  1. You could designate the new dredging areas as a wildlife sancutary from the get go
  2. request for southport and roscoe village! :)
  3. What brings you to the south loop so often?
  4. Help me with Lucky's here...when I worked at the Treehouse in 2001 there was a late night breakfast place kind of caddy corner from Lola. It burned down. I though that was lucky's. I thought this was the rebuilt restaurant, but I don't recognize Heather from the photo on the website. Was I that drunk in late 2001?

Hasn't some student housing been popping up near CSU? If so, that may be an option
  6. ^maybe, but a significant number of people who go downtown now will be spending their money at the casino, rather than the placed they used to frequent. there is validity to the argument, but like I said earlier, the addition of the convention center will more than offset the loss. Especially since the CC did not go to Tower City
  7. I would agree with the people who say it will take customers away from already established venues downtown, except for the fact that the new convention center will easily replace all of those people.
  8. I lived and worked around China town...again I miss Chicago
  9. There was a PD article that stated the goal was to have Chinese start ups occupy the building, so the proximity to Asia town, along with the port seems to be both factors.
  10. it is a shame it fell into so much disrepair. Maybe it was just the HJ name, but the whole idea, it had that 1950s highways are great, I like Ike, and cars need a good tailfin vibe to it. At this point, it had to come down, but I hope we don't regret it in 30 or so years.
  11. NANCY'S I used to go there and litterally try to fill my esophagus once my belly was full. Now that is the type of Columbus I love and miss!
  12. I think Souper Market should team up with either Phoenix coffee or Arabica, now that they are centralized
  13. I mentioned this earlier in the tread, but my brother bought and remodeled a house on W. 67th and nearly the lake in 1995. The neighborhood was great back then and just keeps getting better
  14. They didn't want to preach to the choir, its a good strategy
  15. Cue the PollyAnna picture, but I think this is a situation where you have to look at the glass half full, or even quarter full. Sure a lot of the students screwed up, but a lot did not. Just a guess, but some of the students who are doing well may not have had that opportunity unless it was for this scholarship. So the choice is, do you complain about the "wasted money" for the kids who did not go so well thier first time in school, or do we rejoice that some are doing well. Education is key to breaking poverty.
  16. KJP, be sure to hire Sam Miller
  17. Innovative charter schools, donate lots of money to Cleveland Catholic schools. Offer college scholarships to universities if they promise a year of service to The Cleve
  18. How close is this to I-490, or more specifically, how close will it be to the Opportunity Corridor? Never mind, I looked at google maps. It's a hike
  19. With every dropped pass and each incident of bad behavior his trade value goes down. Maybe Dallas will want him
  20. I just get upset when people throw out "he's the greatest Clevelander ever!" type comments. He is a business man who atands to make some money by doing business in Cleveland. Good for him. I really dont like the idea of a casino, or an indoor entertainment district, but it looks like that train has left the station
  21. Golf will be at Firestone. Im not sure if any other events will be there
  22. The gays are hosting the events, and they are open to all. If you want to grab a bunch if white people together and put together what amounts to a mini Olympics and call it the White Games, go for it!
  23. Nautica needs a daytime attraction, that is why they brought it in.
  24. it is easy to know when to cut off a drunk, not so much with a problem gambler. I hope this specific casino sponsored vote does not pass, but that the state recognizes that it will pass eventually. Then they put out a vote to legalize a few casino licenses, then auction them off and tax the hell out of them
  25. What is the tax benefit to the state, how does that compare to other states, like Illinois?
