a month, wouldn't that be more that the population of the county?
  16. ^My impression is that the last generation of Clevelanders, the Feagler generation, was held hostage to the grander of Cleveland past. Everywhere they looked, they saw defeat. Their whole goal for the city was to get it back to the city they remembered growing up, when Euclid Avenue made the Magnificent mile look like a cheap knock off. Our generation does not have those memories. They don't see defeat, they see a blank canvas. That is especially true of new Clevelanders. So my ultimate idea is to round up all the Feaglers and move them to Columbus (I kid, I kid)
  17. From Crain's Cleveland Business Positively Cleveland urges members to help protect the group's share of bed tax dollars Cuyahoga County commissioners expect to decide in the next few weeks whether to divert part of the county's bed tax from Positively Cleveland, the regional convention and visitors bureau, to help pay for the operation of the planned convention center and medical merchandise mart. Positively Cleveland has e-mailed its members a draft of a letter and is asking its members — hotel operators and others in the hospitality industry — to send letters to the Cuyahoga County commissioners urging them to protect the bureau's share of the bed tax. The bed tax is a 4.5% tax on money spent on hotel rooms in the county, and it generates $11 million a year. The city of Cleveland also levies a 3% bed tax. Positively Cleveland ends up with less than half of the $11 million, but the tax accounts for more than 80% of the nonprofit's $5.2 million annual budget. ...the county might need the bed-tax money to cover its obligation to Chicago-based MMPI Inc., the operator of the tradeshow complex. Under the development agreement signed last April, the county agreed to pay MMPI a supplemental fee of about $6 million a year for the marketing and management of the facility. more at -> http://crainscleveland.com/article/20100616/FREE/100619882

Can't wait to see it. I love what I know of Duck Island. Welcome!
  19. What is our cut?
  20. Have we known for a while that Rafael Vinoly was going to design the MM? Between this and the Museum of Art, his work will leave a lasting mark in the city.
  21. ^No stopping expansion north. 4 stories fits in with the original group plan as well
  22. MTS, we have an answer to your question :-D  :-D :-D I knew that. my point, a parking garage under all that isn't bothered. Having all those thing above our convention center most likely would be. I think all that stuff should be developed along the FEB curving around to CBS and NCH. It's a huge added bonus for the neighborhood. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2010/06/architects_envision_clevelands.html Landscape architects were not at the presentation, but Vinoly said the underground convention center is being designed to withstand loads of large gatherings on the park-like mall above. "In general, it's analogous to Millennium Park," he said, naming the Chicago tourist draw Cleveland boosters would like to emulate on the Mall.
  23. Ewoops with a celebrity appearance! Welcome back!
