    jealous? :-D
  3. Dude, its only been talk about for 5 years come this Saturday, ya doubting Thomas :)
  4. ^That is a good question. Are there tax credits specifically for new jobs or construction on Euclid Ave that is not available on neighboring streets?
  5. ^That sounds just way too logical. Getting the Fed, state, county, city, the Clinic, UH, Cleveland Tomorrow (whatever they are called now)and MMPI officials to sit at a table for a day to see if everyone still wants to move forward, and what everyone wants to get out of the deal. If it is doable, do it. If not, kill it now. Don't just let it twist in the wind and start a long miserable finger pointing litany of press releases.
  6. Regardless of how bungled the port has been managed, i still agree with the vision of a unified waterfront along the lake and river
  7. I wish the city hadn't made such a stink about MMPI when they first talked about the $60MM fugure, it just shined a bigger spotlight on the problem
  8. This is the type of development intended for the Opportunity Corridor, so its not like the city does not want this type of development, it simply wants to use zoning appropriately.
  9. I am now worried that MMPI might be using Cleveland Politics to its advantage to weasel out of the deal, giving Cleveland leaders a sanctimonious pearch in which to kill the deal. Hope I am wrong.
  10. Pure speculation, I wonder if they are trying to get thier ducks in a row to be shovel ready in case there is a second stimulus package.
  11. If you think about it, its a lot like what the Van Swerigens did for thier Shaker Hts development back in the day (no, I can't spell)
  12. I would love to see a design that incorporates the size and scope of the proposed train station, but with design elements of the North Coast harbor which is dominated by the Rock Hall. White tile, glass, large geometric shapes. It can have a cheesy tag line like respecting the past, looking to the future. Whatever is designed we are sure of one thing, W. 28th will be disappointed ( :-) I kid, I kid)
  13. (big) IF the MM can be constructed in a way that is consistant with the original Burnham vision, and it better connects the mall to the lakefront/harbor, and if a North Coast Transportation Center can be combined with it, then I think it is a better plan than the original I like Polensic's idea to extend the tax a couple of years and renovate Public Hall, if we can't get MMPI to do it
  14. At the very least, they should share design principles
  15. Any coordination between MMPI and the North Coast transportion center
  16. ^Gilbert never left Detroit, or whatever suburb of Detroit he lives in
  17. It it was built across from the arena at street level, it would integrate well into downtown
  18. Turning our attention to the scoreboard... In terms of dollars how much constrution is happening in the city, or is funded (like the CC) and about to begin Casino = $600MM (assuming we can trust that number, for now lets) CC/MM = $450MM CMA = $250MM Case Medical Center (UH) = 100M ??? Innerbelt = ??? Am I forgetting anything over $100Million? (that is funded) I just like to throw out a fun fact like that when I am talking up the CLE to patrons at Nola.
  19. ^Opportunity corridor's biggest champion Over $3 billion in construction either completed or at least funded under his watch Downtown population tripled, with more units on the way I'll take that over a politician claiming the work of others as his own Back on topic, KJP, what is the feasibility of a west side WFL? Roughly following the path of a reconstructed Shoreway?
  20. I havent been to one without them EDIT: Im pretty sure Ive been to every bar in the quarter, besides some hotel bars, they all have them
  21. NOLA doesn't work because every bar has poker machines. Ive been looking into buying a bar in the quarter, and those machines typically generate as much revenue as food and bev., so in most cases occupancy costs are covered by the electronic gambling machines. (side note, for most bars in the quarter the real rstate is owned by the poker machine companies and bars rent. They need the bars and restaurants to stay open because they make their money on tge machines) they also have bourbon street to draw in the tourists Aurora IL would be interesting to study to see if regional tourism was a net benefit for its downtown or just the casino
  22. Vegas is not a good example, there are many cities that have put in one or two casinos or a riverboat. Those would be better models to learn from
  23. There was discussion that certain areas of the CC would be lower than 30', but I forget if that was under the road or not.
