Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
The one thing that I wasn't aware of that scares me the most is that even if you buy a greyhound ticket you may not get to ride on the bus. Does amtrak oversell trains?

Any idea if there will be audio, video, or a transcript of the debate made available?

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
from this story....."State Sen. Jon Husted, R-Kettering, another leading rail skeptic, said the studies all are biased toward the transportation agency's desired conclusion: that rail would be a viable proposition in Ohio." OF COURSE, any study that goes against your position is biased. Never mind the solid reputations of the firms that did the studies.

could they paint the walls darker too? Light colored walls do not work well for a theater.

They need to extend the Red Line the other way, farther east than Windemere.

^^Wow, we're the only state in the top 10 without this passenger rail (Florida is #8).

I don't know if this was posted earlier and I just missed it (i swear I read the whole thread), but... The $8 billion HSR stimulus averages out to $26.67 per person. In Ohio our 11 million people account for $293 million of that stimulus bill. I'd rather net $100 million than lose the entire $293 million to another state. another way to look at it, $400 mil / 11 mil people = $36.36 per person. The feds are basically giving us our tax money back plus an additional $10 for every person in the state. When I say 'giving us our tax money back' I mean the portion of our taxes that are going to the general HSR stimulus. Its not like we can give the $400 mil back and have it be a $7.6 billion stimulus. The $400 million is used whether we take it or not. I say we use it for Ohio.

Key's operations departments moved to the Parma area, but a lot of the IT that was in the May Co. building will be moving to floors 6, 8, and 9 of Higbee's in a month or two.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^Not when its people who want to spend money ;P On a more serious note, I've never been there, but if what jonmoxon says is true (that its crowded) it leads me to believe that there's room for another similar type of establishment in the marketplace.

I like that idea, but here's the problem Monthly pass prices COTA: $55 GCRTA: $85 SORTA: $70 GDRTA: $55 True, I could see some people trying to scam the system by buying the cheaper passes and use them in a place that is more expensive. Maybe offering one or two discounted all day passes per train ticket would be better.

Has anyone talked about a "sharing" of public transportation passes in these cities. I'm a daily Cleveland commuter with a monthly pass. It would be nice if I could pay regular price for my train ticket, take the train to Columbus, and still have my monthly transit pass be valid in the destination city. Maybe its too much wishful thinking, but some way to facilitate travelers transportation in the destination city would be a good idea. It might help people be less leery about not having their cars. Maybe add a one day pass for a reduced cost on to the price of the ticket.

I think they should make the "beach" a decent size and try to pull an AVP tournament. You'd get some really cool backdrops with the sand volleyball and the bridge/buildings in the background.

People always seem to forget to include that demographic in the equation. Its a built in reason for lots of external people to be in Cleveland. If anything, having a casino will help bring more conventions to Cleveland. Its another item on the checklist of Cleveland's amenities.

Cleveland: Downtown Aquarium
They were talking about this for the 5 minutes I listed to 98.5 this morning. It seemed that it was mostly caller after caller saying they wouldn't feel safe letting their kids go to the powerhouse aquarium for a field trip, or they would never take their kids there because it is unsafe, etc. The rest of the time was the hosts bashing the location. Gotta love the suburban fear.

Hopefully they'll build it at street level w/parking garage directly underneath the structure. That way they won't have to cannibalize any more land for parking.
